HEEEY everyone!

I know everyone is getting impatient...as usual...I think I'll talk about that in this month's journal.

Anyway, on to this topic.  I have been considering getting a support artist to help along with the art.  We already have Zhou helping us with the coloring, but in order to get more art into the game, and considering how slow I tend to work, some tryouts have been underway in order to find a support artist.

I wanted to bring this to light so the "CBG community" would share their two cents in this matter...

SHOULD a support artist be considered?, what should his work encompass?

so far I've reviewed over 5 possible candidates

this one is called SaphireOtter, he has a name, however since my communication with him/her has been sporadic I will not reveal this name as I haven't asked permission to.

he sent me the drawing to the left this morning, as well as other sketches he's made.  He/She has talent and with a little refinement a lot of really good art can be made.  I decided to make a comparison sketch based on the one he made in order to give some pointers and suggestions, but then again I myself am not a full blown artist, so I could be wrong.

welp I hope you all enjoy and hopefully I'll be posting more on this subject later on.

PS: be sure to give your two cents on the subject

I could be a support line-art artist. Nothing that I have uploaded here really shows it, but I'm good at replicating and copying other peoples' style. After a little while of looking at your stuff, and playing the games a couple more times, I could more than likely copy your style (I have done it before a couple months ago) and give you some pictures.
Aval0nX

well again, all those interested in the position should send me a sketch or sketches via email, and Avian and I will review them.  I'm not looking for someone that can replicate my style, but someone that can provide proper support, that has some understanding of art, and that can help via suggestions, or by looking at the drawings from a different point of view.

Hunh. So what would that consist of? Being available for chat and helping review your work as it comes out of the pipe?

Hm. Well, I think I could do that, at least. You've already seen my constructive criticism.

Really? Because I would assume that this being your game, you would want to make sure that the drawing all looked very similar to your  interpretaions of the characters. Such as how you did with the atop picture, have someone replicate yours to the best of their ability, and then you go in and make the final touchs and suggestions to make all art flow through your game without any looking out of this world. But I am no artist or game maker and have no idea about all the steps inbetween paper and pen to a fantastic game. So I apologize if i have made any comment that offended you or showed off my ignorance a little too much :D

IIt probably would be for the best to bring a second artist into the picture. This will help take some of the workload off of you and maybe get art done faster. Either that, or the art could still be slow, and have great quality, but maybe more art can be done. As for what he should do art wise, I am unsure. This person here does seem to be a good artist. However, it would be nice if their artwork did not differ too much from yours. Their Cream is no doubt cute, but I have come to know your version of Cream very well, and I absolutely adore her. It would be weird to see your Cream in one place, and then a completely different Cream not too far away.

It appears that with this example (appearing as if both have their pros and cons), depending on the other samples your receive, you might be able to somehow combine the different styles into one you and the others may be satisfied with.  Like a fusion of styles for one end result.

Only a suggestion, but either way I hope ya find the help you're looking for.
Warzone

I believe this is a great idea, having more styles present in the game will provide more depth it total. I would, however, be very careful about who you decide on to help. if their style is 'to' different from your own then it will make the visual experience of the game seem sporadic. As an example, imagine cream suddenly growing 2 inches, or suddenly growing a pony-tail between scenes, and suddenly switching back. While most people might not notice the difference immediately, it will become bothersome and people might, well... get irritated.

Anyway, the best choice from those above would be the 2nd, his art style is more similar to your own. I know that's not what your looking for, but its what you need in this situation. If you decide to have cream age, 'then' it would be better to introduce a different art style.

I hope this helps you make your decision.

Sincerely,
Warzone

**sorry in advance for this badly written comment I'm a tad tired since finals**
hmmm otter has a lot of talent it seems( much more then mine >_<)

Otter's work is a tad more...eastern to me then yours. You typically have a more realistic proportioned look such as with the hips and arms which has always struck me a  normal western style, don't get me wrong you have incorporated eastern drawing appearances in your style too but you basis on the figures to me is western.

As for your comment "clothes are not stickers" (I loled) you are right but some outfits such as a bathing suit can be very elastic making it skin tight, so there is nothing wrong with it, it just depends on what you're overall going for.

