Chapter 64 - Rehabilitation Of The Body And Soul

After several hours had passed, the scientists themselves eventually stopped Chris from exercising any further as he began fumbling over himself repeatedly, flushed and covered in sweat from overexerting himself nearly nonstop since entering the lab. Once they got him back in his chair and wheeled him out of the gym and up to the others, Professor Rose cleared her throat, causing the group to shoot up and snort having been woken from their slumber. "I hope all of you enjoyed your nap..." she said with a giggle, the group rubbing their heads with embarrassed looks. "My word boy... What did you do to yourself in there...?" Gerald asked, blinking at Chris in surprise as he laughed nervously and waved his hand, groaning from exhaustion. "Well... Hours on end of exercising really... We've had plenty of people come here seeking to recover from endless types of injuries and conditions, but it's hard to tell whether or not I've ever seen someone push themselves so strenuously and continuously as this young man..." Rose told them while handing Chris a napkin to wipe his face off with. "Wh... What can I say? I've got the heart of a Pyroar..." he replied, looking at the group and giving a thumbs up. "Thanks for the encouragement by the way... That really was sweet of you girls..." he said, the group of Pokemon blushing and scratching their cheeks in response, glancing away shyly. "If I may Master Chris... That young N fellow that was here had a message for you..." Gerald told him, walking up and handing Chris a slip of paper. "Yeah... I saw him with the rest of you... He's a pretty good guy but sure has an odd way of popping up... Kinda cool I guess the way he has that mystique about him..." Chris replied in a quiet tone, half concentrated on reading the note. "Mystique...? You have an odd name for odd people... I certainly wouldn't call it mystique..." Servine said, scowling as he waved his hand. "Hey hey... Be nice. It's not right to judge people, even if they are a little... Different than others... Everybody has a reason for their quirks." Chris told her, raising an eyebrow while looking over the note.

"What is it Master Chris?" Gerald asked, noticing his expression while looking over the paper. "Apparently N says if we're a family, I shouldn't call the girls what the world calls them... He wants me to give them their own names... Something unique to show how I care about them... What I think about them and all... Something that best reflects who they are inside and gives them... A special identity... Basically..." he muttered, the Pokemon looking at one another as Gardevoir tilt her head, intrigued by the suggestion. "Huh... Give the girls their own names..." he repeat in a quiet tone, leaning back in his chair before raising an eyebrow and rubbing his chin. "That's a tricky one... I wouldn't want to give them something plain... But nothing too... Out there either... What do you girls think? You want a new name?" he asked, looking at them as they jolt and fidget shyly. "Would... Like to have name... Any name you give..." Gardevoir answered. "I... Suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea... So long as it's befitting..." Servine added. "Well... You're pretty SERperior to me already... So why not call you SUperior...?" he suggested, suddenly snickering only for Gerald himself to smack Chris on the back of the head. "OW!! Hey, joke!! A joke!!" he shout as Gerald shook his head, rubbing a temple while Servine nodded. "THANK YOU Gerald..." she said with a smirk, nodding in approval. "That... Really lame..." Gardevoir added, slumping and showing a "seriously...?" expression as Buneary held her nose, giving a silent "p-u" type of response. "I'm terribly sorry sir... But that truly was terrible, and poor timing combined..." he added, Professor Rose laughing nervously. "Well excuse me!! Geez... Tough crowd..." he grumbled, rubbing his head before crossing his arms with a scowl as one of the staff brought him a bottle of water. "Ah! Thanks... Did I even drink anything while I was in there?" he asked, looking at Rose as the group blinked at him in surprise. "My... You truly were caught up in your workout... No you didn't actually..." she replied, Gerald rubbing his face with a groan. "Master Chris... The enthusiasm is great but you've got to take care of yourself when doing such a strenuous regimen at the same time..." he reminded him. "Ah... Ha ha... I'm sorry...?" he laughed with an embarrassed smile.

"Well... It's just about time to get the lab prepped for closing... We'll see you lot again tomorrow, alright?" Rose said with a smile, giving the group a wave before walking back into the gym and going over the various reports they had collected throughout the day from Chris and others. "Guess we'll be on our way then... We've still got a stop to make before heading home anyways." Chris nodded as Gerald brought Gardevoir up behind his chair. "Oh yeah... You know, you do really well pushing me along without your sight... I'm really proud of the way you can follow your senses and directions so well nowadays!" he grinned, holding her hand and pressing a thumbs up against it causing the Pokemon to jolt and blush with a smile. "No need to praise... Something so simple..." she replied as Buneary limped her way up to Chris. "Oh...? Looks like I'm not the only one putting their best foot forward!" he smiled, gently picking her up. "I'm proud of you too... Still in your cast yet standing and walking about. You're one tough girl! Try not to put me to shame too much though." he chuckled, rubbing Buneary on the head as she flushed with a smile and pulled her ear down shyly. Making their way to the exit, he motioned for Servine to come to him as she rode on Geralds shoulder, blinking at him confused before hopping onto the arm of his chair and slithering her way atop his shoulders instead. "I'm proud of you too... Thanks for what you did at the window with the others... Using your vines like that just for me was really something." he told her, the snake jolting and glancing away embarrassed. "Don't... Mention it..." she muttered, laying her head down on his shoulder only for Chris to reach up and pull her face towards his, giving her a nuzzle on the nose with his own causing the snakes tail to shoot up with a glow on her face before she quickly pulled her face away, stuttering with a flustered look. "Heh... You're all the best... And an awesome family is even more awesome now that we have another addition!" he grinned, giving Buneary a thumbs up as she nodded quietly and faced down with an even wider smile. "Careful now Master Chris... You're pouring it on a tad heavily again." Gerald chuckled, causing him to let out an "urk!" and glance away embarrassed. "H... Hey... Just being honest again... Let a guy enjoy his good mood..." he grumbled as Gardevoir suddenly gave him a hug from behind, Servine wrapping her tail around his neck with a smirk as Buneary leaned against his torso. "Ah... Ha ha... What a bunch..." he chuckled.

Returning to the limo, the group set off into the city as the sun set once again, Chris stretching and letting out a sigh as he let himself relax. "So... Where is it you wanted to go?" Gerald asked, raising an eyebrow as the Pokemon perked up, facing him with curious looks as well. "Ah... Right..." he said with a pause, looking down at Buneary as she rest her back against him, looking up at him in response. "Well... These girls all have a necklace and chip of their own... So I thought we'd go out and get one for Buneary too..." he replied as she looked at the others, taking notice of their necklaces and tilting her head. "...Chip?" she asked. "Ah!! That's right... See, remember when I told you I don't like Pokeballs? Well... These girls have a special chip on their badges that make it so Pokeballs have no affect on them. That way they can travel freely by my side at all times and we never have to worry about someone else capturing them!" he smiled. "You know Master Chris... Technically you COULD just capture them then release them permanently... Once they are tied to a Pokeball it doesn't matter how long they are detached from it, another still cannot capture them." Gerald reminded. "Well... Yeah... I guess so... But doing that still marks them as my captured property basically... It just turns me off too much... Just throwing something at Pokemon and the whole "GOTCHA!!" thing everyone does... I can't do it... Seeing them sucked into a Pokeball is just too unsettling. Even if I'm the one who does it... I think of it as doing that to another human being... Its just too... Weird for me... This way they get the benefit of a Pokeball without the awkwardness..." he replied, an uncomfortable look on his face as the Pokemon faced down silently, Gerald nodding in response. "I understand sir. Do forgive me for pressing the matter..." he apologized while driving along.

