Pacifier Girl –Chapter 1
A young girl age of about 16 years of age long brown hair and pale white skin runs through dark woods unknown of her location. All she knows it is dark and unsafe. She continues her frantic run almost if someone was right at her heels. The girl turns her head back to get a look at the pursuer. This was a mistake as she ends up tripping and falling straight on her back. As she tries to regain her footing on the world she finally sees her attacker. A shadow of pure darkness and malice is speeding to her. The girl frozen in fear doesn’t move only watches as the creature gets closer and closer. As the shadow draws near the girl closes her eyes and prepares for the inevitable. Shes waits, but the end does not come. She opens her eyes and sees the creature floating above her only mere inches away. A bright pink light was emitted from her chest shielding her. The light grows brighter and brighter till the girl finally wakes up from her dream.
“Kalissa! Kalissa!”
“Huh what?!” Kalissa shoots her head up in disarray.
“You were asleep. Girl…. Again.”
Kalissa rubs her eyes as she regains vision. She notices her two friends Sofia and Aisha.
“You even left a pile a drool. If you keep this up you might have to start using that pacifier again.” Sofia says.
Aisha offers hand and pulls Kalissa off the floor. Aisha was a 17 year old black girl with curly hair. She usually wore her infamous black jacket and headphones along with blue jeans and white tank top. She is a DJ well actually working hard towards becoming one and suceeding might I add. Kalissa gripped her pacifier. It was beat up beyond repair. The nipple was ripped, a part of the guard broke off and the string it held on was knotted multiple times. Kalissa turned her gaze back to Aisha and off her pacifier.
“Why was I on the floor?”
Sofia spoke up “You passed out during class and um fell on the floor. The teacher went to go get the nurse. Me and Aisha took the opportunity to try and wake up you ourselves.”
Sofia was average teenage girl 16 like Kalissa. She had blonde hair wore a bright yellow jacket with blue and white striped shirt and her blue jeans that she always wears.
“Umm thanks guys, but where is everyone?”
Aisha motions to the door. “All students in the classroom were sent to the hallway.”
“Then why are you here?”
Aisha sighs “Cause girl we always have your back!” Aisha says putting her arm around Kalissa.
“We would never leave you hanging Kali!” Sofia says doing the same.
The teacher and the school nurse come in. The rest of the day was pretty much normal after Kalissa’s little snooze. She was taken to the nurses office had a few things checked out went through the rest of her day and began her journey home.
Kalissa got off the bus after saying goodbye to her friends and began her walk home. The sky was clouded as it had been the past few months. Florida was known for rain, but a few months were overdoing it. She didn’t mind the rain much in fact she enjoyed the rain a lot. It was the fact that the dark gloomy sky reminded her too much of her nightmares.
As Kalissa was pondering her thoughts she noticed something. She saw someone limping into the forest. In Kalissa’s subdivision there was this forest that no one was allowed to go into due. It was said to be a nature preserved habitat. Kalissa rushed after the stranger.
“Sir you can’t go in there it’s dangerous!”
She stopped at the edge, her heart pounded. It was almost exactly like her dream. Dark and damp woods and stormy skies the perfect setting. Kalissa grabs her head and walks in a small circle panicked.
“I can’t ignore an injured person. Especially if they are going to be heading in more danger! What do I do?!”
After another 5 minutes of thinking she heard a scream. Without think Kalissa rushed in to the source of the noise. She was brought into a clearing with two trees that formed an arch and no sign of the disturbance.
“Hello? Sir?”
A growl came from behind. Putting no thought into the action she ran as fast and hard as she could. The pounding and squishing of dirt was all that could be heard as Kalissa ran from whatever dangers lurked behind her.
Finally she got out of the woods only to run into her mother. The feel of her green sweater and blue jeans were a blessing in disguised.
“Kalissa? Honey! Where have you been?”
Kalissa struggling from her mother’s grip in tears. “Mom we have to run something is chasing me and a man went in and now everything and my dream!”
Kalissa’s mother held her adopted daughter close. “Alright slow down. Let’s get home and then we can talk about it.”
Kalissa nodded. The two began the trip home where Kalissa told them everything. Her father was home at the time so he didn’t need any extra briefing.
