Christmas. Just about everyone celebrates the joys of the holiday season. Decorating homes and trees with pretty lights, Wrapping up gifts for people to discover on Christmas day. And most importantly, spending time with their loving families… ...And me? Well, It’s just about the same, maybe even better! Christmas season is probably the best time of the year for me and my family now. Since Roukan gets snow every year starting mid November, me and my brothers could start playing in the snow pretty early, which is really fun! That also means we can make some hot chocolate practically every day. The sucky part though is having to sit around in school so close to the holiday season. It always gets me a bit antsy, but I’m sure all the kids are eager to get out of school for christmas break. Plus, dad got our presents and had them wrapped up pretty early, so coming home from school and seeing them waiting under the tree everyday, got me and Max pretty impatient. I’m lucky that the month went by pretty quickly. Starting the day we got out for christmas break, things got really happy and fun in the family. We’d always go out to play in the snow, sometimes dad even joined us. Parties would happen pretty much every night, though I guess they’re more of ‘small gatherings with friends’ than parties. The best thing though is all the nights by the fireplace, just cuddling up with each other and having conversations with my family... But I haven’t forgotten what it was like before all of this. How could I? My life turned around when Richard adopted me into his family less than 5 months ago. I still remember exactly what happened the night he told me. I couldn’t thank him enough then, and I still can’t now. I had lived on the streets for 5 years, suffering, living on bare minimums, and being without loved ones. But now, I have friends, two amazing brothers, a dad who loves me as if i’ve always been in the family, and a place I can finally call a real home; A place where I belong. This will be my first Christmas with them; My new family. So I’ll make sure that I never forget this night for as long as I live. And of all the christmas presents you could give me, thank you for giving me this one in particular. The gift of being loved by a family and being able to love a family. I love you, Chase. I love you, Max. I love you, Dad. Thank you... |
