And to jump start to Final Five it's none other the eternal, blood sucking creature of the night. The all too romanticized Vampire. (plus bats, because I couldn't have a Halloween Countdown without them. I mean, c'mon!) This sort of rounds what I would include as 'traditional monsters', of course we still have a few days to go, but after this will be a bit more specific and higher up there on the paranormal scale, but I figured if anyone deserved a spot in the Final Five it was a vampire. While I know they've become a dime a dozen and horribly bastardized in more recent years I really do love vampires and in my opinion I include them as one of the strongest monsters out there, bested by very few and those are usually on god level... of course, in that same tier though is Count Dracula, because I mean, c'mon... it's Dracula!
But really, vampires have got it all. Fame, notoriety, riches, ultimate swag, immortality and the longer they exist the strong they become! There have been several versions of vampires out there, but I personally like the suave, almost succubus/incubus version with magical ability and able to become one with the darkness itself. Granted the overtly smug ones can be annoying, but as I said, they kind of have it all so I guess some vanity is to be expected. It is of course by no surprise to anyone, I hope, that I'm a massive Castlevania fan, so much of my opinion and preference to the creatures come from that series.
In Purgatory, vampires are also somewhat common and are usually just monsters. Not many humans die to end up as one and those who do are greatly shunned by "real" vampires. Again, they're one of, if not the most powerful species out there being one with the darkness itself, but truthfully they aren't usually that bad. They're more so just the spoiled, rich fops. Their only true horror is having to listen to them gloat about themselves. Of course in the Netherworld there is no real sun, so they don't have to worry about that and their drinking blood? Totally unneeded. To a vampire, blood is like alcohol, it is a bad habit and those who make a life style out of it are viewed as pitiful drunks. Bloodalics Anonymous is one of the largest help groups in Purgatory... it's a real problem and unless someone like you cares an awful lot, nothing's going to change... it's not.
