Yesterday a friend showed me an AI video of one of his drawings, using the twitter AI, he was really impressed
more and more friends are amazed by this AI, while the movement was just ok and it had a lot of inconsistencies, I tried it
My University thesis was about AI, showcasing it was shit, way before the AI Boom, but the results were interesting, most people didn't mind how bad it looked, so the Thesis was slowly turning into theorizing about a tool for indie animators, basically input keyframes and create inbetweens
I could graduate just by my average grade, so the Thesis was no longer necessary, and I didn't finished it, but that theory stuck in my mind
I tried the grok AI to do simple inbetweens, but it's so bad, it's so shitty, and no consistency at all, it's like a trained monkey showing tricks they can do, but nothing meaningful
the video is ok, but does things I didn't ask, and never do what I want to do, and everything has the same animation movement, there's no style
turns out there are other AI tools to do inbetweens, but it's so expensive and require subscriptions, and other people tried it and has the same complaints as me, and you can just put 2 keyframes, while in an animation you might need more
while I'm not fully againts AI, I don't find it useful for anything, if I want to ask something I can just search for it, bc the AI allucinates and gives wrongs answers, and if I know enough about something and want to use it, it's too dumb
Again, like a trained monkey doing neat tricks but nothing meaningful
My only hope is for the AI bubble to explode so it can lower the prices and maybe someday someone can make an animation Tool like the one I described in my thesis.
