Can you even begin to imagine how soft it'd be to ride on bus cushions made of warm, fluffy skunkfur? No, you cannot. And that is wonderful. :)

The idea for this one came pretty easy: I was watching a My Neighbor Totoro AMV and thought 'Fifi as Catbus!' This was feverishly drawn, and I added myself just waiting to board her. Oh, but the nekobus has li'l mouse headlights. Who could I cast for those? But of course! Tiny Toons has a rat duo all ready: Roderick and Rhubella! But the pic wasn't really finished for me until I had the idea to draw myself in Satsuki's outfit from the film. I LOLed.

BTW, 'sukanku' is, so far as I can tell, the correct Japanese word for skunk. They just gotta add 'u's to everything, don't they?

Also, sweet Jesus, just imagine what it'd feel like to be gently 'run over' by her!! All those big, wide, soft skunk footpaws!!! <blows up in an explosion of jism>

>Alex! I didn't know you knew perfect Japanese! :O

I totally don't. I just used Babelfish.

However, I like 'Sukankubasu' better. It makes more sense to have the whole thing Japanified. I think I'll change it.

If this term wasn't copyrighted, I'd use it as the name of the spell Wendy uses to communicate with foreign people. As it is, I am familiar with it through HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE and Sonic acquired a similar ability in the TOSSED IN SPACE 4-parter in Sonic comics -before I quit reading the series and cancelled my sub.

Well, a shape-changing super-heroine * took this form to take her friends to the 10th Anniversary of the Founding of the Enchanted Forest. , even tho they could all have flown. Glamour was used to prevent people from getting scared at the sight of her.

* powers:" flight, invisibility, phasing through walls, shape-changing, mayhaps others too outre to give names to !

It's really just the english word Skunk but written with Kana. I don't think the Japanese have a native word for skunk. ^.^;;

It's like how shirt is Shiroto.

As for the why, each letter in Japanese is a syllable, which is different from english where we make syllables by joining several letters, like th and va and shi. They also lack certain sounds, and make up for it by doubling them up. They use the same character for L and R, and the same syllable too, which is why it sounds funny sometimes.

Anyways Su Ka N and Ku are all individual letters and individual syllables. As a remarkable coincidence the Japanese kana for N looks very similar to the english letter n.

One really cool advantage of that is that it makes text to speech really easy. Every character can always be pronounced the same, regardless of their positions. In the Japanese version of animal crossing, they used that to make the animals talk, while in english they just make gibberish sounds.

Thanks for the impromptu lesson! :)

>It's really just the english word Skunk but written with Kana. I don't think the Japanese have a native word for skunk. ^.^;;

That makes sense, since the only skunks in Japan are probably in zoos.

>As a remarkable coincidence the Japanese kana for N looks very similar to the english letter n.

That might be sheer law of probability, or maybe there's some innate human response to certain sounds. I've noticed that in most languages, the word for no starts with N and the word for mother or mama starts with M.

>One really cool advantage of that is that it makes text to speech really easy. Every character can always be pronounced the same, regardless of their positions.

Spanish is also very easy to pronounce. Each vowel makes just one sound. I've heard Chinese is a nightmare though. It's all about inflection, so four words can all share one spelling and be pronounced the same with the tiniest of different nuances.

The slightest mispronounciation MAY turn "sweetheart" into "garbage pit" , so only a pro should use the language.

It's not complete gibberish--they're actually using a single sound associated with each letter, sped up so it's a) comparable to casual talking speed, and b) utterly incomprehensible. Probably they used the exact same code they had for kana, and just recorded sounds for each alphabet letter..

Heh heh. I've seen darn near all of them. Totoro and Howl are probably my favorites (plus the manga of Nausicaä!) Still need to see Ponyo though.

I've seen most of them. Ponyo is cute, basically Ghibli's/Japan's take on The Little Mermaid.

Also seeing Toy Story 3 recently, I was kinda surprised that the girl has a Totoro doll in her room, you only see him for a few quick scenes.

Saw this -and a lot that was REALLY grotesquo- in FurAffinity. It was the inspiration for a story "There's no time like the present" but it needs further work, as terminal burn-out was setting in. Yes, it was the LAST of my writing ! No explanation for Poil turning into a bus , tho !  And the Glamour spell had to be cast to prevent car crashes and freak-outs on seeing that bus-creature ! Make her look like a real bus !

There is a mechano-fetish,tho. Babs changing into a truck ! I can't find it now.

I would definitely like to see Babs turning into a truck.

There's this also.