"...Really nice..." Buneary said, smiling with a touched look on her face. "Huh...? What now?" Chris asked, blinking confused as the rabbit looked up at him. "Really nice... Never heard a human talk like that about our kind... You're not like... Him at all..." she said with a pause, looking down sadly as Chris jolt and waved his hands. "Th... Thanks for the compliment but! But... Please don't say something that makes you think of anything bad..." he told her, rubbing the rabbit on the head. "No... It's alright... It makes me like you all the more... You really treat our kind like one of your own..." she told him, looking back up with a smile. "W... Well yeah... We're all the same really... We've all got a heart... A mind and personality... Soul and stuff..." he told her with an embarrassed blush, glancing away shyly as Buneary gave him a warm smile. "I... Do wonder about something..." she said, pausing while looking down nervously. "...Fighting..." she added, rubbing the cast on her arm as Chris looked at her silently for a moment before smiling. "Eh...? Didn't I tell you already? Could of sworn I did..." he replied, rubbing the back of his head and shrugging. "You won't have to do any of that with us... I promise." he replied, the small rabbit jolting and looking up in surprise. "Wh... What...?" she asked, going wide eyed as he laughed. "Is it that shocking? Seriously, don't worry about it... As long as you're with us you'll never have to be afraid about doing anything you don't wanna do... I already know how much you don't like fighting and stuff... I want you to stick with us because I care and... Well... I wanna keep you away from a life you can't enjoy, not because I expect you to do anything on my account... I want you to be my friend, to live the kind of life you deserve... Something any living being deserves really..." he told her with a thumbs up, causing Buneary to flush brightly with a silent gaze fixated on him, Gardevoir clutching her chest while she and Servine faced him wide eyed as well while Gerald chuckled and nodded in the drivers seat. "Ahhh... Now THAT truly is a speech... Sometimes you aren't so bad at relaying your thoughts and feelings... You're improving." Gerald told him with a smirk and a thumbs up. "Ahh... Ha ha... Thanks, I guess." Chris replied with a grin.

Once the group arrived at a local jewelry store Gerald picked out, they went in together to try finding a necklace that suit Buneary. Unfortunately... Everything they tried to point out didn't appeal to her very much... For some time they went through case after case, even going through the effort of trying an extra store or two, only for Buneary to repeatedly turn down choice after choice no matter where they went or what was picked. "Man... Are you just not the jewelry type...? I thought this was something all girls liked..." Chris said as they walked around the last location they planned to try for the night. "If she won't take anything, I'll certainly vouch to take her place!" Servine said, raising her hand with a grin as Gardevoir scowled. "Greedy snake..." she muttered, causing Servine to grumble and cross her arms while riding atop Chris's shoulders. "I must admit... This hasn't been easy at all..." Gerald added, continuing to look throughout various cases. "Well... I do like this stuff but..." Buneary paused, looking down with guilt on her face. "O... Oy oy, don't worry about it! If we can't find something you like tonight, we'll try again tomorrow!" Chris assured her. Continuing to take their time, it was to no avail in the end as the shop prepared to close for the night, letting customers know it was time to leave as staff began putting jewelry in the shops safe. "Oh heavens... I suppose that's that..." Gerald sighed, the rest nodding as they left and made their way down the sidewalk. "Man... Several shops and not one thing worked out..." Chris sighed, resting his cheek on his hand as Buneary rubbed the cast on her arm. "I'm sorry... That kind of stuff to wear just isn't what I really..." she said with a pause, looking in a shop window as they strolled by. "W... Want!! That's what I want!!" she shout, shooting up on Chris's lap and trying to hop excitedly. "E... Eh...? What's what now...?" Chris asked as they backed up. Looking in the window, there was a small choker on display, causing Chris and Gerald both to go wide eyed and turn pale. "Th... THAT'S the kind of thing... You're into...?" he asked nervously, the rabbit nodding rapidly with an excited look on her face. "...What kind of Pokemon are you...?" Servine asked, raising an eyebrow before looking it over herself. "To each her own I suppose..." she muttered, noticing a leash latched onto a ring dangling from the front of the collar. "Why on Earth would you want something so... What's the word...?" she paused, thinking it over as Chris and Gerald took notice of the leash as well. "Dear boy... I really don't recommend..." he muttered in Chris's ear. "W... Well what else am I supposed to do...? I just said I wanted to make her happy..." he muttered back as Buneary pressed her face against the glass with sparkling eyes and a slight blush on her face. "SLEAZY!! THAT'S the word!!" Servine shout, snapping her fingers causing Chris and Gerald to shoot up and wave their hands. "M... Madam please!!" the old butler replied, putting his finger over his mouth as Chris rubbed his face with a groan as Buneary looked up at the group, Gardevoir facing different directions and shrugging. "No idea... What going on... Probably not want to know..." she muttered with a sigh.

"W... Well... You're... SURE that's what you... REALLY want...?" he asked, rubbing the back of his head nervously as Buneary gave him a confused look. "Is it... Wrong...? I didn't mean to pick something bad..." she replied, looking at the choker again before sitting with a plop on his lap once more. "O... Oy... Ah... Al... Alright... It's fine..." he told her, pulling on his shirt collar with a gulp. "Oh my... I had no idea the little madam had such... Bold taste..." Gerald said, clearing his throat. "B... Best to be adventurous than dull I suppose!" he laughed nervously as Servine sighed and shook her head. "I do remember seeing something about this sort of thing on television... To think we have such a girl among us now..." she added, Chris lifting his shoulder to give her a nudge while giving her a quick grunt and stern look, causing the snake to roll her eyes and look away shaking her head. "I... I'm sorry..." Buneary told the group, her ears suddenly drooping causing Chris to let out an "urk!!" and quickly hand Servine to Gerald. "W... Wait here... I'm gonna let her try it on..." he told them before wheeling his way towards the door, looking up at the mixture of goth and Victorian design of the shop before him. "Ooohhh boy... Waaaay out of my element..." he muttered before looking back at the group with a wave and wheeling himself inside. "Well... He's a man of his word... One of his quality features, right?" Gerald laughed nervously as Servine shrugged. "I suppose, even if it puts him in a bad spot seemingly 24/7..." she replied, Gardevoir crossing her arms. "It good thing. Honest and stick to promise. All that matter." she said with a firm nod, Servine suddenly making kissy sounds. "Aren't we trying to be the favorite..." she replied with a chuckle, grinning smugly as Gardevoir puffed out her cheeks and tried to face away with her nose up, only to face Servines direction. "Wrong way darling..." she told Gardevoir, the blind Pokemon jolting and quickly turning a different direction causing Gerald to shake his head and slump with a sigh. "Do hurry Master Chris..." he muttered.

Inside the shop, the staff were getting ready to close up also only to pause when Chris rolled up, smiling and sweating nervously while pointing at the window. "Th... That please... For h... Her... Th... Thanks and please!! I... I mean please and thanks!!" he stuttered, the staff blinking at one another as Buneary tilt her head with an "are you alright...?" look on her face. "You don't seem like THAT kind of trainer..." one of the women told him as she walked past and worked the choker off the display, carrying it back and handing it to him before returning to the back of the counter. Groaning embarrassed, he held up the choker and looked at the leash dangling from it, flushing while taking it off and handing it towards the cashier. "Huh...? It's a combo... That goes with it so you can't just buy one without the other." she told him, causing Chris to laugh nervously. "Riiight... Of course it is..." he replied, trying to figure out the choker as the staff sighed and shook their heads. "He's gonna be here a bit... We're gonna finish up." the others told the cashier, getting a nod from her in response before leaving. Watching as Chris finally figured out how to get it open, the cashier groaned and shook her head. "I'll be back..." she told him before heading off to help the others close up shop, leaving him and Buneary alone. "O... Oy!! But... How do you..." he tried to ask, pausing and shaking his head as Buneary looked up at him as he looked over the choker once more and laughed nervously. "My word is my word..." he told her, taking a deep breath before trying to put it around her neck. "Alright... Around here... Then just through... And...!!" he said, pausing as he tried to secure it on her neck only to suddenly adjust it too tightly, the rabbit letting out a gasp of pain and clutching the choker as she wheezed. "S... Sorry!! Fixing now, fixing now!!" he panicked, quickly adjusting the choker as she started flushing and tearing up. Once it suddenly came undone, Buneary let out a shocking noise of arousal, facing up at Chris with a dazed look causing him to blush wide eyed in surprise. "Y... You... Alright...?" he asked as the rabbit coughed and cleared her throat, nodding in response before giving him an awkward smile. "O... Oy... I don't think that's the proper reaction to..." he paused, holding up the choker before sweating all the more. "Wait... A... Are you... A masochist...?!" he asked in shock as Buneary came out of her daze, rubbing her throat and tilting her head confused by the statement before letting out a raspy noise. "Oh yeah... Gardevoir isn't close enough... Uh... Oh geez..." he muttered as he tried working the choker on once again, causing the rabbit to jolt and shudder when he tightened it too much, then relaxing with a sigh once he finished getting it on properly.