As for the hair on Cream I don't dislike it but it does make me think of a preteen Vanilla, it's up to you if you feel like incorporating that, me frankly like I said I like it, it gives a more obvious relation with Vanilla.

and if you don't think you'll use Saphire Otter's work I would like to suggest maybe finding a photo album in the game that has all your art work and then some others like Saphire's and maybe label them as other relatives of Cream ;) (just a thought)

at any rate if a support artist helps you, and helps manage the work load that would be great :) I love your game and your drawings last thing I would want is for you to be overly stressed and pissed with fans :/

clothes arnt stickers, but they lay alot closer to the body than that. have you ever seen a bikini on a girl? also the ears are drawn EXTREMELY chunky and heavy when they should be smaller and lighter. http://www.absoluteanime.com/sonic_x/cream.jpg (for reference)

To me artwork in the game is just a great bonus, the writing on its own paints enough of a picture. However with the art unless they can match your style well, other artists helping out will just look off. If styles change depending on the scene it can look jaring and in worst case moments almost like its another character.
xheris
13 years, 6 months ago
I understand bring in more artists to help and having more people who can color doesn't do you much good. the impotent thing is if they could match your style for game continuity. I wish I could help but I can only color and photoshop.
kirbycrossing
13 years, 6 months ago
I think it would  be a good thing for support artists to contribute to the game, as it would add more depth and more artwork could added, plus it would remove some of the load from your shoulders.
I do however think that while various styles in the game would be a good thing, it would be bad if the way Cream herself was drawn.
For example, in SaphireOtter's drawing, she has a different hairstyle. I think that things like hairstyle, proportions, etc. should stay the same in all of the artwork, purely for the sake of continuity.
dualblade16
13 years, 6 months ago
Nice, and I think you should really consider it Avalon. With a support artist the game may be finished quicker, you can please your fans more often, cutting down the "You gave up the game you jerk!" Comments and hate mail. Plus you wouldn't have to spend as much time on it since you would mostly be doing programming on the game, right? :3
Rashira

Wrong. As of right now, Aval0nX writes the story and draws the art, and Avian programs everything into an actual game.

I kinda like the way the ear folds on the SO version, and smaller mouth segment is kind of cute, but over all it doesn't seem to match the version on the right which is closer to your art style (i lol'd when I wrote that). But seriously though, it makes sense to add a second artist if they can match your style better, otherwise the art wont have coherence which takes away from the game experience.

Criminy again somebody who can't seem to read, the one on the left is Avalonx's style because it is him. He is asking for help artistically not whether this picture matches his style.

Sorry ignore this I can't read....ignore me i am tired. Help would be good for you if they can work to your standard.

Aaanyway,  I have to admit I think the art is good, but the differences are definitely a bit jarring.  Otter's version seems to look younger than your version, to me.  I remember you mentioning that you "aged up" Cream from her normal age to her current one for the game.  Maybe you should ask Otter what age he was going for when he drew it?
SapphireOtter
13 years, 6 months ago
or i could answer it myself lol
when I first played CBG, I noticed that Aval0nx made her look a bit older so I kinda assumed maybe 11 or 12, but I guess i kinda went for closer to 13, i think? haha
I was kinda debating weather to give her more of a chest, but then that would probably make her look even older

yeah that's one of the things that Aval0nx pointed out to me in the picture above, right now I'm working on a bit, but i don't normally stay on one picture for to long tho, i usually move onto the next phase (coloring) or start drawing the next picture in my head.

"Be honest" huh?  You're a terrible person!  How dare you draw sweet and innocent Cream in a bikini!

You should have drawn her naked!

Well, the nose of saphires cream is allright I say. It has a cute look, but somehow looks a whore different then the cream we all know. It is like comparing Sasami from Tenchi Muyo OVA and Sasami from the completly new show, where a complete different artist worked on it and used different techniques. So yeah, you can only give tips to the both of you where you can do things better. But here is something only full artists can give real helpfull comments. I for myself would miss a few points to point out where to correct things. You allready did a good job pointing out where on your both works something is wrong.
Oh yeah, Aval0nx. On your pic, the bikinipanties look like they are sort of 'full'. That is something that looks a bit better on saphire. having it lay closer on the body.
awakenji
13 years, 6 months ago
if they are willing maybe they can do alternate versions to certain minor scenes.
or
just do some scenes on their own.
It would be unique to see the second option since the art style would change throughout the game and not stay consistent.
like in animation movies where the animation has drastic changes throughout the film. (such as Dante's Inferno anime movie.)

