Well Darn

I just recieved my Cintiq 13HD, I plugged it in and tried it out...only to find that the middle of the screen was ungodly unfocused. It wasn't the drivers, and it wasn't my PC. I went through a number of steps to fix the issue such as restarting, re-installing the drivers, etc. only to find that the problem persists.

Welp looks like it's return/refund time! Thank god for Amazon Prime...

So what are you getting instead?

After thinking it over a while, I think I'll get something in the Intuos Pro series - it's less expensive and a professional tool closer to what I'm used to!

I've had an Intuos Pro for over a year now. The drivers need restarting on occasion, but it's a pretty solid tablet otherwise.

I've heard that happens with the Cintiqs. I thought it was a small problem but apparently it does happen more than not.

Is Wacom's quality really that bad?  For the longest time they were charging an arm and a leg just for a cheap TN panel display, and now even their IPS panels have quality control issues?

I'm glad I have an ancient Intuos 1, which I believe I bought back in 2001.  It's been rock solid with the really old driver.  I've heard everything newer has been nothing but problems.

There's almost little to no issues with the intuos line. Not surprising since it's not as complex as a Cintiq. But as far as quality control, in comparison with other brands, Wacom does have the best. However, when you're spending between $1500 to $2500 dollars on a piece of tech that's faulty out of the box it stings a HELLUVA lot more.

I myself, previously used an intuos2 for 10 years before I upgraded to a Huion GT-220. I can definitely vouch for the Intuos' rock solid functionality. But I'm also having quite a great time with My GT-220, a 22inch pen display at nearly a quarter of the cost of a Cintiq of a similar size. Huion's definitely had their share of quality control issues, it's certainly upsetting, but at a quarter of the price it's not the end of the world.

Well, one thing I can say is that only the old driver (from 2006) works correctly.  Every newer driver I've used has been a nightmare to get working.  So while my Intuos 1 has been rock solid, with a proper vintage driver, the newer drivers are shit.

In particular, my biggest beef was with the driver from 2014.  Every time I touched the pen to the tablet, the driver would start writing a log file to the HD, apparently tracking all my inputs.  This caused a huge amount of lag, making the tablet unusable.  I was unable to solve the lag problem, so I revert to an older driver that didn't write logs.  I have no idea what Wacom was thinking, but yeah, all drivers I've tried since 2006 have been nothing but headaches.  I can't say I'm a fan of the company these days.

That was the same for my intuos2. When I built a new PC, I was shocked when my tablet started going haywire even after I downloaded the newest driver. Just like yours, the 2006 driver was the only one that fixed the problem and allowed it to function correctly.
