Character info and backstory

Gamli is the team’s “Quartermaster.” He handles most of the equipment the team uses for weapons and armor. He is a skilled smith with ties to many a mining guild back home. He is often soft spoken within the group, simply taking to his forge during his spare time, but won’t turn down a chance to relax with everypony else and will even sing with them from time to time. He is considered the “tank” of the group given his size and well made heavy armor. He is a natural defender and heart, taking the brunt of punishment to keep others safe. While his name suggests different, his weapon of choice is a broadsword and large shield. The hammer of both his cutie mark and name represents his love for blacksmithing and carpentry.

Gamli was born in Paladia but moved beyond it’s borders at a young age with his uncle. He’s always had a passion for building things and working metal, but it wasn’t until he met the love of his life, Sunflower, and defended her against a goblin bandit attack that he earned his cutie mark. Together he and Sunflower built a home on the outskirts of the Southern wilds near the town of Nihnm. It wasn’t long however till war came to the Southern Wilds. At first Gamli was reluctant to fight, turning away recruiters as he wanted to stay with Sunflower. But after she convinced him he would be needed, he joined the fight. After two years of battle and gaining recognition for his ferocity in battle, he returned home only to find Sunflower had been killed when the town had been raided by enemy soldiers. Devastated, Gamli returned to Paladia as a wanderer, fixing things from town to town till he was approached by Gustave Emberhoof. Gustave had heard of the Gamli’s deeds during the Claw war. It took several tries, but eventually Gustave managed to convince Gamli to join his group of Paladian Knights.
