My personal thoughts on AI Art

Good morning everyone, it's been a long time since I published/wrote something, but lately I've been quite busy with work (which becomes demanding and unmanageable towards the Christmas holidays) and the now imminent move to the new house in January.

But now let's get to the meat of the matter, AI Art:
I wanted to find out more about the topic and I read several journals of artists I follow regarding their opinions, and almost all of them were very skeptical or worried about it.
So I started digging deeper and also tried to install and run the necessary software on my PC to better understand how it works; strangely, my PC is holding up quite well and I've also started doing some personal experiments regarding the different features (also asking for advice from the large community that has been created).
In my opinion, a very open community and above all with its own ethics regarding the use of this new type of art.
I've come to the conclusion that the arrival of AI will not mark the end of traditional art, digital art and photography; in my opinion it could be (if used correctly and intelligently) a further support for different types of art; for example:
I (as traditional designer) could use AI to create a guide image for a drawing I want to create, also to see if the idea I've in mind can come out well or if perhaps it has some details to fix before drawing it.
A digital artist can ask AI the same thing of the traditional artist or ask for support to fix a detail of his work that perhaps isn't turning out as well as he wants.
A photographer can ask for AI support to improve or fix a detail of a photograph he has taken and cannot immediately do again.
With AI it could be possible to digitally restore old photographs, old films or old documents/books if they are too damaged (with the help of AI, some historical researchers are digitally reconstructing scrolls petrified by the lava of Pompeii).

The only thing that could be done, to prevent AI from being used in an inappropriate manner and for incorrect purposes (see the false images of children in war zones, or the false videos of famous people saying false things), would be that of regulating it, without however resulting in a kind of dictatorship.

Having said that, I hope I have not even unintentionally disrespected various artists, and indeed, I'm very open to building several constructive debates on this matter.

Have a nice day all 👍🏻

That is a good mindset.

Using AI to improve your own art instead of just filling in prompts so that the machine makes images for you?  What a concept!  For real, we could have some killer art if guys were to do this more often.

If you think about it, it's like when digital illustration arrived; more detailed, cleaner images and different tools just in a click (not to mention the subsequent support of touch monitors and graphics tablets)...yet no one at the time had made a big deal out of it.

That's ultimately why we allowed it with restrictions here. Put bluntly, I'm not sure a blanket ban would even be workable, but "show your work and don't charge for just generating images" might be. And the work itself tends to be positively received by the average user.

I don't think it will replace artists, but some types of commission/YCH/adopt may become less viable - just as digital and 3D art reduced the demand for traditional work.

This, in my opinion, will only depend on how the matter is entirely handled
