I paused for a while at her front door while I contemplated what she said. Regulated, kissing.... Does that mean.... No. She couldn't. Could she? I paused for a little while longer until I heard something.
"Psst! Hey lover-boy!" I heard someone whisper above me.
I looked up and not much to my surprise I saw Blaze sticking her head out of the second floor window that was conveniently placed above the door. Oh shit.... Please tell me she didn't see Amy and I kissing.
"H-hi Blaze...." I said shyly back.
She giggled and asked, "So, what's with the bags? Did you and Amy go shopping?"
"Y-yes. She thought my style was a bit bland so she thought she could help me out with a wardrobe." My chest thumped pretty hard and I started to sweat a bit. I hope she doesn't come down to smell me.
Then, she jumped down and landed in front of my and looked up at me, smiling deviously.

"Oh really. Is that ALL that happened?" She asked with a mischievous tone in her voice.
"Y-yes... She was just helping me out." I said as my chest thumped faster. Goddammit.
"Hmm." Blaze said as she began to sniff me, "Lets see. You two had lunch, and then. Something else happened.... Wait." She said as she got closer to my face, smelling my lips, "I recognize that. Only one person I know that has lips that smell like that. Oh Shadow.... Did you really?" She finished as her smile widened further.
"I-it was an accident! S-she just. I-I...." I couldn't say anything. This is so embarrassing.
"Shadow.... Something tells me it wasn't an accident because I can smell a lot of her lip gloss on you. Don't worry. I won't tell anyone else." She said with a sincere and empathetic smile.
So I told her. I told her about what I told Amy and how she kissed me to prove me wrong, and I also told her about the kiss we just had. She was just smiling the whole time.
I crossed my arms and said, "Why are you smiling? This isn't funny..."
Blazer giggled and said, "Because.... My dear, Black, heroic, hedgehog. You just had your first kiss today....."
Damn.... She was right. I just, had my first kiss, from Amy... Someone who was chasing that blue hedgehog for years. And now suddenly, she's chasing me....
"Blaze... I have to know. Amy told me about that talk she had with Sonic and how he never wanted to be with her. Then she just stopped. But there was more to it than that.... Wasn't there."
Blaze sighed and said, "Yea.... She was broken after that. And not just regular heartbroken, we honestly thought she would stay in her room forever.... Which she kinda did. She never came out for a good few months. There was nothing that could cheer her up.... We would hear her crying for hours on end. She barely ate. It worried us even more when we couldn't hear her crying. That's when we checked on her, and she would always have soaked pillows and mountains of used tissues. And, there was this one time...." Blaze paused for a bit as a tear fell from her eye, "One time, 4 weeks ago. I caught her holding a razor to her wrist.... I never thought it would get that bad. Thankfully I was able to stop her. She hugged me and cried for a solid 5 hours.... She told me that she honestly had lost the will to live. Until, recently that is...."
"Really now." I said, a little puzzled.
"Yea... She actually lightened up just 3 weeks ago. She finally came out of her room. She was still sad but she was out, but she still stayed in the house for 2 weeks. Then, this last week she actually went outside with us for the first time in 2 and a half months. That's when we could actually get a sincere, but weak, smile from her. Then, you came along. And now she's back to her normal self...."
"Really. How can you tell?" I said.
"When you dropped her off this morning after our little mishap. The only thing she talked about was what happened. How happy she was to see you, how much she enjoyed the lunch, and how worried she was when you blacked out.... She also told us about how much she enjoyed watching over you while you were asleep." She giggled a bit at that last part, "She said you looked like a dark prince that was put under a spell that could be awoken by a kiss...."
I paused and said, "Did she try to sneak in a kiss while I was out?!"
Blaze laughed and said, "She said she was tempted. But she just sat there with you until she fell asleep. And then, she said she really enjoyed cooking for you as well. She couldn't stop thinking about you Shadow... You, made her really happy." She said as she gently stroked my arm.
"Blaze... I have to know. Amy was my first kiss.... But, who was her first kiss?"
"Honestly... That honor.... Belongs to you. All those years of Chasing Sonic, and the cold bastard never gave her a sincere kiss... Maybe a few pecks on the cheek but that was it." She said as she looked at me.
"Blaze... I get this very weird feeling in me chest whenever I'm near her. It happened when she first touched my hand and ever since. It can't stop when I'm near her. It feels like my chest fills up with helium and I feel so light, and, good. What does it mean?" I said a little concerned.
Blaze only smiled for a while.
"Blaze?"
"Oh Shadow, you sly devil.... It seems as if Amy Rose has stolen your heart."
I stopped for a while, "........ What?"
"Shadow... Somebody only gets that feeling when they are in love."
"................................................. What?"
Blaze giggled a bit and said, "Shadow.... It's not that hard. Sure, you may not have known her that well, but she has certain qualities that you like, and now, you just can't help yourself... For, what I'm assuming is the first time in a long time, you are developing feelings for Amy. And that's okay Shadow. For all I know, she probably feels the same way."

"I... Didn't think that was possible..... At all."
"Shadow.... It's possible. Even for a warrior like you, because anybody can fall in Love."
"But... I have never thought positive emotion was possible for me. I've only ever known anger, and sadness. But now, Damn, I..... Feel so nice around her."
Blaze smiled and said, "That's good Shadow. It's about time that you started truly living. And not just be a sentinel that hides away until duty calls."
"Blaze.... If you can do me a favor.... Don't tell Amy yet. I have to make sure about everything. Before she knows about my feelings. I don't want to poison her hopes, like He did...."
"Of course...." Blaze said as she hugged me, then she whispered, "By the way, she's just around that age to also, think inappropriate thoughts about others... Including you. So watch out...."
I blushed hard at her last words as she let me go, I said, "Thank you for your wisdom Blaze. Let Amy know that I'll be back tomorrow to spend some time with her..."
"I will killer..." She said as she jumped back up into her window.
I teleported home and put all my new clothes away. I stripped down completely and lay down on my bed...

After all these years, I found someone, that actually can make me feel good about myself....
She doesn't anger me, she doesn't make me depressed, and she only barely annoys me....
If this is what love is, then I like it.... A lot.....
