The cycle repeats?

Last few days I noticed people, mostly content creators, started complain about youtube again. This time it is not youtube on itself but the companies which pulling away their stuff because they don't like videos on which their advertisements are shown. So youtube looses money and youtubers loose their ability to get paid for their work. I now noticing that many now moving to VID.ME as alternative.

It reminds me of how people started abounding newgrounds and started post their animations on youtube. Back then there were different odds. But maybe its time for people to slowly move to vidme if we wanna watch all the lets-plays and creative people. I dont think youtube will go down. It still has cat videos, lol. As long as cat-videos exist, youtube will live. But I dont think it will be the same. Unless they fix the issue and people will crawl back. Thou knowing the youtube ability to fix issues I dont think it will happen.

I still gonna watch youtube. Some people still use MySpace to this day heh. But now I will be trying out VIDme. And i think of finally start making videos. Maybe I will end up making just 2-3. But will be worth the shot. And of course Im not gonna making porn for vidme, lol. I will make account on pornhub for this lol.

Youtube will survive as long as it keeps all their sufficiently big players (Pewdiepie, Markiplier, jacksepticeye, Game Grumps, etc.)

However, both Pewdiepie and Markiplier have already dropped hints that they would be willing to give up their Youtube channels with the right push. In WSJ's fake scandal Pewdiepie made it clear he didn't care about his own welfare so much as those who worked with him on his cancelled projects, and Markiplier is a bleeding heart who's occasionally had to stop himself in Sexy Crying Man videos to make it clear he wasn't saying he'd quit Youtube because he sure made it sound like he was.

While Jack has the same basic selfless traits, I haven't heard him say anything similar.

Losing those three would already be a huge blow to Youtube, not so much because of the money they directly bring in but because of the butterfly effect ("FUCK YOUTUBE THEY CHASED PEWDIEPIE AWAY!!!") that would follow.

We shall see.

Thou I want there is to be a site which can rival youtube. It will motivate them to put more effort into what they do. Atm youtube more-or-less has a monopoly on the market of online videos. And monopoly in most cases is damaging for people and market.

Nah, man - the cycle continues!

This is the first I've heard of vid.me. It's good to have competition, but if their biggest thing is "we're not YouTube" it might end up like the Weasyl of furry art sites - technically better in some respects, but not viable by itself for people trying to make a living. >_>

yeah, but i kinda rather see people using video sites and a place to promote themselves or just for fan, as people did original on youtube. And people who wanna make cash with their videos they can always ask for donations, tips, or promote their patreon pages. But its just me. I, of course, dont wanna some of my fav channels like "Geography Now" go down because they cant make money with it. But ScieShow channel do make income through patreon and some tshirt sales.

I can't say I disagree - but of course, I don't make a living off of content.

In the end, passionate people will always find a way to fund their activities. But platforms can have a big impact on that, and in some cases may curtail creativity if they deem it unacceptable - or merely potentially damaging to their profits. :-/
