The Rabbit Rules
as excerpted from a letter
by Walter Elliot
1
¹Rabbits are the greatest species. ²Rabbits do not need violence to achieve their goals. ³Rabbits succeed with intelligence, hard work and determination. ⁴The world will be saved by good rabbits.
2
¹A good rabbit is helpful to other rabbits, ²because rabbits are worthy of help. ³A good rabbit is helpful to all, ⁴because helping others improves the world. ⁵A good rabbit gives the best they can, ⁶because the world needs all a rabbit can offer.
3
¹A good rabbit is honest, ²because deception is a hindrance to happiness. ³A good rabbit respects every day, ⁴because each day is an opportunity to share their happiness with others. ⁵A good rabbit does not take from others, ⁶because theft breeds malevolence. ⁷A good rabbit is not envious, ⁸because jealously breeds resentment.
4
¹A good rabbit reserves their anger, ²because solutions are more important than vengeance. ³A good rabbit respects life, ⁴because to kill is to destroy part of the world.
5
¹A good rabbit does not waste his seed or her egg, ²because a rabbit life is precious. ³A good rabbit accepts any opportunity with a gracious mate, ⁴because the world needs more good rabbits. ⁵A good rabbit does not mate too close to their line, ⁶because diversity breeds healthy rabbits.
6
¹Rabbits are the greatest species. ²The world will be saved by good rabbits.

¹Rabbits are the greatest species. ²The world will be saved by good rabbits.
1
¹In order to keep rabbits pure, ²a good rabbit only mates with good rabbits. ³In order to keep rabbits great, ⁴a good rabbit does not mate within their own family. ⁵In order to fill the world with good rabbits, ⁶a good rabbit takes any chance to breed.
2
¹Good rabbits are worthy of help, ²so any good rabbit is helpful to other rabbits. ³The world is improved by helping others, ⁴so a good rabbit is helpful to all. ⁵The world needs all a rabbit can offer, ⁶so a good rabbit gives the best they can.
3
¹Because deception is a hindrance to happiness, ²a good rabbit is always honest. ³Because theft breeds malevolence, ⁴a good rabbit does not take from others. ⁵Because jealously breeds resentment, ⁶a good rabbit is not envious. ⁷Because each day is an opportunity to share their joy with others, ⁸a good rabbit makes the most of every day.
4
¹Hatred sours the world, ²so a good rabbit contains their anger. ³Destroying any life takes from the world, ⁴so a good rabbit will never kill.
5
¹Rabbits are the greatest species. ²Rabbits do not need violence to achieve their goals. ³Rabbits succeed with intelligence, hard work and determination. ⁴The world will be saved by good rabbits.
