You know -- Vera's childhood wasn't as bad as it seemed. Her parents are still consistently loving people -- just not around so much and tend to be strict when they are. They simply want the best for Vera and, in compensation for always being absent, showered the hell out of her with gifts on a regular basis. Here we see that they went and bought her a million presents out of the blue and even lovingly wrapped them. It's not even Vera's birthday -- but it sure feels like it as she rips open the presents while her current babysitter had been told to order a cake.
