I don't understand the whole "Ponies in Socks" phenomenon. But God bless the person who came up with it! TOO cute.

I can tell you with a good degree of certainty that it wasn't a single person. I for one have drawn critters wearing socks before FiM came around, so for me it was a natural fit. I'm guessing that for the 'meme' behind it to take shape several sock ponyfolk drew their socked ponies.
