I've had a bit of a change of heart. I feel I'm in an even better place, mental-health-wise, when I made my original journal (which was already a much better place than I was in years ago).
I've seen some of my own favorite things disappear forever on the Internet over the years, and it just makes me...incredibly sad. There are fan works that really have changed my life, and made me feel better about myself. Even if it's just a dumb fandom thing here or there that made me smile, it always make me sad when the creator takes it down.
I realized that...even though I still loathe most of my older artwork, I figure it probably meant something to some of you out there. It does no good sitting on my hard drive. I figure my old stuff could probably use some love, as imperfect as it is.
So...
...I've decided to reupload my old artwork to this account, starting some time in the next few weeks.
I just want to say, thank you all for giving me space and my own time to heal, and to think about everything. I highly value that.
Seeing your art is downright nostalgic. I think it was some of the first furry art I saw way back when on... I could've sworn it was the VCL library, but maybe I found your pictures on Yahoo Groups, or maybe a custom FurNation website? The oldest picture of yours I have is from 2003. Looking back, it feels like I only caught a glimpse of the tail-end of a previous generation of furry fandom full of original characters and fursonas, before Sonic the Hedgehog fan-art completely took over. I love it all, but it seems like there was a different overall style and approach before that.
Hi there! It was probably all three! I had a page once on the VCL, I did run a Yahoo group (and posted to Playmouse), and I did have a FurNation web site!
Musing: I do feel like traditional art made a stronger showing back in the earlier days, and I'd argue that it still does! I think digital is just cheaper and more accessible these days, which is totally fair! Colored pencils, markers and inking pens aren't cheap!
Honestly, though, I couldn't speak to overall trends in earlier fandom days. I can say that I had no idea what I was doing at all, but I did have a lot of fun!
I'm happy to report that I tried cleaning up what art I could, and have stuff for download at a very large resolution here! I do hope you enjoy!