"Alright... Uh... Looks good so..." he said, pausing as he turned towards the register and saw the woman standing with her hand out in his face, causing him to nearly fall back with a shout. "G... Geez!! Alright, alright..." he muttered, reaching in his pocket and taking out his card. "This place would freak out a Haunter..." he thought to himself as the cashier scanned and returned his card, along with the leash and receipt. "Have a good night..." the cashier told him, raising an eyebrow as she looked at Buneary wearing the choker. "I... It isn't what it looks like, seriously!! We were going by and she... Really wanted it..." he told the woman. "Hey, we've seen way worse people than you in here..." she told him, causing Chris to groan before wheeling himself towards the exit. Once he was outside, he kept his face down in humiliation while wheeling past the others. "Chris...? That Chris? It him?" Gardevoir asked, slightly panicking as she heard his wheels heading further and further away. "Ahh... Ha ha... indeed madam... I believe he's a tad embarrassed..." Gerald replied, guiding her along behind him as Servine raised an eyebrow. "Was it that bad in there...?" she asked as Chris sighed. "No... Just... Embarrassing..." he replied, slowing to a stop and scratching his cheek as Buneary felt the choker, looking up at him with guilt in her expression. "H... Hey now... Don't be that way! I uh... Liked doing that for you... Its what you wanted so... No worries... I'm just new to that kind of store is all. That kind of... Stuff in general really..." he laughed nervously, rubbing her on the head as she nodded silently with a slight blush. "A... Anyways... So it fits good? You really like it?" he asked as she nodded with a smile. "Good... Then that's all that matters. Don't you worry about me... At least you got me to experience something new!" he laughed, waving his hand as Gerald noticed the leash in his lap. "Master Chris... Was getting that as well necessary...?" he asked. "Ah... Ha ha... It was a... Bundle... I had to..." he replied, holding up the leash as Servine went wide eyed in surprise and Buneary glanced at the leash with a look of anticipation. "...Dog..." Servine said, shaking her head as Chris scowled and put it back in his lap. "Oh whatever... Stop being so judgmental. You know it bugs me..." he grumbled, the snake sticking out her tongue as Gardevoir stood bewildered. "What going on...?" she asked, only for Gerald to pat her hand. "Oh madam... It truly is best you don't know..." he replied.

Once the group reached the limo, they returned to the hotel at last, after which Gardevoir and Servine plopped on the bed with a simultaneous groan causing Chris to laugh. "Hey now! I'M the one who worked out all day! What's that about?" he asked while wheeling himself into the kitchen area, setting Buneary on the table and stretching his arms up as Gerald walked in as well. "Home and happy once more, eh Master Chris?" he chuckled, looking at the two on the bed as they raised a hand and waved in response, Buneary looking all around the room curiously. "This... Is your home...?" she asked, looking at Chris as he searched the fridge for drinks. "Well... Kind of... I don't have a home anymore really... It's a long story." he replied, taking out a pitcher of tea and setting it on the table before searching for glasses. "You're... Homeless...?" she asked. "Err... I'm not exactly homeless either... Umm..." he replied with a pause as he set out the glasses, putting a straw in two for Servine and Buneary before filling them and passing them out before joining Buneary and Gerald at the table. "You see... For a long time I lived with my grandfather..." he told her, reaching for his rucksack by the table leg and taking out the Pokeball, setting it in front of Buneary. "But he finally passed away not long ago... After that happened, his Alakazam cremated his body for me and sealed the ashes away inside that... The Pokeball his Alakazam kept hidden away in its mustache that used to belong to it... Then he and his other two Pokemon signed it for me, see?" he asked, pointing out the signatures as Buneary looked it over. "Never seen a Pokeball used... For that..." she replied, showing a sad look and patting the ball as Chris smiled. "Well... After that, all of the elders in the village I was in went to work helping me prepare for traveling... I took care of them all just as I did my grandfather for many years..." he said, taking a drink of his tea before looking through the fluid, holding it up to the light. "Cheers to the old man and all those folks..." he chuckled, shaking his head with a sigh. "Anyways... Once everything was ready for me to leave, I decided to give my grandfathers cabin to his Pokemon, giving them their own roof and all that... And the elders promised they'd be treated well and taken care of too... So in a way I have a home, and in a way I don't... I have a place I'll always be welcome, but I never intend to take that place back from his Pokemon either... They deserve it..." he finished, taking another drink before looking down with a smile. "You... Gave a house to Pokemon...?" Buneary asked with a touched look on her face. "Ah... Is that weird?" he asked with a nervous smile. "N... No!! It's... Amazing... Taking care of a village full of your people... Giving a human house to those who aren't even your kind... It's surprising..." she told him, looking at the Pokeball again. "Yeah... I just wanna do what I can to help people have a better life..." he replied, putting more tea in his glass as Gardevoir and Servine drank silently while listening, Gerald smirking and nodding.

"I was left with so much I don't even feel like I need... So instead of wasting it on myself, I put it to much better uses..." he told her, taking another sip as she rubbed her casts once again. "Really good person..." she told him as he put the glass down with a sigh. "Ahh that hits the spot... And er... Thanks but I really don't do anything for praise... I just do what feels right and that's enough to make me happy." he chuckled, rubbing her on the head before leaning back and relaxing. "Yep... I just do what feels right..." he repeated, closing his eyes with a yawn and relaxing as the others watched him silently. Once his own glass of tea was finished, Gerald stood and wheeled Chris to the bed, motioning for Servine to get Gardevoir to help him as he took off Chris's shoes, Buneary watching curiously as he and Gardevoir carefully lift him up and laid him on top of the bed. "The lad just conked out right there in his seat..." he chuckled as Gardevoir felt Chris's face over. "He really gave it his all today... And he'll keep giving it his all so long as he's got you girls I'd wager..." he said before heading back to the table and putting the remaining tea away and gathering the glasses in the sink. "And as long as there are those who need him of course... A fortune in his pocket, yet not a penny spent on himself... Admirable fellow..." he added as Gardevoir relaxed next to him, sitting with her back against the headboard while Servine curled up next to him and turned on the TV while relaxing. "Well then my dears... I'll be taking my leave for the night... Is there anything else you need of me beforehand?" he asked. "No... We're good... You go have good night." Gardevoir replied, waving a hand as Servine nodded. "Yeah... Nothing I can think of... Do take care." Servine added, waving herself while keeping her eyes glued to the TV as Buneary sat quietly on the table, looking around nervously.

