A wonderful surprise gift from ladyheather who is such a sweetheart! I'm currently learning to play the mandolin, a fact which I mentioned in a recent journal, and Heather surprised me with this absolutely gorgeous picture of me relaxing with said instrument. I'm nowhere near this competent yet, being only on day three, but I've no doubt I'll get there. Which will doubtless come as a relief to my poor cat who has been glowering from her perch on the windowsill every day.

I'm only vaguely familiar with the show, as something that was sometimes playing on the communal television in a friend's dorm at my undergraduate university. But my old AD&D group could probably have turned even a mandolin into a deadly weapon, if any of them had ever deigned to play a bard.

It's a hilarious show, in which a young boy conducts mad science experiments in a bad Geman accent in a secret room behind his bed, while trying to fend off his playful and clumsy sister, Dee Dee. when she occasionally entwines herself in his endeavors she usually proves far more competent.  The Episode i'm referencing, D& Dee Dee is part of the proof, when she butts in on his RPG group and his mother makes them let her in.  She proves a far more likeable DM than Dexter, for Dexter is a ruthless player killer, and Dee Dee innately goes the more fun route of weaving an imaginative, if unorthodox story.  In other words, he's a classic bad DM, and she's a fairly decent one.

Wow, and you told me once that you ramble? I think I've got you beat, there, bunny. :D

Aww, this is beautiful! What an awesome gift your friend gave you. (: What's crazy is that this is exactly what I imagined when I read your journal!
I'm hoping to hear more and more about your mandolin adventures, should you choose to pursue this endeavor down the road!
