Since having a bunch of kids living in a mansion unsupervised is always a bad idea, I introduce an adult who pretty much runs the mansion that Max inherited and had the Legendary Characters repair (which is how they were introduced to them and eventually became their pupils). She is the oldest Mimosas at about 21.
Max's family was rich, but before he could claim his inheritance, a mansion they called their summer home, Child Protective Services put him in McIntyre Orphanage where the mansion was left to rot.
After the escape they left to the mansion and the rest is well known.
