Izzy looked at her partner. She admired his eyes, though strongly matching her own. She also admired Tay's hair, his ears, his smile... Suddenly, those eyes were on Izzy.
"What's some stuff grown-ups talk about at dinner?" Tay asked, grabbing a delicious looking dinner roll. Dinner rolls! Izzy had been so busy with Tay’s antics, she forgot they were even in the table! She looked down at the basket Tay pulled his from; 3 buttery rolls glistened in the country light alongside two mini cups of butter.
"I dunno... talk about the weather?" Izzy suggested, taking a roll and opening it, putting the butter into the hot, steamy center. Tay's eyes looked around, mouth half open.
"It's cold!" He said. Izzy giggled. 'He's not always so bad, she thought, 'I love him, always have, and his ways, no matter how annoying, have a weird charm to them.' She bit into the roll; delicious! It was a sweet, buttery taste with a surprise cinnamon twist. She looked down, grabbing one of the butter cups and sniffed it; cinnamon butter! Izzy smiled, holding her roll out toward her brother.
"These are delicious!" She said.
"Yeah!" Tay said, biting his again. Izzy noticed he didn't add cinnamon butter to his.
"And with the cinnamon butter, they're even better!" She hinted. Tay eyed the cups.
"'Cinnamon butter?' I don't trust it..." he said, sour face toward the concoction. Izzy finished her roll.
"It's just cinnamon butter." she said.
"Its gross!" He said.
"It's delicious!" Izzy said, grabbing her second.
"It's unnatural!" Tay shouted, nearly barking at the butter.
"Calm down, Tay. It's not gonna get ya." Izzy said.
"It's goin' into my sister!" Tay barked. Izzy got quiet, whispering.
"tay, you've been going into m- wait..." Izzy stopped, giving her brother a good look. "...are you jealous of the cinnamon butter?" She asked, full voice. Tay crossed his arms and slouched back.
"...no..." he said, pouty. Izzy laughed.
"Fine thing to be jealous of." Izzy giggled more, finishing her roll. So good! Tay was so good. Which was more delicious? She blushed. "Try to not be so jealous in public, okay, bro?" She said, drinking. "There might still be people around here that we know."
"So, what do we do if we run into people we know?" Tay asked. Izzy thought about it. What WOULD they do if they met people they knew?
"It's not like they can TELL we're a couple; we're twins, always out together and being close. Shouldn't be a problem if we keep it under wraps." Izzy explained, lifting her foot to Tay's shin under the table and leaning forward. "and we ARE keeping it under wraps..." Izzy whispered, lifting her leg up Tay's shin and poked at his kneecap, "...right??" Tay's expression changed subtly to one of confused disgust. He leaned in as if to say something, but Izzy felt charmed nonetheless. Tay's mouth opened.
"i think there's an infestation at this restaurant." it whispered, throwing off Izzy’s mood for one of confusion as well.
"...what?!" She asked harshly.
"shhhh! you'll scare it away!" Tay hushed.
"what the heck are you talking about?!" Izzy asked.
"there is a bug or something here!" Tay said, bottom eyelids raised. Izzy cringed a little, body freezing up.
"what?! eww! this is a restaurant!" She said, sinking between her shoulders.
"yeah, a restaurant with a bad review when i leave here!" Tay said, slyly eyeing another part of the room.
"w-where is the bug or whatever?" Izzy asked, eyes darting around. Tay sat up, eyes locked on his girlfriend.
"don't worry; i'll handle it..." he said. The two sat in silence for a little bit. Izzy was frozen. She didn't want to move. A bug?! Not tonight! Not on our date! Tay looked down and raised his paw. Omg! The bug is just below him! Gross! Tay slammed his fist down hard under the table, striking Izzy’s foot which was still pressed up against her brother’s knee. "GOTCHA, YA CHEEKY LITTLE SHITE!" Tay cried.
"OW, TAY! MY FOOT! " the girl cried, withdrawing her foot and rubbing it.
"There it goes!"
"Where?! Was it on my foot?!" Tay looked up at his sister.
"It went toward you, sis." Tay said in monotone. Izzy nearly jumped.
"WHAT?! WHAT'S IT LOOK LIKE?!" she cried.
"It's all black and pink! Touched me in the leg! How rude!" Tay said, leaning back for a glance under the table. All at once, Izzy’s panic turned to rage.
"'Black and pink?'" Izzy asked, significantly more calm. Tay nodded without looking up.
"Yeah, it was gross!"
"'A bug or something?!' Tay, that was MY shoe!" Izzy said, scowling. Tay looked at Izzy with a blank face.
"You got bug shoes?" He asked, to which Izzy just shot him an impatient expression, shaking her head 'no.'
