what did the second roll hit [you roll a second time on critical to determine severity from weak, to normal to massive, varying by ruleset of course, this for our non dnd playing friends in some rulesets rolling a natural 20 twice in a row trigers a lethal strike, that is to say no mater how strong the foe is it dies, instantly course the oddds of rolling a natural 20, twice in sucsesion are astronomicly low, just geting the natural 20 the first time is hard]

I get nat twennies all the time on the first roll. lol
Also; we don't have a second roll in our system.
Crits do weapon damage based on the threat range.
For example, this +1 Great Club is a large two handed weapon. It has a threat range of 19-20 and does double damage on a critical strike. [ 2D8(#)(#) ]

if you get natural 20s that often then you are a lucky bastered, youd think that its just 1 in 20 right...wrong...theres a ton of other variables that make it more like 1 in 100 sitll not astronomicly low but not something you should be haveing often either.

Our rogue rolled a natural 20 with her new vorpal dagger and decapitated a kraken. Funny thing is, she was using a campaign specific special ability and the massive damage would've killed it anyway.
Our GM gives us superpowers and then complains that it's impossible to put up encounters that challenge us. XD For the record, my first move was to fly high above the kraken in air elemental form (druid yay) then use my own campaign ability to swap places with the barbarian, who'd readied to drop sword-first on the big squiddie while surrounded by a tornado from his own special. Damage = massive.

The balance of the system (Pathfinder for this group) doesn't help when it's story-specific superpowers. Also the GM is my husband, so I definitely plan to continue playing in the group regardless, and my complaining is mostly in good humor. We also have a separate group of friends on a different day, and we tend to jump around systems. 4th edition, 5th edition, Warhammer 40k, Pathfinder... our current game with the Saturday group is a modified version of Warhammer 40k's Dark Heresy system, set in an alternate version of the world of Neon Genesis Evangelion (the PDF is called "Adeptus Evangelion" if you want to look for it). Fun stuff! =^_^=
