I read at least one tale where the young hero is taken by a handsome man and pretty lady to where he, newly orphaned, would live, BUT the two, once there, then drove off in another car leaving the boy to be dealt with by a nasty man ! He practically put the boy in a dungeon. The boy soon saw reason to justify his escape, and he fled to an abandoned subway entrance where a strange cloaked and hatted figure beckoned him into the station where a strange train covered with cabalistic symbols awaited...
