The Fappiest Days of Our Lives

Box full of Bats

Jacent is one of those archetypes of characters I regularly see, but is usually done rather poorly. The "human in a world of furries" thing usually falls under an awkwardly on-the-nose self insert, or a comically by-the-books straight man everydude. Jace certainly has a sense of normalcy that comes from his time, but it's clear that he himself is very odd, and you get the impression over time that he didn't exactly fit in during his own time, either.

It's difficult to say which development is the most shocking: that people now have animal features, that there's more green now than in his time... or that boys now have curves.

I'd probably be most surprised by there being any trees left. You'd think the entire planet would be one large concrete ball in the future at this rate. :(

They did kinda undergo an apocalypse. And they do all live in climate-controlled bubble cities.

But CC, the economy. We can't sacrifice short-term gains for long-term... ability to live! That's crazy talk.

You'd think that Big Oil and other companies trying to stifle rising competitors would jump on the bandwagon before they're left in the dust. They have the money for it, and after Elon Musk made the electric car patents open for competitors purely on the basis of good faith, their list of excuses are dwindling quickly. I think it's more about trying to maintain the status quo and a blatant refuse to change and adapt, which spells their own doom in the long run. The long run being after they're dead or too old to care.

It's very simple. The bosses want to grab as much as they can, then retire to some remote place when the shit hits the fan.

Except humans like their greenery. Or reddery. Or whatever other colors we decide plants OUGHT to be.

It isn't a question of liking it; it's a question of liking other things much, much more.

Wait.

Jacent isn't a self-insert?

But. He has long hair.

No, JacentxNori would be a self-insert.

I am in a near-constant state of surprise that this hasn't happened yet.

JacentxNorixObama?  Whatever floats your boat, Boss.

Though I'd be wary of Michelle, she's got some stout arms for beating people with.

... is it sad that the image of Jacent in the upper-left caught my eye the most?  I think I'm just jealous I can't pull off a cat's cradle (or whatever that's called) with a yo-yo...

... of course, I'm also jelly that I could never operate a yo-yo in the first place.  ¬.¬

Naw, all the kids are jelly of his yo-in' skills! It's one of those things that would be hard to practice if you didn't live outdoors.

Well, point taken.  At least I'm not alone!