Saph drew a more "Tween Cream" IMO, but the "white spot" area is my biggest beef on the art.  contrary to beliefs, Cream has an all peach body. Saph appears to be using the "Sonic Team" tail for Cream too.  I say take notes on the B&P... yeah, good try for "Tween Cream"

Cream on the left is soooo cute.  Would love to see her as a replacement from the current one.  Just trim her hair down and make her shorter, legs are beautiful, but a bit long.  So, I'd vote yes on the supporting artist.

But which ever you decide I support.  You're the creator of this project and we're all lucky you're even working on this :D

In my opinion the only thing that's "bothers" me a bit about your sketch are the ears need to be fixed a bit...the rest of it looks great...
on the other hand Otter's sketch does not impress me all that much...seen many artists out there that could do better
and to be more specific the eyes look kinda bad,the buttocks are...well too developed for someone that's supposed to be at a young age(ofcourse it could be the pose the artist has used),the tail looks a bit unnatural kinda reminds me at the thorn end of a scorpion tail. Also I will agree with Aval0n the clothes do look like they are either painted on her or like stickers not really nice.
all in all I don't like otter's sketch all that much, then again that's my personal opinion and I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, but you wanted opinions and here's mine(for all the good that it can do).

support interest could be good, however as you've said communicating is sparodic and for all I know as a fan it seems that this might push the game back.

However the upside is, you don't have to do the art and it gives you more free time for other stuff and working on the mechanics of the game. It seems a bit like a double edge sword in that regard, but I'm not too sure what's worse. Possible increase to the delay by having a new artist so all the art peices to be replaced, but your work load being lightening as you don't do the drawings or full work load with the possibility of faster release than the other option.

Again though, perhaps it will be faster as this person has already done the cute swimsuit picture and might be able to make his/her own versions quite quickly and then all you have to do is intergrate the image rarther than fully draw it.

I personally perfer the one on the left, looking like the head appears correct in preportions and still cute and sexy in that positions, however again there is always a good side and bad side to change.

13 years, 6 months ago
To be honest I prefer the one on the left (SaphireOtter). Though I prefer the pinup styles, and I like the clothing drawn on to look like it is on tight rather than baggy.

My vote is to take on a support artist, as you seem rather busy and it could sure help. I really like SO's style!
kmilligan5
13 years, 6 months ago
I think that the styling on both of them are very good but the one on the right gives a more field of depth and shows the original cream as opposed to the one on the left. but the one on the left is a good starting point in which to build upon his or her skills.

Ps both are great i vote to take on supporting artist but to make it as close to the original as possible it makes it a good bases.

I have been a long fan for a while back from Fa and so on i can see the detail you put into your work +) tho my b day is in 12 days i hope to see a update =) but no rush you cant rush art and you can't rush a artist

The moment you think you understand a great work of art, it’s dead for you

DrakeTLD

I dunno, I think the SO sketch looks a little cartoon-ish. I think if they mirrored your style more it would be better. You seem to have made a nice mix between the Cream from the cartoon & a more ... "human?" hybrid that I think is more appropriate to the game.
Blackstratus
13 years, 6 months ago
Personally, I think nothing should be decided until all 5 are available. Then, once all 5 are available, you put all 5 into a picture, show your comparisons, and THEN have people decide. Overall SO is a good artist, but how can we blindly decide without seeing the others?
SapphireOtter
13 years, 6 months ago
I totally agree ^u^
I didn't realize he had chosen 4 other artist and to be honest i do want to see what they can do, and if their art turns our better then mine, awesome, cuz that will definitely get my creative mojo going to do better on my next project. <83

