Also..I just assume Sonic is immortal and doesn't age. Because he has been 18, stayed there for 6 years, then turned 16, stayed there for about 5, then turned 15, and stayed 15 for over 13 years up until present. He's pretty much an ageless being of true fast and coolness. (Or, what coolness was in the 90s, and what cheesiness is now, but, cheesiness works for Sonic, so I won't question it.)

I think it's nice to see Sonic and Shadow growing old tighter ! It's not everyday you see couples staying together as life partners. Or what I mean to say is there are more people either getting a deforce for a lot of different reasons , but how often you come across a couple that weathered any hard ships and still stayed together just because they love each other that much ! It reminds me the way how my dad wanted to be with my mother like this , but she passed away do to a blood clot in her lungs . My dad is still misses her and refuses to get remarried because he said it would be betraying her . So nice work !

Unfortunately I don't ^^; I don't even remember the author's name... it MIGHT have been on Sonadow.com's fanfiction section, because I don't believe it was on Fanfiction.net. Basically, it was Sonic is an elderly hedgehog now, and he's dying, and Shadow is holding him in his last moments because they've been together so long.

You did a fantastic job drawing an aged Sonic! He has laugh lines and everything! Honestly I really love this- I've seen other pictures with Sonic aged (aged as in slightly ruffled and dulled quills) next to Shadow, but Sonic is sullen or has a soft sad smile. Here, you captured Sonic perfectly and the look of aging perfectly.

This is one of the subjects I've always held to heart when it comes to Shadow, and the one thing that still boggles my mind every time someone mentions how great it would be to be immortal.
The gift Gerald gave Shadow was, most definitely, one of the worst double edged blades that could be given. If he's as close to biological perfection as we believe him to be, then there will be a time where he will have to start saying goodbye to those he loves, cares for, or even just says hi to on the streets. He becomes a constant in an ever changing world and no living being could ever stand that pressure. And that's how the gift of survival no matter what becomes a curse.
I'm glad someone finally dared to draw this. I'm glad someone acknowledges the future that will be ahead for Shadow, no matter if Sonic is his lover or his friend. It's a beautiful, heartbreaking piece that cements the truth so many would rather avoid.