"The pictures not perfect yet..." he said, walking up to Buneary causing her to jump nervously before he lift her in his arm and carried her up to the bed. "Alright ladies... You treat each other kindly now..." he told them as he sat Buneary down next to Chris as well, causing the rabbit to blush as she looked at his sleeping face before facing away shyly and feeling the choker on her neck once again. "Until tomorrow... Take care." he smiled, the group nodding and waving as he left the room with a bow. For some time, the three enjoyed watching, and in Gardevoirs case, listening to the television as Chris soundly slept between them, Gardevoir making herself comfortable by laying next to him with a leg over his, rubbing his head gently while Servine laid next to him snickering at the broadcast, muttering something about "loving this show" as Buneary looked at the group, fidgeting her ear nervously. "U... Um... Is it okay if... We talk...?" she asked, Gardevoir shrugging in response. "Long as not wake him up... What about?" she asked as Servine scowled. "So long as it isn't too distracting..." she added before suddenly jumping off the bed and making her way into the kitchen area, digging for crackers before returning and munching on them while enjoying her show, Gardevoir scowling and letting out an irritated grunt from the noise coming from her munching. "W... Well... I know it's wrong not to believe people but... Is he really that way? I mean... All that stuff... Did he really do it...? How did you two meet him...?" she asked, the two Pokemon remaining silent for a moment. "You mean is he really an idiot...? Yeah... Wears his heart on his sleeve 24/7... Always getting himself..." she paused. "and US..." she added in an irritated tone "Involved in everyone's problems..." she told Buneary, shaking her head as Gardevoir sat up and suddenly gave Servine a kick in the back, causing the snake to gag on the crackers in her throat before growling with a hiss. "When she talk, have to read between lines..." Gardevoir said as she rest against the headboard. "Where start... I met just after birth... Other human catch me, but not want me because blind..." she said, covering one of her eyes with her hand. "Other human beat me, use his Pokemon to try kill me, threw me off cliff..." she added, Buneary looking at her wide eyed while turning and sitting to face her better. "Other human leave me for dead... Not long after, late at night, Chris come. Climb down cliff, then climb back up... Only one arm because holding me." she said, making climbing motions with her arms. "I attack him at first... Mistake for threat... Then he help make me healthy again. Take good care of me..." she added. suddenly blushing slightly as she felt for his face and rubbed his cheek. "He help me see worth in myself... Give reason to live when world was nothing but dark... World still dark to me, but feel like see light when with him, even though can't see... He bright light in darkness... He warmth when feel cold..." she giggled quietly, Buneary showing a smile of her own.

"Yeah well... Same thing with me in a way..." Servine admitted, looking down at the cracker in her hand. "...I was caught by another, the same as her... It was rather nice at first, until there was a... Battle..." she said with a pause, a somber look on her face. "When the two of you evolve, you're just filled with beauty. Just SO cute and all... But me... Proud of my species as I may be... I could evolve into a possible monster..." she added, gritting her teeth before quickly shaking her head and stuffing the cracker in her mouth. "...Haaah. The battle... It was between myself and my final form, a Serperior... Our species carry an unfathomable pride within us... And the moment that Serperior saw me, it saw a weaker version of itself... To face a pre-evolution of our kind in battle... No greater insult can be felt for many of us who strive to advance ourselves... To grow... It went insane and it quickly escalated from a battle to a lust for blood... It attacked its own human in a blind rage... I'll never forget the look my own kind can have in our eyes when enraged... It was as though it wasn't even one of our kind anymore... Just a pure demon..." she said, shivering slightly before quickly shaking her head and stuffing her face once more. "Oh that's good... Food sooth's to be sure..." she said with a sigh. "Ahem... After that, I became terrified of evolving... I didn't want to risk turning into something so... Vile... And as a result, the one I was with began ignoring me... Neglecting me... He would feast with the other Pokemon and force me to stay back and watch... I slowly dwindled away to nearly nothing, to the point I was... Groveling for attention... For nourishment..." she said, looking down with her teeth grit. "Even for something as useless... As love..." she admitted, Gardevoir slowly shaking her head as Buneary looked down sadly. "That human... I was reduced to crawling on my hands and legs up until the last moment I saw him... When I couldn't keep up anymore, he merely looked back, gave me a demoralizing speech and left..." she finished, reaching in the bag to stuff another cracker in her mouth, only to pause just before it touched her lips and slowly lower it down. "...Then this fool came..." she continued, glancing towards Chris. "...I was going to merely, ahh..." she said, glancing away with a scowl. "Borrow some food... Next thing I knew he managed to sneak up on me and catch me off guard... I ran off with that Pokeball of his for whatever stupid reason and he tracked me down pretty easily since I was so weak... I don't know why, but I tried capturing myself in it... Only to find out the thing was sealed shut because it had a dead human inside..." she said, shuddering before shaking her head and letting out a sigh. "How humiliating... Anyways... Even in my horrendous condition, he took me in and helped me recover..." she added, suddenly blushing as she glanced at him once more. "...He would blend food for me, grind it up and all... Every meal he'd carefully pick out and make sure I could eat it... I could barely swallow I was so weak but he... Admittedly... Did go above and beyond for me... Holding me and taking such care when helping me eat..." she told the curious rabbit as Gardevoir smiled with a nod. "...I was in the same shape he's in now, in a way... But he got me back up on my feet. Helped me regain my former self... Next thing I knew my body was better than ever, and I managed to win a fight against a champion human by his side... I admit he helped me out of quite a rut..." she said, scratching her cheek with a scowl. "So... That's why I'm here with him now... I just owe him is all..." she finished as Gardevoir crossed her arms with a scowl. "Lying again... That actually mean she madly in love with him too..." Gardevoir said, the rabbit going wide eyed as Servine flushed brightly. "Sh... SHUT U...!!" she shout with a pause, quickly covering her mouth as Chris groaned, the three freezing up as Servine bit her lip and faced away in humiliation, her tail thrashing out of frustration as Buneary looked at the two.

"W... Wow..." she replied quietly, looking at Chris once again. "So... Both of you... Love him...?" she asked, Gardevoir fidgeting shyly with a silent nod as Servine let out a "tch..." in response. "Whatever... At least he isn't the worst choice one could make..." she replied, Gardevoir facing up with a smirk. "Told you..." she said smugly, the snake throwing a cracker at her face as Gardevoir snickered and put it in her mouth. "I see... Thanks for answering... Even if it made you uncomfortable..." she told the two, facing down with a smile as they both went silent for a moment before shrugging. "The past is the past. I have someone to worship ME now. I'm satisfied with that." Servine smirked, putting her nose up proudly as Gardevoir sighed and shook her head. "Not uncomfortable... He give us new life. Great life. Only thing that make us uncomfortable is..." she said with a pause, facing down with a sudden somber look. "...Not being able to repay. Only... Causing him trouble..." she admitted, Servine pausing as she munched on another cracker before grumbling and facing the television once again, Buneary tilting her head before smiling. "He... Loves you too you know... That being the case... I don't think he wants you to pay him back... Just to be..." she paused, feeling her choker once more. "...Happy..." she said, blushing slightly causing Servine to raise an eyebrow while Gardevoir smiled with a nod. "So... You never have to do anything you don't want to?" she asked, both Pokemon thinking for a moment before shrugging and shaking their heads. "We do tend to enjoy ourselves I suppose, asides whenever the two of us have our little... Moments..." Servine scowled while glancing at Gardevoir, the blind Pokemon seemingly picking up on her look and sticking her tongue out in response. "But that aside... He means it when he tells you he cares... He'll go out of his way to make your life bearable at the very least... No matter how dreadful it was before." she added, scowling again before turning away to watch TV. "I'm through praising the fool... Now leave me be." she grumbled, the conversation causing Chris to groan again and roll over, winding up on Gardevoirs lap causing the Pokemon to freeze up and flush, stuttering nervously as he yawned and cuddled her torso sending a shudder up her spine before she nervously felt his head and rubbed the top of it. "That our... Chris..." she said, slowly relaxing herself while clutching her chest with her free hand. "You... Have wounds too... He find way to heal them... Like he did ours... He find way just for you... To make forget past and be happy you live now..." she told Buneary before carefully working the blankets out from under them and tucking herself in them with Chris, holding him in her arms with his forehead touching her horn, causing Gardevoir to blush once more with a peaceful smile on her face as she closed her eyes with a sigh.