Yeah since you don't try recreate what Aval0nX did until now but just follow his way and create new images but with the same face, body, clothes and another things that Aval0nX used until now.
SapphireOtter
13 years, 6 months ago
The pictures I have drawn and submitted to Aval0nx are just trial pictures, their has been no decisions on what will happen with the art in the game, only that the artists that the CBG team have chosen and the art that the artists have submitted will be evaluated, they could be looking for either skill, style, or consistency or even all three, but there has been no word as of yet as for what they are looking for, they also could still be considering if they even need a support artist.
So the picture that i have drawn is just done in my own style and I submitted to Aval0nx in support for the game.
Aval0nx has seen my art and likes what he sees so far, BUT! he could still say no and decline my art, if that be, then its his decision.
So please don't assume that the CBG team are just gonna jump at the first artist they see just because it fits their needs, they do consider the fans, which is you guys, and they will do whats best for their game.
solo707
13 years, 6 months ago
IMO, support artists are a good idea but only if their work consists of helping with small details on already implemented characters, coloring, but no more than that, unless you plan on redrawing all characters from scratch. I wouldn't mind seeing Amy and Tails in SaphireOtter's style though.
Just my opinion.
On a side note: I love the game, for whatever reason, despite being gay and not particularly interested in cubs. You've done great work so far and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished version, whenever that might be. It's my understanding that you haven't been in the most comfortable position in real life, and I think I speak for everyone when I say we admire your dedication to this project and the time you've put into despite the situation. Not all your fans have been patient with the game and supported you while you work on it, and I respect you for putting up with the ones that haven't. Also, I encourage you to go into professional video game design. Perhaps you should try for an internship somewhere.

I'm kind of new here, so I'm not sure if this is the right ettiquette, but you might want to send out a note so Grose. I saw this a while ago and thought it was really good (and you can definitely tell they're a big fan of your work so they'd probably be interested in working together with you):

So far in my playtesting I really love this game, though it still seems so much needs to get done... If you need any help with the programming, I don't know what the current situation is, but I'm an experienced Flash/ActionScript developer and would be happy to lend a paw. =) I can't wait to see the next version, and I'd also be happy to help financially support the game if necessary. PM me if either of those things would help!

A possible solution would be to assign this person specific characters so that no 2 artists work on the same character.

13 years, 6 months ago
Saphire's style is pretty good.  Could use some more fine tuning but he/she'd be a great support artist.
stickyglue
13 years, 6 months ago
I think that support artists should only draw characters you haven't already made your own models in the game and/or help with the coloring process.

SapphireOtter, your work is really cute, but it is just not the same Cream I used to. I would definitely approve of you working on the characters brought into the game via cell phone though.

As always, I love your work Aval0nX! Don't worry about rushing, take your time and update when you're ready. ^-^

Their style is pretty different. Taking on a second artist to help sounds good, but you guys should find a middle ground between your art styles to keep up consistency.

Some questions from participant:
- similarity with your style considered as plus or minus
- how many sketches of the one person you can get without bothering too much
- what situations can be sent to you: only strictly following the text or new "fan-made" also possible
mylilsecret24
13 years, 6 months ago
I love Otter's style, but you probably should draw different characters. Example: Avalon could draw sonic and Otter could draw cream. The only reason I say this is because you have different styles, so it might look weird having different looking people in different scenes.
midnightvulpine
13 years, 6 months ago
Support artists are a good idea. What I would suggest for it, since they will never quite match your style, is to assign certain characters to whatever artists you choose. that way, across a single character, the art will be similar. Unless you don't mind a few differing styles of a character within the game itself.
megafat
13 years, 6 months ago
This is a good idea if an artist couldn't replicate your style but it's close to it or within universe (of the flash). Whatever takes some of the workload off of you. The drawing on the left reminds me of 1950's pinups, so maybe a calander on the computer that uses a 1950's pinup style for each month. Investigating the calander could help with whatever plot Vanilla is coming up with could make for a good way to investigate whatever's going on.

Man, now i'm rambling.
jdgray68
13 years, 6 months ago
I haven't read all the comments here yet, so someone might have mentioned this already. If u find someone (like sapphire) who's good, but with a different style, u could have them draw some of the other peripheral char's (like tails and amy), for u. That way the difference in style will not "irritate" anyone.
humbird0
13 years, 6 months ago
Personally, I prefer SapphireOtter's proportions. Especially the style of the face and proportions of the upper torso.
However for the purpose of this game, it would make sense to keep things consistent with your style, so your pointers are relevant.

