Faithry has passed away

I received an email from Faithry's father informing me he passed away from a brain hemorrhage on the 8th November, age 34. This is why we have not heard from him since then.

You said it. I can't say I knew Faithry well, but we'd chatted once or twice and they were a presence in the fandom. Now there's a swan-shaped gap. :-/

OMG.

Faithry from FA?
Omegaltd

Yes. that Faithry. He obviously had no idea it was happening as the last message I received from  was a few days before.
Ainoko

Damn. Gonna spread the word on FA. If you get any more info please let us know.
Omegaltd

Thanks, I am not allowed to post comments at FA any longer. If his father sends me any more information I will pass it on.
I will be continuing the commissions Faithry arranged, if those still want them. They will have to contact me here on IB or by my email; omegaltd18@juno.com. I will be respecting Faithry's wishes that the tables are never turned on Faithry's character and that that character never flies off the handle.  Faithry did give all the fans permission to use the character in the fan fiction.

You get banned?

I'll update my journal with the info you just gave me.

I had problems with the moron moderators and trolls at FA, I wanted them to ban me but it is much effort for them to actually ban someone. I suspended my account which is the closest I can get to deleting it. I did log in to read the comments on Faithry's page.

Oh my god. :( Oh my god... I can't believe it. I did talk to Faithry all the time and I was wondering. We did roleplay every now and then, too. I'm completely floored. Was Faithry so young, too? I mean, I've known Faithry for SO long now! I can't believe this, this is shocking to me.

It happens a lot recently .... people I really like ... or love .. die. This morning I tried to chat with Faitrhy on ICQ and for the first time ever, it said Offline. I didn't think much of it, and thought I'll just try again tomorrow. And now I learn this ...

Yes, Faithry and I would always send a message (usually about the commissions) if we have not heard from each other after three or four days. After two weeks, I knew something was wrong. I was hoping I was just having email problems, sometimes this happened with his email address, but this time that was not the problem. it was confirmed when I was asking other if they heard from him. Although this possibility was one of the first answers that came to mind, i did not want to believe that was the answer. If I recall the pages I made for him and sent to him, his name was Felix Koks.
I assume, since I last received a message from him was two days prior to his passing, he passed quietly and peacefully not knowing what was happening. I believe if he new he was sick, or had to go see a doctor, he would have let us know we might not hear from him for a period of time.

I knew Faithry pretty well, or, as well as one can expect. Faithry was always diligent about keeping their real life and online life separate, so i didn't get to know too much about them outside of their online identity.

As a person, he was kind, and fun to chat with. he helped me keep my sanity during a pretty rough time, back around 2005. i feel really bad now for not talking with him much over the last year. its easy to take the ability to chat with a friend for granted, sometimes. :/

As a character, Faithry was the dommy swan everyone knows. I'm sure the lights will be left on in her lab for a while to come, keeping her work going; her employees and some of her friends will see to that. :)

Both the person, and the character, will be missed dearly.

Remember to celebrate their life, rather than dwell on mourning their death. I'm sure they would much prefer a jovial remembrance, over a somber one.

I never knew him personally, I only knew him through the art and comics that he got (and even then, most of it never catered to my kinks).
This is sad news and he will be missed by many.

Faithry kept repeating the message, he did not do the art. He arranged the commissions. All the art on his page was drawn by someone else. I can still do the commissions, I believe he would have wanted them to continue.
Dasaki

Huh, I always thought it was joint effort from both of you, I can be really bad at paying attention sometimes... I never made it onto any queues, but I would love to work out a short comic once I've caught back up from MFF and the holidays.

He gave me a list a while back of those wanting commissions, not all involving faithry. I was awaiting an updated list so I have no idea who was next. So, to be fair I will just have to take the commissions as the person wanting them writes in. After Barados's story is done, one of the commissioners has already taken the position for the next one to be worked on.

Please do not repost the works on other forums without the permission of the commissioner, artist and character owners (these people should be the only ones officially posting the work). Faithry, in his last communication to me, did not declare either way whether he ws opposed to the reposting by people other than those who held the rights, so I assume it was alright with him.

I probably won't be on that list, but if you're willing, I would like to be added to the end of it.

That sucks. I've known Faithry for a long time, although its been a few years since we spoke regularly. I do believe we met through my club on Tapestries, The Golden Lash (i was the founder, but haven't been involved in years). I didn't know she was a he, but i expected as much, after all, on the internet, the men are men, the women are men, and the children are FBI agents.

I hope where ever he is, he is what and who he wishes to be, and most of all is very happy as he was a wonderful person who deserves it.

