Iphone help?

So, a friend gave me an iphone 4s. He found it in his car when he bought it a few months ago from a used car dealership. The problem is that it is icloud locked. And we have no way to find the original owner. Can anyone help, or know someone who can? My previous phone is dead. So I really need this one to work.

Apple's security measures guarantee that it will not allow you to unlock the phone, nor can they reset it (it's their number one complaint, that it "couldn't possibly be true" that they do not have the ability to bypass their own security.)

One of the major problems Apple runs into, are a similar situation where people sell their iPhones/iPods on e-bay and forget to wipe their account or sign out first. Screws the buyer over fairly well. The best you could do is report it to Apple that you found it in the manner that you did and ask what they would like you to do with it.