I still like your art best Aval0nX, it gives the game a unique touch that your style brings to the table. Not that there is anything wrong with SaphireOtters drawing, I can't even draw a line properly so I never comment on other peoples work in a negative fashion. You would have to find someone with a similar style or someone who is super good and has tons of experience drawing Sonic characters. Either way, not an easy thing to find at all. So I'm fine with just your art being in the game, I'm a fan of your work so thats fine by me! ^_^

You should be the head artist and make the calls on what things should look like but it may help to have other artist works on things you are not good at.
Drowchan
13 years, 6 months ago
I have to disagree with you on one thing, Aval0nX. The clothes on Otter's version look more realistic than yours, unless you're aiming for Cream wearing very loose swimwear for some reason. Yes, his don't quite have enough depth, but yours look as if they're two to three sizes too big, which is definitely less aesthetically pleasing.

Otherwise I do prefer your version, dunno if I'm just biased because it's the one we had so far or not. When I saw his version for a second I thought that was supposed to be Vanilla.
Adanac
13 years, 6 months ago
You are very good AvalonX, but honestly, i like very much the colored version from SapphireOtter.
It's more close to the official version in the cartoon.

If you're concentrated in the lineup and SapphireOtter in art, probably the game progresses more rapidly.
Metatron76
13 years, 6 months ago
I'm more used to your version.  It feels more ...natural to the game.   Overall he draws good, and i wouldn't mind seeing his art.  Though i would prefer it if he sticks closer to your original shaping.  Also the smal nose really bugs me.  The bit with the arm is a matter of perception, but i too find it a bit thin.

I think each has there own advantages. I am here to suggest taking parts of both for the final product. the biggest point to make is head shape. I love the shape used by SapphireOtter compared to your own. I have felt that the head shape on yours made her feel almost like a midget vanilla than cream. Then comes the eyes, while both artists have they eyes good I like the shape of Aval0n's and the pupils of S.O.'s. those two points aside for changed the rest I would leave as Aval0n has made it so far. the only issue that needed to be addressed in my mind was the head shape really.  Let me know what you think.
sarge77
13 years, 6 months ago
Heres my suggestion: Avalon, keep doing Cream and you only. Then have each one of your supporting artist do one of the supporting characters in as close to your style as possible. This should keep each characters continuity to it's fullest! Anyone can color Cream like you, but only you can draw Cream like you!!!
sarge77
13 years, 6 months ago
And in the case of a picture with more than one character, it should be a colaboration of artists doing their own character as a pool drawling.
dragono1130
13 years, 6 months ago
I'll have to agree with Sarge77 on this one.  you keep doing one character and have others do other characters in a similar style as yours  It seems like it would be an interesting idea.  And as for the combining part...again, Sarge 77 beat me to the punch.  It would be an interesting style and, I think, as long as nobodies art style clashed too much with another (and if they are following your style, then it shouldn't) it would work out just fine.

i have to say i like your one more Avalon well the head at the most part as i like SaphireOtter's body i would have to say sarge77 said on this i think it woul be better for a supporting character and than a main. it means you can get a lot more work done faster with out messing up the character's and get the sub character out of the way. art style clashing will be a problem as dragono1130 has said. it will destory the atmosphere and btw you art is improveing its better better each time Avalon

Well...

In honesty the face from Sapphire Otter's is cuter, and personally I prefer the look. The small nose/mouth structure is great and the ears further back gives it a nice finish.
However the body structure, past what has already been annotated does feel like a few anatomical details are missing.
From comparison I would suggest the neck bone detail, the belly being more curved with the waist line and possibly some chances to the bust area?
As for the look in the game... its hard to say as while this Cream does look cuter she also looks younger :/
Not sure how good/bad the style would look in sexual acts; could go either way :D

As for the support artist Idea, I think its a nice idea as long as there is consistency, so possibly a character by one artist? Like people have said, anything that reduces some of your stress eh?

Liked the idea of a calender on the computer, like a hidden section showing fan art?

Anyhoo... that's my 2 cents :D

Wow, you took the words right out of my mouth! Almost exactly...which is kinda weird.

I personally think that, while I admire your work and your style, AvalonX, I just think that your style really misses out on taking advantage of how cute Cream is. I can imagine two possible reasons for that. One is that the way you draw her ears could be detracting from the roundness of her face, which is stereotypically cute. And the other is that you might be drawing her face as more of an oval than a circle...but it's hard to tell.

