The tribes of the great Southern deserts are raiders. By necessity. Ahlat, the Southern god of war, demands sacrifices of cattle stolen from rivals to earn his favor. And without Ahlat’s favor, you have no chance of defending yourselves against rival tribes trying to steal your cattle. It’s a vicious circle, and one that feeds Ahlat well.
But further east and south than Ahlat’s stronghold of Harborhead, it’s not always that way. The Wild Raider’s people didn’t slaughter defenders and steal cattle. People were too few, food to scarce and valuable. Least they wipe themselves out, the tribes that rode through the great savannas had developed rituals of counting coup and marking your superiority over rivals and ownership of their herds through non-violent means.
The Wild Raider was among the best. Unpredictable, creative, driven. Lightning fast raids that left cattle painted with his tribe’s symbol and the herds’ watchers sore and battered. Drugged oasis, feints and distractions. Earning the favor and gifts of The Unconquered Sun seemed almost inevitable in the end.
Now, his perspective shifts, as it does for all Exalted. All the tribes of the great savannas are as one compared to the forces arrayed against them in the world beyond. He shall count his coup and claim it all in their name. Creation has no idea what insane chaos is about to strike.

Along the Inner Sea sits a thousand kingdoms and countries, ruled by the benevolent fist of The Scarlet Empire. Some are rebelious, troublesome, and requiring constant attention, shows of force, and active warfare to keep in line. Then there’s places like An-Teng.
Civilized An-Teng. Obedient An-Teng. Sedate. Pacified. Loyal. Subservient.
An-Teng is where the loyal soldiers and nobility of the Realm go to relax and vacation, surrounded by the peaceful and obedient natives.
The people of An-Teng would never think of resisting the benevolent rule of The Scarlet Empire. They would never try to keep the old ways alive in secret, in the deep bamboo jungles of the Emerald Mountains. They would never nurture a secret assassins cult dedicated to removing those Realm officers who abused the hospitality of gentle sedate An-Teng.
And if any of their number were to somehow exalted as an anathema Solar, they would never go against the wishes of The Realm and keep him hidden, as the ultimate assassin, protecting An-Teng from the growing troubles of the world one perfectly innocent death at a time.

Where the far slopes of the Emerald Mountains meet the gem-strewn sands of the great southern deserts, a loose confederation of Godbloods, Terresterial Exalts, and enlightened martial artists fill in for the lack of Immaculate Brotherhood and keep the local gods and spirits in-line and performing their heavenly duties in a language they can’t help but understand. They have an official name, long and flowery, but to most people they are known simply as the God Kickers.
Boisterous, cocky and proud even before he was chosen by the Unconquered Sun, this God Kicker’s realizing that there’s a whole Celestial Bureaucracy that needs to be stirred from it’s shiftless corruption the best way he knows how. The gates of heaven will be stormed, and boots planted firmly up the backside of every Celestial deity before this run is through.