"Yeah..." Buneary replied, losing herself in thought as she continued feeling her choker. "The way you love him... Is it just a normal kind of love...? Or... What about the way he loves you... Exactly...?" she asked, Gardevoir smiling while continuing to rub his head as Servine faced away, hiding a slight blush while nibbling on a cracker. "We love him... Very much... But... Not normal kind... Very close kind..." she answered, giving him a hug causing Buneary to look at her in surprise. "You mean he... Doesn't mind being with a Pokemon in... Other ways...?" she asked, causing Gardevoir to blush and giggle. "...Yes..." she answered, slowly putting one of her legs around him under the blankets while stroking the back of his neck, causing Chris to let out a relaxed yawn in response, Servine scratching her cheek and grumbling out of embarrassment. "What kind of filthy things are you two discussing exactly...? Stop talking about matters you shouldn't..." she told the two. "...He's formed that kind of thing... With both of you...?" she asked, Gardevoir brushing his bangs from his face with a silent nod. "Just wish... Could see male I love..." she admitted, feeling his cheek with a slightly sad smile. "W... Wow... He doesn't mind... Being with a Pokemon..." Buneary muttered while looking at Chris, suddenly blushing before quickly backing away and shaking her head with a nervous giggle. "I'm sorry... I'll stop asking stuff... Thanks again for answering though... I'm glad we could talk some... You two aren't as scary as you seem..." she told the two, Servine crossing her arms with a "well then..." and facing the television once more, Gardevoir letting out a nervous laugh. "We not bad... Just not get along well... Not hate each other either... Just very different..." she told the rabbit before scooting herself under the sheets with Chris further until only their shoulders up could be seen as she closed her eyes and rest her forehead against his. "We not bad... We family... Bad times... Good times... Family..." she said with a yawn, repeating what Chris had said while letting herself slowly drift off as well. "...We truly aren't bad people... And he'll treat you well, have no fear..." Servine said as the light from the TV glowed around her. "He accepts people and Pokemon, no matter how others feel about them..." she added, facing down with a slight blush. "No matter how you may treat him... How you speak to him... He'll let you be yourself... And if there's something you don't want to do, like fight..." she said, pausing while slowly holding her tail. "Or... Evolve... He won't care... He'll think of you as if you were the best person or Pokemon in the world no matter your faults..." she added, Buneary blinking in surprise when noticing a tear in the corner of Servines eye. "He'll risk his life for you... Even if you've treated him like trash... That's what makes him a fool..." she told the rabbit, Gardevoir opening an eye with an irritated look on her face. "But... That's... What makes me... Respect him..." she continued, clutching her tail tightly. "...And love him, even though such a thing is normally worthless to most in this world. He has a way of getting inside your heart... And once it happens... You're trapped..." she admitted, sniffling and wiping her eyes while slowly loosening the grip on her tail. "But... Not in a bad way... For once in your life you never want, or intend to escape... Even though its frustrating beyond comprehension... Especially when you feel like you've done little to deserve the person you're trapped with..." she continued, letting her tail go and looking down. "...I'm horrible with expressing... Feelings... Since being with him, I've been able to taste pride again... To savor the feeling of worth in myself... To revel in the satisfaction of victory against those weaker than I... So admitting something such as this is difficult... To the point of feeling wrong really... Thinking and feeling for a human in such a way..." she explained as Gardevoir smiled with a nod and closed her eye, holding Chris's hand under the sheet. "Being like this with a human is a sign of ultimate disgrace for my kind. We're never to allow ourselves to feel for the human we accompany, no matter the reason for that partnership... They're to be a tool to aid in strengthening ourselves... Yet twice now I've gone against that rule... You could say I call him a fool because I'm just as much of a fool..." she admitted, raising her head and facing the television once again.

"...Told you these girls were swell..." Chris said, causing Gardevoir to gasp and jump away from him in surprise and embarrassment as Servine went wide eyed, her tail shooting up in the air as he opened an eye with a smile. "Never judge a book by its cover... There's so much more to it than that inside... No matter how rough around the edges it may seem..." he told Buneary as Servine shuddered and faced down. "Thanks for all the nice stuff you girls just said... Now I'll really have a good nights sleep..." he chuckled, closing his eye and dozing off once more with a smile on his face as the snake started munching on cracker after cracker, tears in her eyes while flushing in embarrassment and humiliation from being overheard. "Stupid... Stupid... Stupid... Stupid...!!" she muttered repeatedly as Gardevoir scratched her cheek shyly, a smile on her face as she scoot her way back under the blankets with a giggle. Looking at the group, Buneary sat silently for a moment before slowly crawling on top of Chris and laying on his chest, blushing slightly before resting her ear against his chest over his heart. "...Really like this..." she said with a smile. "Like what...?" Gardevoir asked as Servine glanced towards her. "This feeling... It's really warm... And his heart sounds really... Nice..." she replied, letting out a quiet sigh before closing her eyes. "...Spare me..." Servine muttered, focusing on the TV as Gardevoir sat up and tilt her head. "Heart...?" she asked, feeling for his chest and resting her ear close to his heart as well, closing her eyes with a blush of her own. "Mmm... Does... Sound good..." she muttered while relaxing. Keeping an eye on the two, Servine grumbled and made her way up to Chris as well, looking over the two as they slept soundly on his chest. "Don't you just look so peaceful..." she muttered, looking at Chris's face as well before making her way atop his chest, carefully positioning herself in an open space before cautiously resting her ear on his chest as well with a scowl on her face. "Tch... Just a bunch of... Thumping..." she muttered, a slight blush slowly appearing on her face while allowing herself to relax. "Big deal... Badump... Badump..." she added. After a moment, she too started getting weary, her eyelids drooping more and more until she nodded off alongside the others, leaving Chris covered in blankets and Pokemon as he muttered "waaarrrrm...", yawning and opening an eye once more. "...Ha ha. Love you girls..." he told them, putting his arms around them with a sigh as they slept to the sound of his heart.

After this, Chris woke the following morning with an excited pep in his step, Gerald returning and blinking at Chris in surprise as he grinned and hummed a tune while fixing up the bed and wiping the rings off the kitchen table from the night before. "My my... What's gotten into you today sir...?" he asked while looking over Bunearys choker. "Oh... Just a good nights sleep is all." he chuckled, heading into the kitchen and cleaning the glasses from the night before while whistling as he noticed Servine muttering to herself with a flush on her face, her tail swishing while trying to watch television. "A happy lad and a flustered young lady..." he muttered, raising an eyebrow only for Servine to throw the remote at him, Gerald dodging by a hair and blinking in surprise. "Nothing like THAT happened you senile baboon!!" she barked, the old butler taking a step back with a nervous look on his face as Gardevoir pat the snake on the head with a calm look. "Relax... Relax..." she told her, only for Servine to smack her hand away and sit with a plop, crossing her arms and muttering once more. "G... Good heavens... What on Earth DID happen...?" he asked, picking up the remote and putting the batteries and cover back in. "Expressed her feelings... Didn't know Chris listening... Embarrassed." Gardevoir told him, the snake suddenly snapping herself around Gardevoirs face and squeezing her tightly. "SILENCE!!" she snapped, the blind Pokemon growling with an irritated look before raising a finger and lifting Servine in the air, dropping her on the bed with a scowl. "Bad mood... Talk about loving Chris, now ashamed got caught." she told Gerald, exposing the already frustrated snake all the more as Gerald blinked in surprise before smiling. "Oh my... So the confession comes out eh...?" he chuckled as Servine jumped off the bed and went onto the balcony to vent, shutting the door behind her before pacing back and forth, tossing her arms in the air several times as she shout in her Pokemon tongue, Buneary twitching an ear and going wide eyed before covering her mouth with a raspy gasp. "Ha ha... I bet she's saying some pretty spicy stuff, huh?" Chris asked, wheeling up while drying his hands with a cloth as Buneary nodded. "Really bad mouth..." she replied as Gardevoir sighed and shook her head. "That how she is. Never honest with self, so when exposed, she go crazy." she added.

