It's more like a nibble actually.  I doubt Evie would ever bit Richard with enough force to break his skin let alone inject any venom.  Still, he probably hopes she'll never get carried away with any hickies she might like to surprise him with.

a fun roleplay, if possibly frightening at first. As I remember, don't snakes have muscular control of their venom sacks, so she could actually full out bite without injecting venom if she wished?

I'm not sure how venom glands for cobras work but I do know that rattlesnakes don't always inject venom when they strike.  I've toyed with the idea that Evelyn might be part rattlesnake on her mother's side.

I'd imagine that in drastic situations, one could opt for a venom gland removal surgery. but perhaps part of the fun is the danger.

Another possibility in an anthropomorphic snake is the venom gland has withered away in successive generations as they no longer need to hunt for food.  Perhaps it hasn't happened quite yet for Evelyn but I could see it be an eventuality among anthro snakes.

that would make it quite possible for her to have muscular control; so they'd both know it was totally safe, but she'd still have that distinctive reason people don't make cobra's angry at her disposal

She's definitely covered in the self defense area, especially if she has a little spitting cobra in her.

agreed; sounds like if a mugger was dumb enough to try she'd be protecting her stallion instead of vice versa

A snake is usually faster than a horse.  I'll bet she could strike the mugger before he knew what hit him.

yet another reason not to make a snake angry:)
