After slugging down a few bottles of Rum, Jigglyusa ends up passed out in one of the chairs in the captains cabin, leaving Moogie and Captain Muskles to share a bottle and talk. Muskles was telling moogie the story of how he came to loose his arm.
"aye the beast was as tall as a tree but had teeth like me cutlass. with one quick dip he took me arm, but it ain't all bad see my kin and i are able to grow limbs back, tho the end up like this" holding up his tentalce. some thoughts entered Moogies mind at that moment

pretty much, the thought process was that since fingers are a complex part of the body, it would make sense that something that would be similar but less functional would grow in