Once the group prepared for the day and Servine took her time venting outdoors, it was time for them to head out and return to the lab once again... Thanks to the boost provided by the girls encouragement at the lab the day before and their words from the previous night combined, Chris made it his daily routine to set off as soon as he could to the lab throughout the following weeks, each day pushing himself more and more to regain his ability to walk independently once again, albeit against the staffs request for him to ease himself along... Nonetheless, he continued to impress as his legs, slowly but surely, began moving little by little... Along his path to recovery, it turned out it wasn't just Gerald and the girls keeping an eye on him either, as he soon found himself visited by countless supporters, including children from the Millennium Hospital brought by nurses and their parents, the staff from the Pokemon center... Even the Warden stopped by to have a look at his training! Although he wasn't very vocal and merely nodded before taking his leave with each visit... Wondering how so many people knew where he was, it wasn't long before the news crew were caught in the act of making one of their usual broadcasts revolving his activities, Gerald bringing them to Chris by the back of their collars with an irritated grunt only for him to wave them off and thank them for playing a part in having so many paying him a visit, the crew showing surprised looks before quickly making an exit per the norm... The more he continued pushing himself and showing results, the more familiar faces came by to wish him luck, even getting a surprise visit from Guile and Lia who traveled all the way from Saga City and Commorral Town respectively to give him their own encouragement! Something that threw him off a bit, getting to see the two Gym Leaders he'd beaten side by side out of the blue...

"You've come a looooonnng way my boy... And yet it seems like such a short time ago when we met and battled one another... To think little Ralts has become such a breathtaking Gardevoir... I've never seen such a beautiful member of her species in all my years... The two of you should be proud." Guile told him during his visit as Pangoro looked her over in surprise, clapping for her and shaking her hand causing Gardevoir to flush and laugh in embarrassment as the giant Pokemon spoke in its native tongue, holding her hand and pressing a thumbs up against it before looking over the other Pokemon traveling with Chris, Servine slapping the poor bear on the nose when it leaned in too close. "You big oaf... Have you no respect for boundaries?!" she lectured as it backed off, holding a paw up and rubbing its nose with a tear in its eye causing Gardevoir to give the snake a lecture as Buneary looked up at the towering Pokemon in awe. "Oh the poor guy... Always one to let his curiosity get the better of him..." Guile sighed while shaking his head. "Ha ha, he's got the brawn, too bad he's really just a big softie inside!" Lia laughed while letting Infernape greet the other Pokemon as well, shaking Gardevoirs hand with a grin before looking at Servine with a sudden growl, the snake grinning and giving it a silent "bring it..." motion with her hand. "One little monkey scowling in my face, just because it got disgraced!" she sang, taunting the Pokemon while waving her finger before pulling down an eyelid and sticking out her tongue causing its fire to flare up as it jumped in irritation and chattered at her, Buneary watching its fire swirl about with a quiet "ooohhh!!" in response, the monkey pausing and blinking at her before looking up at its flame and grinning, giving the bunny a thumbs up with a macho pose only for Servine to smirk and swat her tail under its feet, knocking it down with an "oopsie..." as it groaned and sat up, looking at Servine with an enraged expression while she snickered. "I guess I should separate em' before Infernape burns down the place..." Lia laughed nervously, pulling it away from Servine as she smacked her butt and waved her tail at the monkey, causing it to shout and flail in anger before Lia returned it to its ball with a sigh. "Hot heads get in trouble..." she muttered, waving a finger at the Pokeball before putting it away as Chris rubbed his arm with a nervous laugh. "S... Sorry... She's really developed a feisty personality since we battled... I'm glad to see her this way now though! She's really changed..." he told Lia, giving Servine a wink and a thumbs up causing the snake to jolt and face away, waving her hand at him shyly in response.

With so many people continuously stopping by to give him support, Chris couldn't help but feel on top of the world all the more as he kept pushing himself forward, chipping away at his staff every night to finish it before his therapy was through while working on his secret project with Professor Rose during his rehabilitation... It seemed as though he was suddenly preoccupied 24/7 as Gerald and the girls kept watch over him, making sure nothing bad happened from strenuously pushing himself. "Master Chris... I really must ask that you take at least ONE day off... Just to recover..." the worried butler told him as he sat with the group in the waiting room one day while taking a break. "Recover from what? I'm feeling great!" he grinned in response, flexing an arm and giving it a pat. "I've had so many people coming to show their faith in me... And with these girls holding me in such high regard, I can't let anyone down!" he chuckled before looking down at Buneary. "Not to mention I've got competition... Isn't that right?" he added, the rabbit blinking at him before smiling and nodding excitedly, standing with a wobble and giving a solute with her ear. "And what kind of man would disgrace a lady by taking time off just to be lazy?" he smirked, giving Servine a thumbs up with a wink causing her to blush. "Ah hah... Right..." she replied, scratching her cheek shyly and smiling. "Plus, the more I'm here, the more I can finish working on something really... REALLY special..." he added, looking at Gardevoir and rubbing her on the head, the blind Pokemon jolting and blinking in surprise before showing a smile of her own and sighing. "...I do wish we knew what that was..." Gerald replied, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow. "The best things in life are often best left a surprise..." he answered, the old butler shaking his head with a shrug as he gave Gardevoir a warm smile before she suddenly wrapped her arms around him and started petting his head with a grin of her own. "Loooove yoooouuuuu!!" she told him with her natural voice, the group giving her a surprised look as he laughed and poked her cheek. "You too... All of ya..." he grinned, giving the rest a thumbs up.

After this, it wasn't long before Buneary came out of her casts as well, allowing the small rabbit to join Chris in the gym and train alongside him to regain her independence, something that didn't bode very well with Servine and Gardevoir as they continued being left outside in the waiting area... Nonetheless, the support kept coming in from them and other friends alike, Gardevoir taking the time at the lab to practice mastering her guitar and flute after Gerald offered to provide lessons to help keep her preoccupied during their time waiting for Chris, Servine often spending her time either snacking on something or dozing off in one of the window seals, taking in the sunlight giving her body all the more of a regal radiance to it with each passing day. A feature she didn't mind gloating about as well... Before they knew it, Chris and Buneary were ready to face their final day of therapy together, something that both, excited Chris and terrified him deep down... Along the way to the lab, he noticed one of the parks they drove by almost daily and decided to have Gerald stop the limo. With his new found strength, he was able to climb out and into his wheelchair on his own, standing albeit with a slight wobble remaining before plopping down in his seat. "Would you like us to accompany you Master Chris?" Gerald asked with a bow, the girls starting to climb out only for him to raise a hand and tell them "no" in response while offering to pick up Buneary, the rabbit blinking in surprise before nodding and climbing off her seat. Still wobbling herself, she made her way toward him and paused as he suddenly wheeled back slightly. "As for you... If you can reach me, I'll let you tag along..." he told her with a warm smile, Gardevoir and Servine letting out a "whaaaa?!" in response, only for Chris to put up his hand and shake his head at Servine, the snake letting out an insulted noise before turning away and crossing her arms while Gardevoir sat in her seat with a pouty face, her own arms crossed as the small rabbit looked towards the ground. "No no... Eye contact. Focus on me." he told her. Looking up at him, she nodded and took several deep breaths, the trembling in her legs slowly ceasing as she clutched the door frame. "Come on now... You can do it!" he smiled. Slowly letting go of the frame, she started hopping slightly in place, wincing for a moment while standing still before hopping in again, and after a moment of practice, she let out a grunt and made a leap in his direction, landing right in his hands with her eyes tightly shut as he laughed and sat her on his lap. "That's it! There ya go!" he laughed as she opened an eye, then the other as she felt her leg over that was in the cast with a relieved sigh, looking up at Chris with a smile and letting out a raspy giggle. "Atta girl... I can just barely walk, yet look at you jumping right into my arms... Even giving it my all, I'm still in second place! You're an amazing girl!" he praised, giving the rabbit a thumbs up causing her to flush while shaking her head and waving her hands in embarrassment. "Modesty... See there Servine?" he chuckled, giving the snake a smirk as she blew a raspberry in response.

