More thoutgs on patreon

Would be nice to have the extra money, still, I don't wanna hide my art with a paywall, even if there's people that do it and they have their reasons to, I feel inmoral to do that. I want my art to be shared, that people that would enjoy to see it without having to cringe for a teasing croped image or patreon logos hiding half of it. I know that doesn't matter whatever I do, would be people that won't like what I do, no matter how hard I try. So I will go for something I feel fine with, once I find it...

Still, I'm sure to have a patreon for my comic project, with the same mentallity and the feeling people won't give a cent is what holds me back to start it, cause if I don't feel that someone would be willingly to support it, what chances it has?

Could do something like only patreon votes for themes for pics each month or some early notes and sketches of incoming projects. Plus that I might have to keep myself active there too to make it work...

Many use patreon as a tip jar with nothing being pay walled at all and they still make a decent amount extra each month to start, throw in WIPS, sketches, extras and other stuff and you will be surprised how many will support you.

I agree with gittons. You don't have to paywall your Patreon page. There's also the option to release HD versions of pics on  Patreon and Standard Definition pics n sites like these.

imo, the way to do it is have consumer stuff(jpegs, <2kx2k reso) free and collector stuff(full res renders, png, psd/lip) behind a paywall.
That's what I like to see anyway

An alternative, people on patreon get an image a month before anybody else.  Post it there first, after a month, post it everywhere else.  Easy and makes people think they get to be that ever popular yet 100% pointless "First!".

The key here is to remember that Patreon is about garnering and retaining an audience of supporters. There are different ways to do that, as some have suggested here. Use Patreon to fund the comic, or expand on that and use it for some of your own suggestions: allow it to be a place where your supporters influence what you work on (be careful not to get overwhelmed by such a thing, and set boundaries to retain your creative freedom).

Other options are to withhold your work for a period of time to patrons-only, and then release them for general public. Or, offer higher quality versions for those that choose to support.

Just bear in mind that the market is a bit saturated, and you may have to experiment to see what works best for you. Be open and transparent about any changes you make, so your audience is aware of how that impacts them.

Good luck!
