A Flow of Information

Morning all (if you're in the U.K; any other time zone? Appropriate that to whatever your current time is); Monkey here, and I thought I'd start by apologising for the drought of content after I uploaded Wake-Up Call almost a month ago, now. With regards to drawings (I'll come onto writing later), lack of time has been part of the reason, but there's another side to it that needs explaining. See, unlike actually talented artists like PandaPaco (one of my favourite furry artists), who can draw practically wherever and whenever, drawing doesn't come naturally to me; as such, I need a very specific mindframe in order to draw effectively. It has to be in the evening, after I've finished whatever academic work I was doing on that day, and I need to be relaxed, but not overly-tired. As exams draw ever nearer, and as coursework deadlines mount up, I'm finding myself in that ideal mindset less and less, meaning that even when I have a free evening, there have been times when I simply cannot find the motivation to draw. The same goes for writing; words only flow in that ideal mindset.

Thankfully, this doesn't mean I haven't been working on anything; quite the contrary. I'm about 60% done with my next drawing, a completely clean (you'll be glad to know...or maybe not; who knows?), seemingly simple scene that is quite personal to me, and shows a major source of outside inspiration that has shaped my furry affinities (pun intended) today. Writing-wise, Chapter 2 of 'A Fish out of Water' is almost done, too, but I'm still struggling to bring myself to write the more lascivious moments (there won't be any full-on sex scenes, but arousal? You bet); I'm also starting a whole new story featuring my main character, Connor the Monkey, but that'll be a long-time coming.

Hopefully that answers some potential questions people have; on a side note, even I'm surprised by how popular Wake-Up Call was in terms of views...though let's be honest, given what it portrays, that's hardly surprising, is it? :)

Over and out,

I'm sure pandapaco had to put a lot of work into it, too - it's his job, after all! Nothing on that level comes naturally - and as far as I know he isn't juggling it with an academic career or studies. So don't get dispirited!

Thanks for the encouragement, mate; don't worry, I'm not dispirited, I just thought I'd write this journal in order to keep anyone who visits my page in the loop about why there's such a large gap in my creative output. Indeed, I think Paco seems to be making art more of a full-time thing for him (he even has a Patreon to fund it for goodness sake xD!), but I'm happy to admit that my skills are still nowhere near his level. Continued practice may well change that, though.

As Green said, this never comes naturally. I don't think I have the natural skill for this, and it's like anything on this world, we start knowing absolute nothing at first, but with lot of passion, devotion, interest for learning and practice, we can reach whenever we want to be.
I'm very honored you consider me one of your favorite artists, that means lots for me <3

Aw, thanks; well your art is very good. I've learned quite a bit over the past year or so about shading and lighting from you art (I would say character proportions as well, but our art styles are quite different; I can't draw cartoon proportions to save my life, sticking instead with more humanistic-looking characters), but fair point; we all start somewhere, and God knows the very first drawings I did were a lot worse than what I'm capable of doing now :)
