How I claimed Amy Rose

A narrative through the eyes of Shadow the Hedgehog

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I teleported away and into the police station since I had to do some worthless paper work and some other boring and tedious tasks. I walked up to the chief and he pointed me in the direction of where I needed to go and I walked up to an officers desk. It was the same officer that thanked me when I busted the car.

"Hi there, again....." I said as I crossed my arms.

She jumped up and saluted me, saying, "Oh it's you! My name is officer Nikita-"

I cut her off by raising my hand, "Let me first say, I hate formalities... Not because I'm not interested in meeting others, it just believe they are a huge waste of time."

She slightly relaxed and responded with, "Yes sir, sorry sir..."

I never got a good look at her the first time, but I see that she's an anthro dark husky, 5' 10", short black hair with white highlights, her right eye had a scar and is silvery, while her left eye is dark brown and she also has a chunk taken out of her left ear, along with various other scars. As if her scars weren't already a hint her lightly muscular body tells me that she's quite the fighter and trooper. Glad to know cops like her are still around.

"You can relax... I just need to review the boring-ass paperwork and sign the damn lines and I will be out of your fur." I said as I sat in the chair in front of her desk.

"Yes sir, here it is," She said as she handed me a hefty stack of paper.

I sighed heavily as I picked it up and read through it. I glanced over at her and she was giving me a rather awkward look.

"Something on your mind rookie?" I said as I continued with the papers.

"N-nothing sir... Wait, how did you know I was a rookie?" She asked.

"Because only rookies start off with formalities, and that you respect me.... In time, you'll learn to hate me." I said as I looked around. All the other cops were giving me the looks they always gave me. But it doesn't matter, they can rot for all I care.

"Sir, I find that hard to believe."

"Oh? What have the other officers told you?" I said as I raised my brow.

"Well, they told me that this job would be rather easy since you usually save the day.... I don't see why that's a bad thing."

"Heh. In time, you'll see.... With the power that I have, I can't be stopped. Sure, I have kept the casualties at an all time low for a few years now, but the thing is. Why would you be a criminal in the very city that the ultimate life form lives in and protects?" I said as I looked at her.

"Oh.... I see. The less crime there is." She paused.

"The less you get paid. I got many complaints in the past because I did everything. Chases, arrests, processing and everything. So I had to lighten up. Now they say that I'm just being lazy. But the reality is, I have to let the cops do something. So I just take on the dangerous cases, while the others take on the shit jobs. So, like I said, you'll learn to hate me sooner or later...." I said as I returned to the paperwork, signing a few lines as necessary.

"But. Why should their pay even matter? The fact is, the city is safe. No officer has died in the past 4 years. Which is amazing! The streets are clean and everything is fine. They are just being ungrateful at this point." She said as she darted a glare as some of the other officers that were checking her out.

"Heh, but that's just the thing isn't it. How could they thank me when their jobs thrive on the sins and stupidities of mortals." I said as I glared at the officers that Nikita was also glaring at. They looked away and went back to work, "Like I said. You might as well stop looking up to me. I'm not a hero, I'm a weapon. Nothing more... And the only people who appreciate me-"

I stopped. That's weird. When I said that, I thought of Amy. She... Appreciates me. Nobody does that... They either hate me, fear me, or just get to me to use me. But she.... She treats me differently.

"Mr. Shadow?"

I snap out of it and look at Nikita, "Are you okay sir?"

"Yes, I'm fine. Like I said, I might have some fans that SEEM to appreciate what I do. But they just want to push their own agenda through me. I don't even know why I bother."

"You know, I looked through your record sir. And it's very impressive. You defeated armies, smashed through minions and defeated beings of immense power. You basically saved the world several times!"

"But guess who gets all the credit for it...." I said in a low growl.

"Oh.... Right...." She said as she wilted her ears.

"Well, there's no way I can convince you to stop admiring me while you're ahead. But just remember, I can save everyone on this planet 10 times over... But they will always remember what I am.... A freak... An experiment gone wrong that is just sticking around. They will never thank me because they have it in their heads that I'm a ticking time-bomb. So they just stay away to be safe. But some of them ignore that and try to get with me because they enjoy the danger. I don't understand what it is they want from me. I have little to offer other than protection..." I say as I sign the last line, "But that's the price you pay for being born." I got up and everyone flinched. I looked around the room. All of them still fear me. "That's right.... Just keep fearing me. Because I'm just something born out of a damn test tube, even when I had no choice. Fear me like you fear a gruesome monster. But just remember this... If you all hate me so much. Why not tell me to leave? Hmm? Oh right. Because if anyone gets wind of my departure, this city will fall into the chaos it once had. So you can glare at me, curse me, talk about me behind my back and whatever... But you had all better remember, that you should be thankful for what I am doing... Because this city would be an absolute shit-hole if I didn't come in and take over. But you mortals are so selfish and only care about the money you aren't getting. Pathetic...."