Still, as Xornor pointed out, your art style does make her seem less young, so maybe that's a good thing. Still love your work, if nothing else than for the writing. :P

One thing on Sapphire's pic.  I think that the smaller mouth/nose area gives cream a more feminine look.  It makes her look more realistic and gives her a little more youth.

My vote's for SapphireOtter over your style a bit, nothing personal.

If you can get him/her to draw in your style or any other people to your style and it must be the exact same style or the games art will just not look right, yours in my opinion is better, but other people will disagree but for it to work they must be able to draw in your style. I think it is a great idea :) If they can draw like you. O and Aval0n im glad that you read everyones comments, some artists would just ignore peoples oppinion but you dont and i respect you for that.

I try to reply as much as I can, but sometimes it's kinda hard, considering that you comments can jump from 1 - 14 in minutes, and once even Inkbunny prevented me from replying, under suspicions of spamming hehehehe

Yeah I understand that, but I think it's great that you read the comments and reply to them, not all cause that would take ages and would be little to much to expect from you. Thank you for CBG it's a great game keep up the good work and take your time. But as to back up my discussion on the art it would be a good idea as long as you taught them your own style or the scene art would look wrong. :)

I think bringing in a second artist would be a great idea maybe even 2, however doing so (and i know this has to been mentioned before so forgive me if i am over repeating it) is consistancy in the scene art. I mean you have a very noticable art style so any artist trying to mimic it isnt going to be easy.

perhaps for the time being maybe keep them as the pics on vanilla's computer. or if your really still worried about getting this done soon to shut up the naggers you could add the different styles in now and then maybe later add yours and have those as an alternitive version.

I aint going to lie man i like the other style (saphireotter) its exstremly cute but i dont want you to feel you need others to do pics you want to get this done. I say best thing is to just add these to special pics on vanilla's PC

Probably not, but that's up to Aval0nX. ^^ I have all the time in the world to color, so I don't think I'd ever need help.

Well, Otter's work is definitely closer to the original model Cream.  Other people have already mentioned it but it should really come down to how consistent you want the game to look?  How much work would you be willing/want to give to others?  For my two cents in the matter, I'd say that considering how stressing this project seems to be taking on some extra artists on is definitely a good idea.  Regardless of what you decide to do keep up the excellent work guys.

Drawing on the left looked hotter (probs cos she's pushing out her ass and her upper body forward. Draw her in that pose aval0nx and its perfect.
I think saphireOtter's ears and eyes looked better, so maybe incorporate that into your drawings too aval0nx :)

i like the one on the right, it has your unique style and i like it. i think the one of the left is trying to make it looks like the official Sega art, not saying that it doesn;t look good. to me they are both great drawings, but for the game i would prefer Aval0nx 's

to continue my opinion, i think that since you have been working so hard on this game yourself, it would be great if i can see the final drawings in the full version are done by you, please keep up the good work Aval0nx.

The style is very cute but I'm very used to your style, it would look weird havign both conflicting styles in the games and would also cause confussion. Both your styles are very different. Unless otter can replicate your style I don't think it would be a good idea because you'd have to redo the whole game.

If you can get them to work on their proportions, and you feel ok with it, I'd prefer a support artist; it'd certainly help with putting updates out faster, and reliving some of your workload. Of course, this is your game; whatever decision you make is alright with me.

If you'll give me a reasonable commission price month-by-month that covers the ongoing work, I will be your support artist. I don't mean a price in the hundreds, just something to cover a bulk of sketches. If you can't afford it, that's fine. Just thought I would make the offer since my commissions are open right now.

It's true that the left drawing looks better than the right but some of the C&C is too nitpicky. People get so wrapped up in details, where the main thing is: get it drawn. Draw it again. Tweak it. When you do the lineart is when you fix everything. The artist can usually tell something looks funky and fix it themself, but if they are asking for help, then it's OK. I prefer redlines over little arrows pointing at ... well, the whole drawing. You may as well put a block of text over it that says "REDRAW THE WHOLE THING."