Nodding at the group, Chris gave them a wave and assured he wouldn't be long, Gerald bowing once again with a smile while the two Pokemon grumbled jealously. "Oh... Need this too..." he muttered, wheeling up to the door and reaching towards his seat, pulling out his staff and looking it over. "It really is a magnificent carving... To turn such a battered stick off the road into something like that..." Gerald praised, walking up and looking it over himself. "Ha ha... When you live in the middle of a forest with a bunch of elders for years, you learn many old school tricks..." Chris replied with a smirk before wheeling off into the park. "It's the last day at the gym..." he said, Buneary looking up and tilting his head as he made his way along. Once he felt he was out of sight from Gerald and Servine, he took a deep breath and put Buneary on his shoulder. "Okay... I can do it... I can do it..." he muttered as the rabbit gave him a concerned look, watching as he clutched his staff with trembling hands. Taking a deep breath, Chris slowly pushed himself up from the chair, wobbling while clutching his cane tightly with a terrified look on his face. "Can do it... Can do it..." he muttered, seemingly frozen as his body trembled before Buneary made a worried sound, poking his cheek causing him to jolt and laugh nervously. "S... Sorry! All good..." he told her, taking a hand off his staff carefully and giving her a thumbs up. "Alright... Just like the song... One foot... Front of the other..." he muttered, raising up properly with another deep breath. Once he felt the trembling cease in his legs, he started cautiously walking forward, leaning on his staff with both hands until he felt comfortable enough to walk holding it in only one. "One foot... Front of other... Just walkin' out the door..." he said to himself while sweating with a nervous yet determined look on his face, Buneary keeping a firm clutch on his coat. Looking ahead, there was a huge fountain in the center of the parks plaza he set as his goal, nodding with a grunt as he continued taking step after step. "It's still rough... But there isn't really any pain... On top of healing the worst of the wounds, I really owe Ninetails for getting rid of Houndoom's curse for me too... Getting burned by one is supposed to cause pain forever..." he said, the rabbit tilting her head with a shocked look. "Oh... That's right... We haven't really told you EVERYTHING yet..." he replied, telling her "sorry" before patting her on the head. "I'll tell you some other..." he added with a pause, feeling as though something or someone was suddenly stalking him. "Time... Ever get the feeling... You're bein' watched...?" he asked, the rabbit blinking confused before twitching and turning her ears in different directions. "...Been feeling that a lot lately and haven't been wrong yet... Like when I met Servine... Then those reporters and N..." he muttered, clutching his staff tightly. As he turned and started heading back towards his chair, Chris suddenly felt something tap his shoulder, causing him to shout and quickly turn around, swinging his staff only for it to slam into something and bounce off, sending him stumbling back and onto the ground with a thud. "Owww ow ow oww... What's the idea?!!" he shout, raising up and holding his staff out only to freeze when he saw an Aegislash looking down at him, blinking curiously while holding its shield as Buneary shook her head from the sudden fall and looked up as well, freezing and quickly ducking behind Chris's head. "Woah... You look pretty cool..." he muttered. Continuing to look down at him, Aegislash suddenly held out its hand, helping Chris back up before hovering around him. "Are you... Lost or something...?" he asked as it suddenly hovered in front of his face, looking in his eyes up close. "I... I'm sorry for hitting you... I've had a few people popping in and out lately and it has me a bit on edge..." he laughed nervously as the Pokemon backed away and waved its hand while making a motion as if shaking its head in response, pointing at its shield and tapping it. "Oh... Gotcha... Glad I didn't actually hit you then." he told it with a nod. "So uh... What can I... Do for you...?" he asked, the Pokemon hovering around him once again, seemingly sizing him up before motioning as if nodding and waving his hand for Chris to follow. "A... Alright... Just let me get..." he replied, pausing as he turned towards his chair only for Aegislash to suddenly run itself through it, the chair slowly sliding apart in half before collapsing. "H... Hey!! I needed that!!" he shout, suddenly clutching his staff with both hands nervously as the Pokemon looked him over and shook its head, pointing in the opposite direction.

"Ngh... Alright alright..." he muttered as Aegislash hovered past him, waving his hand for Chris to follow once again. Cautiously making his way along, Chris slowly grew more and more confident in his ability to walk a long distance as the trembling in his legs came and went less and less. "...So far so good, but I'd rather not push my luck..." he muttered, glancing at Aegislash as it continued floating onward. "...Why am I even following it? I don't even know the Pokemon or who it belongs to... I'm easy pickings for a mugger..." he added, glancing around cautiously. Along their way through the park, Aegislash looked him over several times, making motions as if nodding and shaking its head at random for whatever reasons before finally coming to a stop. "Okay... Now what...?" he asked, starting to sweat and pant slightly. Slowly turning and facing him, Aegislash pointed towards a man in a suit relaxing next to a woman in an office dress, typing away on her laptop while the man spoke on a phone. "Oh... Found your owner?" he asked, the Pokemon motioning as if nodding before going into its Shield Forme and pushing him from behind towards the two. "A... Alright! Easy, easy!" he shout nervously, stumbling forward as they reached them. Looking at the two, they failed to notice him while continuing to seemingly work, only looking his way when he cleared his throat and tossed out a friendly "hello" As the Aegislash hovered next to him. "...Eh? Oh... If it isn't the rebellious Millennium Hero!" the man replied, hanging up his phone and standing in front of him. "Good to see you again lad, and on your feet especially! So glad your rehabilitation has gone so well." he told Chris, shaking his hand with a grin. "Oh... You're... Wait a sec... You run this place!!" he suddenly shout, stumbling back as the man laughed. "The man remembers me! With that look on your face I was worried you'd developed amnesia!" he replied, nodding in response before looking towards Aegislash. "Huh... I take it my Pokemon led you to me...?" he asked, raising an eyebrow with a sudden curious look on his face.

