I don't know if this is just a copy of Rust and Ark style crafting games, because I've never played them, but its interesting that it is the only one of the three that I'm interested in playing.
I guess that is the real value of graphics and the correct setting; appealing to your target audience.
However, this can easily become a problem if people don't want to play just another game with the exact same gameplay mechanics, even if they are enjoyable.
On another note, some things that came to mind while playing, camping in a corner against a cliff face and fighting for my survival against the horrors of the Conan Exiles world.
Take, for example Minecraft; resources don't respawn.
Take every MMO with crafting; resources do respawn.
Everything that isn't Minecraft seems to have a very limited map size, by comparison, even if it is a large map.
I'll be interested to see how Conan Exiles progresses, while lamenting the fact that it'll never really be what I want from a survival crafting game. So far, it is pretty fun, though I've only been playing single player to get used to this kind of system... which took a bit of effort, even if we don't count the initial lag and freezing. I almost rage-quit... in fact I did, because of the lag. But then I came back to it, because I really wanted to see what the game had to offer. I'm glad I did... though, I might wait and see how development progresses before attempting to play "online". It does seem like it would be a lot more fun as a multiplayer game, though I am not in the habit of engaging in the multiplayer aspect of games, even in an MMO.
Has anybody else checked out Conan Exiles? What are your thoughts? And for those who have played other similar crafting/survival games, how does it compare so far?
