Leutnant Spoetzl is one of Hauptmann Messler's officers, serving directly under Oberleutnant Karl Taussig. Although a competent enough subordinate, he lacks initiative and is regarded as somewhat slow-witted by his superiors and subordinates alike. His sole Iron Cross 2nd Class was won mostly by accident. However, he is very loyal to Messler and always eager to serve him.
