You did a really good job on this. I have a Nerf Strongarm myself but i have no idea where to start in modifying it to something more fitting for my sona, as it seems a rather daunting project.

Thank you, what sort of style are you looking to do with your Strongarm?

I was thinking of doing it in either a steampunk or futuristic theme. But i really don't know where to start as i've never modded a nerf gun before.

the best place to start is deciding what style you want to go with, then figuring out color. with steampunk, you want to stay closer to turn-of-the-century metal colors, and woodgrain patterns. with Sci-fi mods, the sky is the limit on colors. if you want to do just a cool paint mod, there are several dipping methods you can easily find on youtube. most work pretthy good and you can get some really neat swirling effects.

What kind of paint would you advise using? As even after painting it, i'd like to be able to use it without damaging the paint job.

i use Krylon, or Ace hardware paint. the ace paint is good for base coating, krylon for everything else. When i am doing multiple colors, i generally take apart what im painting to get cleaner lines, if your not good at taking things apart, you can always take pictures of what your working on to get it back together. then its just a matter of finding the accents you want to add. For the accents, i use E-6000. comes in clear, white, and black. when melding together two loose pieces, I ues LocTite 2part puddy or JB weld. both work well. everything else i just use various screws. if you want to keep an older style look, there are standard screw head pins you can find in the scrapbooking section of hobby lobby. Look in the Tim Holtz or Spare Parts sections at your local hobby store or a hobby lobby to find them and other really cool stuff.

if your thinking of doing the Sledgefire, i recomend not taking it apart, it has a unique pump system and was dificult, even for me.
