Hell yeah! I work at a supermarket and am still not making enough to live on my own. Not even close. My mother always told me that anybody who leaves the house to work deserves to make at least $15 an hour. She's right; minimim wage is pitiful in my country. I only make $9 an hour which still isn't bad, but it's not gonna get me out of my parents' house anytime soon. And you wanna hear something funny? I live in New York, and I didn't get off on May Day either. But I did call in sick today due to a stomach virus, so at least I was still off regardless AND I'm getting sick day pay.