I have a painting of the club's denizens from Wolfie peeking out from behind my monitor (I'm not a regular, it's just good art). Faithry's just behind you. Even after death, the echoes of our life continue.

It is indeed good art. Actually there's two of me, i had i think 5 characters on their before i trimmed it back and left after locking horns with White Wizard, although i would've likely left soon enough thanks to RL, since i was already in the process of handing it off to Ruhemaus, my chosen successor. Lets see, in that pic is Allegro and Fluxxx, the only two that were staff, though a few others would turn up now and then, Wash, plus i had an MLP character back before the current series, and a kinky Care Bear, plus IIRC others, though i can't remember there names/species, but there's prolly a list around here somewhere.

Faithry was planning to take advantage of being a member of my private art mailing list and had plans on having one of his stories turned into a comic. A shame I will never know which story he wanted done.

Wow, that would have been nice to have seen.  :(

Long time no chat (or ordering a CD) on Yahoo IM, BTW.  I think I was on it a year ago.  I don't remember if I used my full name/email address or this one, though.  Sad to find you here because of someone posting a link in an IRC channel.

Well, His father gave me permission to use Felix's character. I am planning a story where Faithry has a daughter (which Felix did approve on his FA site. Kirisha Raptor had me design Avante, Faithry's daughter and Felix approved). Unfortunately, like the memorial painting of Felix and Faithry, it has to wait until I have free time.

So sorry to hear about this. He was one of the first people I got to know when I discovered the fandom, well over 10 years ago... Didn't talk too often since the early times, but I've always been very happy to know him, or at least Ambia. I'm very glad I got to draw for him all those years back. Rest in peace.

I was just informed about this.

I did a few gift art pictures for Faithry a while back, but never knew the person behind the feathers.
Still, it's a bit of a blow to hear that someone with so much creativity and inspiration has gone on to whatever lies beyond.

Sorry to hear for the loss. I never knew Faithry personally but I saw so much work made by that one name. The pictures and comics I remember reading were all black and white, yet beautifully done. That showed you didn't need color or improved high tech shading to make great work. Sad to see the person behind the name is gone. I also think it's honorable and commendable that you'll continue the unfinished pieces of the work that was started. I can also mention that the only saving grace for this whole situation is that you got clarity behind the disappearance. Some people online never find out what happens to the other person behind the screen when they've been gone for so long.

yes... not knowing is the worst thing to live with. I am happy that his father looked through his e-mails and was kind enough to let me know what happened. It must have been difficult for him to do so, only two weeks after... I was asked by many to ask his father if there is an address to send cards and condolences to, so I sent the message. Now we wait for him to respond, but if he does not we all understand why.

I was looking through the gallery to look at the other artist's art gifts. Kirisha Raptor had me draw up a character named Avante but since I didn't read the posted description, i was unaware this character was supposed to be Faithry's daughter. Faithry's comments appeared to make the character official. I still have the original.

I believe his father informed me because faithry was on my art mailing list and thus there was a large number of contacts listed in the CC box. I assume all other messages were single person messages. But, I am honored that he contacted me.

This is very sad news. I knew Faithry from my early days in the fandom (1999) and we had various RL furmeets that we went to as well as our share of RP's on Tapestries. They used to attend my birthday parties and we went to cons like Eurofurence.

After the dutch furry groups split up for various reasons, I lost touch with Faithry and haven't really spoken with them over the years at all. Nevertheless, Faithry did influence my life and as stupid as it may sound, I will cherish this Gamecube controller I got from them for my birthday as well as feel guilt for not talking to them more in recent years...

Faithry/Ambia always came across as well spoken, intelligent, and insightful, both in posts he made and in conversation/gaming with him. He had a certain unique humor to him which he could often interject between being serious, and I honestly admired him. He helped drive a part of the fandom, even largely as a commissioner, with his ideas and ability to work with you. Whether as a swan or sheep, innocent or lab coat bound, he'll be missed.

yes. Faithry kept mentioning that. Some of the other faithry art was done by another artist, but Faithry proclaimed he was a writer, not the artist. Sadly, a new story he wanted drawn was never submitted due to his sudden passing.

sorry to hear this news.

But I would like to know what will happen with the commisons?

COuld you give us a statement about how to continue and who whe have to contact for this?
Omegaltd
8 years, 8 months ago
Faithry lined up a list of commissions for me to do, so he would have wanted them to continue or at the very least complete the list. The only difference is that I will have to check over any scripts to make sure Faithry's character maintains the behavior that Felix established for her. All commission works will go directly through to me instead of going through Faithry.