For me it's like this, I like the top on Aval0nX's bikini, but the bottom looks a little better on SO's. And I like Aval0nX's exclusion of hair from the top of her head, but the left ear has always looked disembodied to me for some reason and would prefer SO's ear-do. I wish there was a way we can fuse the two together... or perhaps we can (evil laugh).

Oh and P.S the bigger the pupils the cutter the design becomes, fact on any drawing.

I feel the need to ask this if you get another artist do we also donate to them kinda like how you take donations to work faster

if we donated who would we donate to a joint share or 1 person?
Aval0nX
13 years, 6 months ago
interesting question, donations are usually pooled and split equally but since most of the support artists are doing a minor job, (unlike Avian, who does ALL the programing, and for example I make all the brainstorming and writing ) donations are usually split via Avian and Me, though the assistants of the game will most likely be rewarded when the project is done.  Remember, this project is still Avian and Mine.

Ooo Ooo I can answer that question for myself, I don't speak for the other artist that Aval0nx and Co. have chosen, but I work for free, and I take commissions and do art trades when I have the chance. ^u^

Was a great idea have another artist helping you but since he/she don't try change what you did until now. This one redraw the Cream that we know and love that is the one that you created. Like i said is a excelent idea since the artist dont put their pride on the line and just draw like you does.
If you change the faces of your Chars now you 'll be creating another game and don't the CBG.

I forgot to ask im not in a rush just a few questions now that i think about it sonic lives right across the street will you be able to go over there and do this and have events of sorts kinda like how you can at creams house and on that note will there also be a way to earn more money or find secret money in the game and my last question will there be more secret items?

When do you plan to announce the other artists you are considering to help with CBG?
LeeJay

Otter's cool but for a game to work you need consistancy of style (IMHOP). For that reason I would vote no on another artist doing complete independent pieces of art.

Why not ask
Grose
Grose
I mean, he DID make that one picture of a scene in the game. The one where you catch a peek of Cream's panties when she's changing. It's this one: https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=101311  In case you've forgotten.

I agree Grose's painting style seems rather fitting for the game, and i think he would be a great choice for a supporting artist.
Subarashi

Grose is a lot better than SaphireOtter, his drawnings are similar to Aval0nX while SaphireOtter drawnings will completely change the game or more like create a new game and we want CBG and not  a new game (a least not now ^^).

Just my comments on the swimsuits.

Kids can grow so much I can easily see a parent buying a suit that is slightly loose, rather than one that is too tight.  Of cours,e most parents (not including Vanilla) would probably feel uncomfortable about a very tight suit, as well.
Tight suits can be erotic (showing cameltoes or nipples), but looser suits could be erotic as well - gaps showing nipples or hints of vag, or maybe a bit more butt than was intended.

Also, since she loses her top in the pool, that seems more likely to happen with a loose top, rather than a skin-tight one.  A string bikini top could easily fall off (see below.)

As far as the game itself goes, I'd almost say there is a discontinuity between the description of her suit and the picture that's shown, Sonic was surprised by how "revealing" her suit was, and to me that would imply something either tight with thin material (showing nipples and cameltoe), and/or something that barely covered her, like a string bikini.  As it is in the game, it's more like a simple two-piece, which many parents would have no qualms putting on their daughter.

A string bikini probably wouldn't be as stretchy, and depending on if she retied it each time or just pulled on the tied pieces, that could affect the looseness as well.

Over all SaphireOtter has a much cuter Cream. I gotta say they should be the primary artist. The head of yours just does not look like Cream to me, no offence. :)
KingFuzzy
13 years, 4 months ago
i have to admit, with saphire otter, i like the tightness of the clothing, it gives it a more sexy feel, but yes it could use touch up with more detail, i also like how with otter made it to where the ears do not look like a cape on the head and is well porportioned, but in comparison you have more detail in yours, so perhapes a combination of the 2 styles might work?

im very much so a critic <.<

Frankly, I like SO's drawing of Cream better (it's much more loyal to the actual Sonic series' Cream) but since it's your game it's obviously up to you. I would definitely like to see more of SO's work in your game, even if the contrasts are stark.

I prefer a rounder head for Cream to be honest. Aval0nX got the body right, but SO's head would be closer to how Cream should look if you keep the shape and place Aval0nX's face feature on it.
