Something I did in the early 2000s. Casey, Fletch and Mykl. I used an actual pic I cut out of the paper as a ref bc I liked the perspective,
Took two tries before I got the chesspieces the way I wanted them to be, though.
And I think I coulda done it a whole lot differently now. :P

Even computers have a time with chess. Programs written by chess experts tend to have their creators' strategies and weaknesses.

The bishop was not one of the original pieces. Strange pieces that never caught on include: the Atom Bomb, the Balloon, the Giraffe, the SuperQueen .... I have a book of these mutant pieces that never made it to the orthodox game.
