So guess what movie we saw over the holidays? Yup, Krampus! I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, had a real good 80’s creature  movie vibe to it. A good mix of horror and comedy with mostly practical effects. You know what this means right? Meeting those afore-mentioned criteria means Lil’Shock went stark-raving bonkers for the movie So I decided to doodle up ‘Shock’s L getting a gift from Big K, who was pretty badass in the film. For those that did not see the movie, (and something we actually missed the first time through), that’s not his face. Krampus is wearing a mask of a cadaverous St. Nick with that broken-jaw expression permanently frozen in place. You only get one small glimpse of it actually being a mask in one close up where you get a good look at his eyes. Any who! Enjoyed working on this one, so did L, and hopefully some of you will find it amusing.

Ah yes, the beaked mask of the Plague Doctor, in the days when epidemics culled the population and religion throttled human endeavor (such as medical research). Amulets, silly masks & folk remedies to TRY and control the plagues.

Actually the plagues stopped because they eradicated the genetic lines that could not fight  the disease. A gene, perhaps akin to that of AIDS resistance, determined whether you died within hours after start (no gene), got sick but recovered (and claimed it was bacon grease or some other junk remedy that cured you) (1 gene + 1 plague gene), was resistant (2 genes and no plague genes).

Perhaps this gene was also akin to religious obsession & nonsense, because people began questioning the Church and even going freethinker. Science took off !
