Faunoiphobia

I just recently coined this term, sorta. It is derived from faunoiphilia, its opposite. Faunoiphilia is the desire to see animals mate, which is great! Nothing wrong with that IMO. But most people, even folks in the furry community seem to be faunoiphobes. There are some artists who want nothing to do with those of us who like feral NSFW art. It almost seems like anthropocentric arrogance; only humans and humanoid anthros are allowed to experience sex. Some who even cringe at the thought of animals with visible genitalia. I don't get these people; they are what I call faunoiphobes. Any thoughts? Can anyone expand on this?

I think it's actually a scrupulosity issue with individuals. For some, scrupulosity is a form of OCD which manifests in anxiety about 'wrong' or 'bad' things... which often encompasses lots of 'unusual' sexuality... which starts to extend further and further, into cartoonish extremes, until you've got people who have lost context outside of anything but their own anxious response and spiraling panic .... until documentary footage, scientific diagrams, are suspicious and strange. It's more meta, I think, than being afraid of even sex itself.

I just see it as a panic/anxiety response.... to do with morality, and not earnest fear of the thing itself. Moreso, their response to their own anxiety about what looking at it 'means' or what 'consequences' occur as a result. Like mirrors facing inward, reflecting each other...

I think it is different from a 'phobia'... as a phobia is to the thing itself; I am not afraid of.... what a spider means, or symbolizes, in society, or what looking at a spider is doing to my psychology... I am afraid of the very body, devoid of any context (unfortunately!). I think once anxiety stems from... morality, societal context, something indirect, it's something separate from a typical 'phobia'.

I could  believe that someone could have something like faunoiphobia, but I also imagine it would present very differently than what is common, lately.

I can see how morality could enter into one's assessment of a piece that included a human character, but how could they object to animals mating with other animals, the way god intended

EDIT:
Though I suppose that most feckless modern "responsible" pet owners do indeed seem to have some problem with animals mating. There's an almost hysterical obsession with neutering not only pets but also random stray animals

EDIT:
So I guess it comes back to the fact that most people are pathologically stupid and self-centered

Oh, and control freaks and busybodies. Many people are control freaks and busybodies

people are not engaging with the perspective of the two animals, they are engaging with their role/responsibility as a 'spectator', the human behind the screen viewing such a thing. Even if the drawing is of 2 animals mating, it was produced by a human hand, and is now seen by the human eyeballs. It is for human consumption and entertainment-- that is what they are freaked out by, afraid of. Not the animals or mating in and of itself... even if it appears that way. It isn't a fear or repulsion towards animals mating ... it is a fear and repulsion towards "humans who think about/draw animals mating".

Of course I agree it is natural, and I think even people with scrupulosity issues understand and feel animals mating is natural. However, they would see the enjoyment and depiction of it as the immoral, dirty part, which scares them.

The part I think one would have a tough time conveying to anyone would be, "it's OK to have any thought inside your own mind".

I think it is a form of being a control freak though... I think they are neurotically afraid of everyone else's capacity to do harm, so they are afraid of any externalization of a 'weird' 'scary' or' strange' thought. But I do think they feel if they aren't constantly vigilant, they are "not doing their part" to be a "good person". I think to the individuals, it is like reporting a molestation they see on the train-- they can't let bad actors remain unpunished. It's just their idea of 'bad actor' extends to the thoughts or feelings a person has ... like an arousal towards mating creatures.

FDR was right when he said that "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself". I think nervous, paranoid, and/or panicking people are the source of most of the modern world's problems.

Thanks for teaching me a couple of new words!
I also think seeing animals mating is great. :3

I would say faunoiphobia comes from some folks’ massive aversion (rational or otherwise) to anything that could remotely be associated with zoophilia.
