Middle-aged and somewhat fat, it's easy to underestimate Brugge, who serves as a feldwebel (sergeant) under Messler in Greece. But as his trio of Iron Crosses can attest (his Iron Cross 1st Class is hidden behind the lefthand MP40 magazine pouches), he is a brave and capable squad leader, and Messler trusts almost no one else to carry out his orders, not even Taussig and Spoetzl. Highly intelligent and adaptable, Brugge can often be seen charging fearlessly into battle, MP40 brandished, as often as he can be seen enjoying the Greek night life and gorging himself on good local food.