I slowly walked out the door before I heard, "Sir!"

I turned around and saw Nikita saluting me again.

"Please... Nobody is going to respect you if you keep doing that." I said with annoyance in my voice.

"I don't care sir... I'm glad you're here sir. If you weren't, none of us would still be alive. I could care less about the pay. You have kept us safe all this time when you didn't have to. I know that you had a horrible past, but that didn't stop you from saving us. Thank you...."

Thank you..... Not something I hear often. I looked around and saw some of the officers stirring and murmuring a bit.

"You should stop thanking me. You won't make many friends here if you do" I said as I walked out.

Things are getting weird. First Amy, now this? Anyway, it's almost lunch time. I should check the shop for Amy.

I teleport over and saw her waiting outside, I walked up to her and she hugged me tightly....

So, soft....

"Hey Shadow! Glad you made it!" She said happily.

"Y-yea... Let's get inside." I said as I walked her in. got my usual, she got a wrap. We sat outside again and she smiled at me, "So, are you feeling okay today?"

"Yes..." I said as I ate my sandwich.

"Any... Hallucinations?" she asked.

Wait. I only told her about the flashbacks. How could she possibly know?

"I.... Never mentioned hallucinations. What makes you say that?"

"Shadow.... I heard you talking to yourself. If something is wrong, please tell me! I might actually be able to help." Amy said ash she held my hands.

Why does she care about me? I have done so little for her.

"I'm pretty sure it would be a waste of time...." I said to her.

"Shadow..... I also heard you drop a knife. Please..... Just tell me whats going on."

Goddammit.

"Rose.... Why..... Of all the mortals in the world. Why do you care? We only met a few times. And.... It just doesn't make any sense at all!" I said as I stared at her.

She started tearing up as she let go of my hands, "Shadow... I just want to help. Because that's what friends do. And lately, you seemed so lonely. So, I thought I could help."

Dammit.... I messed up.

"Please Shadow.... Just tell me."

I paused for a long time before I decided to say, "It doesn't happen all the time. But, every so often.... I... See... A piece of my flesh peeled off a bit. When I rip it off, I see a metal endoskeleton. I see, an android. He's the doubt I still hold in my mind.... Because, I still don't know if I'm living."

"So... You still think you aren't alive. And, even though I hate his guts, Eggman himself told you that you weren't an android! I mean c'mon! You, are, Shadow.... A hedgehog! There's no way that you are an android!" She said as she squeezed my hands.

"Care to prove it?" I said as I stared at her.

Amy paused for a long time before she did something that I would have never expected in a million years.

She grabbed my cheeks and pulled my face into hers and we kissed...

I froze as my lips met with her silky and soft lips... My face heated up and my chest thumped uncontrollably as I sat there. That feeling filled up my chest again.... I felt so light and so relaxed...

I never knew that a kiss could feel so good, especially coming from a girl as soft as Amy. She moaned slightly as she moved her lips against mine, as if she wanted more of what I had to offer...

After what seemed like an eternity, she slowly broke off the kiss and let my face go and sat down. Her face was the reddest I have ever seen and her smile and eyes were at their brightest. She looked so happy.

I just sat there.... For the first time in a long time. I had no idea what to say or do. I felt so light and just. So.... Good... This is the best I have ever felt in years.

"So.... Tell me. Would an android have enjoyed that?" Amy said.

And I just sat there. Staring at her.... With my jaw still open from when she kissed me.

Amy giggled at me as she held my cheek, "Your cheeks are so red Shadow... Last time I checked, not too many androids can do that...."

Again. I want to move my mouth but I just can't. Even if I could I'm not sure if I can get any words out. I am seriously speechless....

"Wow. I didn't think that a kiss could affect you THAT much Shadow. I never thought I could leave anyone speechless...." She said as she giggled.

I finally got my senses back and I gently lay my hand on Amy's and I looked at her bright face.

"I don't know what to say. But, I.... Feel, good...."

She smiled and hugged me tightly and said, "Oh! Shadow that's great! Don't you see? You just as alive as the rest of us!"
