Emily in SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
Emily's Challenge
Alright, sorry for the lack of updates but the summer has finally kicked in here in Sweden and doesn't rain or get cold so often and since its August you have to get the sun as much as possible, otherwise winter will come and gloomy times for y'all and trust me, you WILL notice the difference the mood in Sweden in summer and winter. So I have been enjoying sun, riding the bike for miles, sunbathing and later on I will bathe in the ocean for the first time this year and such so yeah, summer time here in Sweden has been simply abysmal this year.

Anyway, a character design test for Emily as Deborah or Debbie in the upcoming comic "Gasoline Run" or "Emily's Valentine Run" as it was previously known as in the fake DVD cover I did about six months ago. With help from  BEASTofTURIN) who came up with awesome designs with vehicles, I have been working with designing a 1950s post apocalyptic scenario and I hope that this does feel like a typical 1950s for you because it is HARD to find good references.

Very cool! I'm loving the concept idea so far... ;)
Have you considered skimming through an Encyclopedia Britannia for '50s attire references? Maybe even some old magazines or photos. :3

I don't have any Encyclopedia Britannia, and what I meant by hard is that to maintain the feel of 1950s with its looks and not just a low budget quality over it, if you know what I mean ^^

Aaah, yes... I do believe I understand where you're getting at.

What kind of 1950's are you hoping to reference?
TheViktor

you know, like asides from clothes, buildings, the commercial posters, stuff like that

Looks good, but it feels impractical.

Corny as the suggestion may be, a good 1950's post apocalypse standard would be the basis of the Fallout world, without all the high tech gimmicks.

So is it 1940's into the 50's style, or 1950's before the 60's? Because style and attitude can change rather fast depending on factors.

Sorry, but I just got up. What do you mean by all that, impractical, and I was just going for all the 1950s designs and photos I found online

was trying to figure out the vibe you wanted in design.

Was falling asleep as soon as I saw your reply.

basically I was looking at rockabillies and how some female girls wore at the 1950s, especially teenagers. While Emily is about 11 years old in this story, I figured that  this was something she would wear as a rebel.

alright. what was getting me was the shoes and the missing pants leg.
The most common shoe styles for teenagers at the time was Saddle Shoes or Oxfords, although more "rough cut" teenage girls would wear cowboy boots, which was not uncommon for tomboys at the time.

The pants you're trying to emulate for the time would also be maybe an inch or so higher.

Still working on a thing for the missing pants leg. Since most girls knew how to sew at the time (And I'm sure such a skill is helpful at the endtimes) I was thinking either a piece of a dress modified into a halfway down skirt to at least protect from stuff such as brambles... the fabric would be rather dull, and constantly torn and resown.

Hope this helps a little bit. Will try to find more 1950's clothing...

Ah right, I have no real excuse for those. I lost concentration during the foot era and doodled something down right even though I was aware for the shoes they used except the names for them, and for the legless pant part, well it was kinda like this pic https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=784115 and I just figured that it would give her some sexy appeal but maybe I just ended butchered it ^^

But yeah, thanks for the effort to point it out ^^

You might be able to do something with the legless pant part. If you don't mind me suggesting an idea for it.

But all in all, that other picture is absolutely perfect in clothing design.

Sure, hit me with your idea. =)

Could have it cut off for a specific reason, and have a sort of not-too thin undergarment.
Like this: http://www.zappos.com/lysse-tight-ankle-legging-1219-w...

If needed. it could also have Belted straps holding specific tools on it, such as a knife, compass, small survivalist stuff.
also, kinda like this but more centered on holding onto the leg: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/09/9e/a8/099e...

Like I said, finding perfectly good attire for references is pretty hard. ^^;
AlexanderValentine

Yeah, that's why most people kinda did the 1980's post apocalyptic idea. was easier to emulate.