"Ah... Yeah... It did..." he replied, suddenly scowling at the sword. "And it sliced my wheelchair in half beforehand..." he grumbled as it went back into Sword Forme and shrugged. "Well... I'd say it did you a favor... Doesn't look like you need it anymore to me!" the Mayor told him with a laugh. "Ah... Forgive me, it isn't a laughing matter." he told Chris with a nod. "I can replace it fairly quickly if you'd like." he told him as Aegislash looked between the two before facing Chris once more. "Well..." he muttered, looking down at his legs as they began to tremble, only for him to let out a grunt and stomp a foot as if lecturing them. "...I guess I'll be fine without it now..." he replied, the Mayer showing a smirk as Aegislash continued looking at him in silence. "Uhh... What's wrong with it by the way...? Since it found me that swords kept giving me these intense looks..." he told the Mayer. "Ahh... You don't know much about this Pokemon do you...? Allow me to..." he replied with a pause as someone suddenly cleared their throat loudly, the two looking towards a pair of nearby bushes as Gerald and the others climbed out. "Allow ME to explain!" the old butler said, smirking with his nose up proudly while the girls waved with nervous smiles. "Y... You followed me... This whole time...?" Chris asked, groaning and rubbing his face in humiliation. "Naturally! You don't think us careless enough to let you wander off alone after all our previous experiences do you?" he asked, getting a sigh from Chris in response as Servine looked him over in surprise. "About that explanation... You see sir, Aegislash is a Pokemon with an eye for potential nobility... Any human it recognizes, long ago, was said to be destined to become a king..." he explained, the girls going wide eyed as Aegislash seemingly nodded with a thumbs up. "Uhh... Me...? A king...?" he asked, blinking at the blade and pointing at himself before suddenly snickering and laughing. "Ohhh wow... Noooo no no nooo... Not me." he replied, shaking his head and waving his free hand. "I appreciate the compliment, but that's really not my kinda thing... I don't intend to ever rule over anyone." he told the group, only to suddenly get bashed on the head by Aegislash using its shield, making a loud clang on impact causing him to shout and clutch his head in response. "You neeeever want to doubt the recognition of an Aegislash lad." he warned. "Look at the man I became! It recognized me long ago, and here I am today!" he laughed as the sword seemingly nodded at him with another thumbs up. "You see friends... Just because it recognizes you, doesn't determine what KIND of leader you'll become one day... Only that the potential for it lies somewhere within you... You'll just have to discover that potential for yourself in your own way." the Mayer explained as Chris groaned, wincing when touching the swelling bump on his head. "Oww ow ow... You could have just knocked sense into me with that explanation instead of the brute force then you know..." he scowled, the sword shrugging once more and waving its finger in a "don't doubt me then" kind of way.

"Aegislash is brutal but honest... I find it interesting, yet not entirely surprising considering what we know of you thus far since you arrived in my city." he replied, giving Aegislash a thumbs up of his own and nodding. "You've got as great a choice as ever in people with potential old friend." he told the sword, getting a proud bow from it in response before hovering by his side. "Yeah... Thanks again, I guess." he told the Mayer, rubbing his hand and looking his hand over to make sure he wasn't bleeding. "You've got a match coming up as well with our top Warden, correct...? I'm afraid that's a legal matter between the two of you... I've already stepped in once so please forgive me for not being able to do so a second time. Keep in mind I have to maintain a certain image... Pardoning criminals, no offense, doesn't look too good if done frequently." he explained, Chris waving his hand in response. "Don't worry about it... You saved us big time before so you've got nothing to apologize for. Thanks again for that by the way." he told the Mayor, shaking his hand once more. After a moment, the Mayors phone started ringing continuously, causing him to bid the group farewell before motioning for his assistant to follow and heading off, Aegislash looking back at Chris and giving another thumbs up before returning to its Shield Forme and following the Mayor, leaving them behind as Gerald and Servine looked him over. "Well done Master Chris... Well done indeed!!" he praised, giving him a clap as the snake nodded with a smirk. "Not bad at all... About time you got rid of that thing." she added, giving him a thumbs up. "Yeah well... It's still a bit rough on me without it..." he replied, about to sit at the bench until Gardevoir had Gerald bring her up to him, feeling his body over and rubbing her way up and down his legs. "Standing... Standing.. On own..." she said, slowly rising up as tears welled up in her eyes. "That good... Happy for you..." she told him, clutching her hands together against her chest tightly. "Ahh... Y... Yeah... I didn't want you guys to find out until I had a bit more confidence but... Yeah..." he replied with an embarrassed look on his face. "Can... Hug...?" she asked, causing him to blink confused. "Uh... Sure... Just don't knock me down." he laughed nervously as she held her arms out, facing down and biting her lip. "O... Oy... What's that all about?" he asked, tilting his head before walking and putting his arms around her.

"Just really happy... You on feet again..." she replied, hiding her face as she started hicking causing him to show a worried look, Servine rolling her eyes and shaking her head with a chuckle as Gerald nodded with a smile, Buneary showing a touched look and making a raspy "awww..." noise while looking down at Gardevoir from atop his shoulder. "Ah geez... Come on..." he said with a blush, patting Gardevoir on the head with a sigh before nudging her back and wiping her eyes. "Couldn't have done it without all of you---ooop!!" he shout, suddenly stumbling back and falling onto the bench with a groan as Buneary struggled to hang on and climb back over his shoulder, the group reaching towards him before sighing in relief. "Well... I'm good to go for the most part anyways!" he laughed in embarrassment, rubbing the back of his head only to wince with a hiss from touching the bump Aegislash left behind.

Once he had enough rest, the group helped him up and made their way back to the limo, finally walking side by side with Chris after months in the hospital and enduring rehabilitation combined... The man already thought of in the hearts of those around him as a Guardian was on his feet at last...

Pokemon - Tale Of The Guardian Master - CH 65
Previous Chapter - https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=898046

Next Chapter - Soon

A young man named Chris, now 23, discovered he was the one chosen to carry a curse passed onto him through his bloodline by a Ninetails his grandfather saved long ago, having grabbed its sacred tails to save it from falling to its demise. Burdened with this fate, Chris accepts it and allows the curse to guide him freely in life, destined to forever put others before himself, to forever follow the path the curse guides him along towards those in need most...

Along his journey thus far, Chris has come across a Ralts who was abandoned by its former trainer for being blind, hurled off the edge of a cliff that has since evolved into a full fledged Gardevoir, with the mysterious and terrifying ability to use the power of a Shadow Pokemon... As well as a Snivy who has since become a Servine, abandoned by its former trainer for refusing to evolve after a terrifying battle it had with a Serperior that left it mentally scarred.

Chris has met many people and Pokemon alike along his journey, each left as inspired by his presence as the last... He's taught Gardevoir and Servine the worth in every living being, sacrificed himself to save them after a deadly attack by a pack of Houndoom, hurling himself off a cliff and nearly dying... Provided a hospital full of children an awe inspiring play room full of wonders any child would adore... And has inspired the mysterious N from the Pokemon series as well, finding Chris a worthy man of keeping an eye on along his journey...

Now, Chris lingers on the line between hero and criminal, having broken the law by invading the largest prison in his region to free their newest friend, a Buneary that was abused by her former trainer, now an inmate thanks to Chris... In the process, he took the trainers other Pokemon as well, stripping away his right to be a trainer for his brutal crimes against his own Pokemon.

Ahh, it's great to know Chris is more or less back up on his feet now :D Quite a few touching moments between everyone also, and well...I'm rather looking forward to seeing what is in store for Buneary from here on out hehe I'm liking this little masochist rabbit xD

As always, keep up the great writing and I can't wait for the showdown with the Warden...it'll be rather good and fun I think :)

Names… I couldn’t decide which is better, Chris giving them names or letting them chose their own name. It probably depends on the Situation. While we will learn their names in the not too distant future, I would also like to know what Buneary answer to Chris question in the Shop was. XD

This Chapter was a wonderful emotional roller coaster with an excellent LWR adding to it.

Great chapter. Very well done. The bit with Aegislash was a nice touch, and it was good to see the good gym leaders again if only for a short scene.
Great chat the girls had there too, that Chris was apparently awake for. And always nice hearing how Servine really feels when she isn't putting on airs.
Heh, I really like the way Buneary is shaping up too. Only bodes well.
