There's a new law that went into effect called SB 20 in Texas.  Should we be worried?  What should I do?

texas is one of the worst states to be anything, or into anything

thought it seems to only apply to AI depicting children and i am still unsure if furry cub can be construed as child porn, because there is a clear separation between fantasy vs reality

The bill specifically says it includes drawings, cartoons, and depictions meant to be underaged.

fuck SB20, fuck the Stalinist vermin in the Texan senate, and fuck any badge-wearing cunt that try to enforce this Third World law

Texans wouldn't let the vermin take their guns away, so they shouldn't let the vermin censor their art either

be obscene, be offensive, and be fucking PROUD of it dude

Definitely, a VPN is a good idea for a start.

I can only hope this will be challenged on first amendment grounds. I was abused as a kid; it was not the same thing as someone making an image. People who don't understand that aren't actually helping kids, they're making themselves feel like they did something.

Hard to say. Most of these things are "only a crime if you get caught" and aren't IP tracking/web traffic skimming measures, so a VPN and keeping a low profile (basically what you've been doing) should be enough.

You need to move to a non-authoritarian country immediately.

Don't worry about it.  Make damn sure your work doesn't get in front of kids, and you'll be fine.  Keep in mind the bill is largely in response to the pornographic comics that some very foolish people decided should be in elementary schools.
Also it won't last long in court, it's a very poorly-worded law.

I wouldn't worry too much. Though there's good reason to leave Texas, it all usually depends on local community and whether or not the police feel the need to enforce it. Usually when I read about cases of people getting charged for online actions, it usually is the result of a sting and the police were following someone for a long while, or they did something so egregious that it caught the attention of law enforcement (like having terabytes of the stuff with intent to distribute). I've never seen anyone arrested for drawing cartoons, especially cartoon animals which typically doesn't count unless you have a really anal judge who has it out for you, but as it goes, if you keep your head down, you likely won't have cops knocking on your door.

Plus MOST of these laws in Texas (in particular) isn't about protecting the public, but about justifying targeting people. But they likely will have more power in communities that would've voted for these idiots anyway. In cities where the last thing people care about is what you're jacking off to on a friday night, you're not likely to get the police knocking on your door.

Texas is a fucking joke. That aside, I too have been looking into things. I’ve gone and sent all of my home traffic through a vpn and have all of my dns going to certain places/services that specifically don’t track or log any query data. I would like to leave the cuntry (yes cunt-ry) but getting citizenship elsewhere is damn near impossible unless you have heritage or some sort of work visa. Just be safe and keep everything as low key as possible and maybe all of the old bible humping extremeists start to die off.

their's already legal precedence that makes SB20 redundant, even before it became a thing. So you might not have to worry. But to be safe, don't be too loud ad open about what you do. Which is a given anyway. Also, i can already see Crunchyroll sueing anyway because it also directly affects the Anime Crunchyroll licenses.