“So a creature killed this man and then went for you?” The father asked.
Kalissa eyes raw and covered in dirt shook her head yes.
“Alright well we will call the police and inform them of this. Sarah if there is some creature lurking around the woods hunting people we have to warn the neighbors.”
The wife puts her hand on.
“I’ll go warn them all right now bill.”
The father kisses Kalissa’s mother. “Be careful please.”
“Kalissa go upstairs and take a shower and relax.”
Kalissa gets up from the kitchen table and heads up stairs and into her own bathroom. As she takes off her shirt she’s notices her pacifier was glowing. Upon closer inspection Kalissa noticed her pacifier was fully repaired good as new even. The nipple was its tinted pink color again and the pink guard was fixed. The pink ribbon that was knotted and faded for so long was now clean and new.
“My pacifier it’s so new.”
Ignoring it for now Kalissa takes her shower and lays in bed staring at the pacifier. Memories of her dreams flash by. It was almost as if it was meant to happen.
“I really hope this all changes by tomorrow.”
Without even trying Kalissa was asleep. The night for once was calm no nightmares, but no dreams either. It was all just pondering.
The following morning wasn’t as exciting as one would think. Kalissa got up her pacifier still the same and got ready for school. She peers out the window.
“It’s actually sunny again!”
A knock is heard from her door.
“Probably mom…”
Kalissa hides her pacifier in her shirt then heads to the door. The door opens and there standing in the doorframe was the shadow creature. Leaving her no time to react the creature leaps on her. This time Kalissa throws herself up from her bed in a cold sweat. She pants vigorously for a good 5 minutes then ceases and starts to relax. She grabs her phone and clicks the button on the top bring the screen to life. She still had another hour to go before she had to get up for school.
“There’s no way I am getting to sleep after that.”
Kalissa throws her covers to the side and swings her legs to the side of the bed letting out a nice yawn.
“One the worst sleeps ever.”
She stares down at her still new pacifier for a few moments almost entranced then shakes it off.
“Maybe if I am lucky I can get dibs on those donuts mom got yesterday.”
Slowly and quietly Kalissa heads downstairs in her pink PJ pants and white T-shirt to the kitchen. She opens the fridge to her left at the door to find her prize fresh donuts from the bakery downtown. Picking out her favorite which was the white glazed sprinkles one she grabs the milk in unison. After wasting about one hour eating a donut and browsing around her phones apps Kalissa goes back upstairs and gets ready.
As she brushes her hair someone or something knocks at her door. She tenses up.
“W-who’s there?”
After a few seconds of silence the person speaks up.
“It’s mom sweetie just making sure ready. You’re gonna be late otherwise.”
Breathing a sigh of relief Kalissa replies back. “Thanks mom almost done.”
With a few more strokes of brushing she grabs her bag and heads downstairs. The girl decides not to tell her parents about the nightmare. She doesn’t want them worrying about her whilst they’re trying to find this shadowy beast. Kalissa’s mom escorts her to the door before giving her a kiss and sending the girl off to school.
“Maybe school will give me a break.”
As she says the Kalissa sees someone out of the corner of her eye going back into the same woods as before.
“Or maybe I will late.”
Breathing a frustrated sigh she gives the person chase. She was brought to the same clearing as before, but this time she wasn’t alone. The person she had seen going into the forest earlier and yesterday was standing in front of the tree arch.
“You!”
The person turns around shocked. The dark raining sky covering some of his face.
“I got some questions for you!”
With that the guys pulls something from his shirt and aims it at the tree arch. In a flash of light a portal appears and the stranger jumps in it.
“What the-?”
Kalissa starts to back up, but stops and stares at the portal.
“I can feel it… calling to me.”
Step by step she approaches the portal until she is right in front of it. Kalissa reaches a hand out into it. Suddenly she is pulled through to the other side. Then things go black.
She later awakes to find guards pointing spears at her.
“Umm hi?”
Another figure approaches her. She was a female wearing some sort of white robs with silver trim and behind her head were some sort of archs connected to her collar.
“W-where am I?!”
The strange woman answers.
“You young child are in Anadoria.”
