"You want me to do what?" I looked over at my boss, wide eyed.
"I want you to take this here, pull it back there.. load up and take 'em out."
I scanned the opened trailer. It was a trailer that would normally hold livestock, such as pigs, chickens.. or even cows. Today however, it was going to carry horses, or would it? Now smart people, would not put horses in these, specially ones going to a thouroughbred farm such as these guys, but my boss.. Zack, is'nt that smart of a man. So there are ways into convincing him otherwise of his decissions.
I looked over to him again, then looked around the area one more time, it was dark.. but I know we had a trailer somewhere that was for horses and no other animal. "There has got to be another trailer for them.. Zemar can use this one for the pigs he is meant to take later tonight, once he gets back from Calgary."
Zack had taken his eyes from me when another truck pulled into the lot. Bingo. It was Tyler, our 'head trucker' as Zack calls him. He is a beagle, quite an old one too.. but has been out on the roads most of his life. Became a trucker for Zack when he was a pup, probably eighteen or so. It makes Zack sometimes look older then he really is. Oh and I am Kimi, by the way. Still new to the trucking thing at twenty seven. Still making my rounds in these parts to make a good name for myself, but working hard. The normal drive I make is a day, but after these horses.. I will be teaming up with a lion named Zemar, to make a 'big journey' as we are both new to this thing. Him and I will be taking cars, yes.. cars.. a few provinces away. Currently we are in Alberta, Canada. These cars will be taken to Ontario, to a car dealer thing in Toronto. I have never made any trip like that before. Not in a car or even a plane, so the trip shall be interesting. Meeting Zemar should be interesting in itself aswell. Not nervous at all.
"Yoohoo!" A paw waves in my face, it takes a few moments to realize who's it was. Tim. Or as I call him, Timmy. He was in the same class as I was for training, to learn how to drive a big rig. He is a panther, but not black as many seem to think they all are. He is an albino, only one I know really. His nose is pink, eyes are this red colour and his fur is snow white. He was pretty cute the moment I saw him, though if it wasn't for his snarky additude and thinking that he is better then everyone elsei nthe same job we all do, he would be dateable.
"Oh, hey Tim. You here to pick up a load too?" I asked, as nicely as I could. Still not distracted.
"Yeah, heard you got the horses this round. Don't bump around too much, don't want them going 'squish' in the trailer." He gave a grin. I just shook my head.
"No going squish." I looked up quickly and stepped a few feet to the side. "However.." I nodded towards him, "You may go squish if you keep standing there." My eyes left his to set on the trailer starting to back up right infront of him. As every trucker should know, you can't see shit behind you, so whatever is behind you better be paying attention.
Tim squealed and jumped out of the way, his fist pumping in the air towards Tyler.

Later that night, as I was loading the horses into the -proper- trailer, we got a call. Seems as though on the way home, Zemar got his truck stuck. He either got bullied to the side of the road, lost traction or blew a tire. There is not much snow on the ground right now, even though it has just started to be fall.. but in these parts, you never really know what you will get till it falls. I also, had been asked to go get him, why? Because we are to work together. Zack says it would be a good way to 'break the ice' between us too, for me.. a girl, to go save him. I don't look like the typical trucker either. I.. if I forgot to mention, am a Doe. A spotted white tailed deer. Spotted mainly because when growing up, my spots never wanted top leave me or something.. my brother lost his, as did my mother and father. Guess I just wanted to be different.
Before heading out, I decided to take the towtruck, not knowing how Zemar was stuck made me think that taking this would be the smarter idea, instead of just taking the company car. Can't save a ditched truck with a small car! Unless, you know.. try ramming into the back of the thing, smushing the small car in the process to make the bigger and fatter truck to move. Yeah, no.. bad idea.
"Looks like he is an hour out, want some company?" Tim asked. I just stared him down.
"You, asking me if you can come along? Do you not think I can handle this on my own?" I pointed my nose down, to get a better look at him.
"I just.." I stopped him right there.
"No, you think because I am a girl.. and the only one in this company, that I cannot go out on my own and do this. No. If you talk again.. I will tape your muzzle shut." Yup. That did it.
With that, I left with a giant smile on my face. Time to find Zemar.
