Ahh slimes. So basic, yet so satisfying. No matter what they seem to pop up everywhere from classic horror films, to the Chu-Chus of Zelda or the icons from Dragonquest, you gotta love 'em, perhaps because they allow for endless possibility, given their non-solid forms, or because we just lack better ideas and they have an immediate gross out factor, but these guys are tenacious and don't go away anytime soon!
Second only to ghosts, blobs are the most rudimentary creatures in Purgatory. Generally lacking any form of personality or higher brain function, in fact, most of these guys only function due to an excess of spiritual energy in the ectoplasm that makes them up. As such, slimes are almost excusively in the "never died, just always existed that way" category... however there are extremely rare cases in which a person can end up as a blob in the afterlife... but you really don't want to know how. Slimes are easily the most hated and reviled species in Purgatory, not only due to the intense cleaning bill they can rack up, but because those that are "fortunate" enough to have a personality are just as disgusting as they themselves, so much that they can make zombies look dignified by comparison
