This is my latest try at sculpting the Great Old One. And the first that didn't end in disaster.
I'm not sure if leaving it like this or add a little more distressing/staining to make it look more like an ancient relic.

Materials: Carved wood and epoxy paste.

P.S. It could be say Cthulhu doesn't qualify as "furry" but he is described in the original story as "A monster of vaguely anthropoid outline" and as a mix of "an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature". So, like all furries, he combines human and animal characteristics.

Available for sale?

Not at the moment, sorry, because it's my only one.
If i could reproduce it I'd sell copies, but all previous attempts have been destroyed in the process of making the mold. I'm afraid of ruining this one in the same way.

My brother has much more experience making molds and casts. I'm planing on making one with his help so I can have copies.

Ah, alright.

Well, that is a cool thing and I'd like one on my bookshelf with my Lovecraft book collection. :3
If you start making more, either from a mold or even better from carved wood like this one, and you end up wanting to put one up for sale, let me know. :)

The stone of the Great Old Ones' images was meant to be utterly alien - and diseased looking, seeming to have been dipped in morbid discharge.

Clark Ashton Smith had the knack of creating from the mine tailings of Boulder Ridge, images that LOOKED like they were millions or even a billion years old.

Idols of the Great Old Ones include: Cthulhu, Chaugnar Faugn (actually the god itself), Zoth-Ommog (had to be destroyed by hitting it with a star-stone) and maybe others. I stopped buying Mythos tales when they drifted into fan-fiction and no effort was made to be consistent in any way.

I think all Mythos stories have been fancifcion since 1937.

In a sense, you are correct. Nobody has captured the essense of Lovecraft's psychotic cosmos. Cosmic disease coming down from the stars, filling our oceans and then ... I decided to pay Lovecraft a tribute - by NOT doing a mythos story.

After Lovecraft's passing, August Derleth took over and ran a publishing company and wrote his own mythos stories. A Roman Catholic, he could not countenance Lovecraft's view of a chaotic, hostile, and meaningless cosmos, so he added the Elder Gods, who have imprisoned the Great Old Ones in the youth of the cosmos. He ran things until the 60's and now there seems to be no central guidance. August Derleth wrote to keep WEIRD TALES alive.

Yeah, Derleth added a concept of good  versus evil to the mythos, which was un-lovecraftian. But we have to be thankful for his efforts to save Lovecraft's work from oblivion.
