The Abunese write and draw on papyrus sheets, and is reserved mostly for state and religious documents, while common stuff is written on flat limestone shards, the Ge'kaa. The inscription on the left says: "Kaliendra, beloved by the Gods", which is one of her honorific titles. As you can see, the Abunese alphabet is written vertically.
