Chapter 6 the remains of the shattered world

“The Theme for this Arc is Hero’s of our time by Dragonforce

Alex sits floating in a black void, his white jacket hardly able to be seen, he looks up then says,

“A heart beat, heard echoing off of everything yet nothing, a plea for help always heard but never answered, evil machinations fought yet truly going unchallenged; these are the things I witnessed that eon I was locked inside of the gemstone as my soul healed from its destruction. Blind to the worlds around me yet I felt their pain, their desperation, and their sorrow. Years rolled on to centuries, as I watched and waited, for my chance to aid those voices that so desperately sought hope and salvation, and one day it came; though not fully aware I was able to start projecting my energies from my prison to help those who sought the light, and in doing so I felt worlds change. Heroes emerged, people who made the impossible possible, and in them I felt hope; I knew that I had made it possible for them to stand up.”

Looking up from under his hood he goes on to say,

“Our time together, though brief, is now over, from this point out, you go alone, a being can’t exist twice in the same point of time, a basic rule of reality, but an important one. Feel free to continue to watching my story, or leave, I don’t mind either way, but from this point on you won’t see me for a long time.”

He snaps his fingers and vanishes into a white mist, leaving behind the impression of a crystal bound in suspension within a black void, inside the younger Alex lays roughly the age of eighteen, his head against his chest, arms bound to his sides clothes torn and tattered from his body having grown. There is no movement from him say for the very slight rise and lowering of his chest as he took shallow breaths. Visible pulsations of energy start to emit from the crystal as Alex stirs from within, barely opening an eye to look around. Nothingness surrounded him for the longest time but as he slowly started to fall asleep again, there was a spark of light, and inside of the gemstone he slept once more as the crystalline prison started to materialize partially into reality, or perhaps many realities at once, out each side of the crystal’s surfaces was a different looking world, one a sparsely wooded forest, another a park with a few trees around the Crystal, another a field of some kind, and another looking to be on a hill somewhere.

Alex manages to open his eye once again before muttering under his breath,

“must . . . . . wake.”

Managing to free his right hand, he slowly presses it against the crystal surrounding him, making another wave of energy emit from the crystalline prison once again. He calls out as another wave of energy emits from the crystal,

“help . . . me”

~some where in a strange forest~

Bolting though some bushes comes a man with long white hair, wearing a red kimono, and a sword on his belt. He calls back to someone following after him,

“Hurry up you slow poke, someone is calling us.”

Following after him through the bushes is a girl, long black hair in what looks to be a high school uniform of some kind, the girl says looking to the man who just won’t stop,

“Inuyasha, slow down will you, I don’t hear anything.”

He ignores her pleas and continues on stopping only for a moment as another wave of energy filled the sky for a moment, he then turns a little and says,

“this way, come on can’t you feel that energy Kagome?”

She sighs and continues after him, if only to try and get him to stop.

~some where in a park~

A boy with Blond hair and wearing a blue t-shirt and light brown pants as well as a pair of glasses, is huddled over panting and gasping for breath then saying as he is able to stand,

“man, has she always been that fast, I can’t even see her any more.”

He looks around as more teens join him a girl with short black hair, a black shirt and pants, another boy with blond hair done up in a kind of spike, wearing a purple shirt and pants, and a third boy with brown hair, wearing a light green jacket over a brown shirt and a pair of blue jeans. The blond boy says still trying to catch his breath,

“hurry, we have to find Aelita’s, if this is Xana’s doing she could be in grave danger.”

The rest nod then start to follow the direction he had pointed to, however stopping for a moment the boy with brown hair stops to say,

“you know Jeremie, if you came to PE more often you might actually be able to keep up with Aelita in times like this.”

Jeremie rights himself again then saying as he started moving,

“yeah, yeah, criticize me later, right now we have to find Aelita.”

The other boy nods then hurries after their friends, who all start calling out the missing girls name, hoping she’d respond. At that moment though a girl with bright pink hair, wearing a pink shirt under a dark pink dress runs though the park for a few moments till she stops to catch her breath then looks around. After blinking a few times she sees another pulsation of energy and starts hurrying toward its source. Rushing past some trees and though some bushes she finally manages to find what she was looking for. Standing before her stands a large purple hued crystal half emerged from a rock face. She turns to hear her friends as they finally catch up.

~somewhere, in a strangely empty field~

There is silence for only a few moments till someone rushes past, like a blue blur, who then stops allowing a young yellow fox to catch up with him, the young boy clearly out of breath from trying to keep up with his friend says as he lands next to him,

“Sonic, what’s wrong? I’ve never seen you up and bolt on Amy like that before and that’s saying something.”

The blue hedgehog says looking back to the fox,

“I don’t know tails, I had the strangest feeling that someone needed my help and I just couldn‘t resist; plus talk about the perfect excuse am I right?”

The young fox stands upright then sighs walking next to his friend and joins him in looking around; the area was empty to say the least, there was nothing no trees no rocks nothing just a barrenly  empty field. Looking up to his friend with a semi skeptical look on his face the young fox asks,

“and that voice told you to come here?”

The hedgehog rubbing the underside of his nose says,

“I know how it sounds tails, but I’m telling you, someone called me, I’m not sure if its eggmans doing or not, but what I can say is someone needs my help.”

The pair stand there for a few moments more, not really sure what they were looking for till tails pips up asking,

“Uhh sonic, do large crystals normally stand on its point?”

Sonic turns his head a little then responds,

“you’re the genius here tails, you tell me. Why do you ask?”

Turning to see what the young fox was looking at, Tails says,

“uh that’s why.”

What he turns to see is a large purple hued crystal standing on the apex of its lower point; not embedded into the ground or anything propping it up, just standing there. The hedgehog says with a tone of humor,

“well that’s certainly no chaos emerald, lets check it out Tails.”

The fox nods in agreement then follows after his friend who approaches the crystal. They get closer to the large gemstone as a few more pulsations of energy emit from it, leading Sonic to say,

“yup, that’s the energy I felt when I heard that voice calling me, what ever this thing is, its calling for help.”

Both friends go about trying to examine the crystal but don’t find anything it just seemed to be a large crystal. A few moments pass till Tails calls Sonic over to him saying,

“Sonic, over here, look at this.”

With a nod the hedgehog walks over to his friend then seeing what his friend had seen, only two faces of the crystal where there then walking past them, there was nothing absolutely nothing, you couldn’t even see it anymore, then walking back to the other side it was there plain as day. Sonic then says quickly darting back and forth,

“huh, what do you think is going on Tails?”

The young fox extends his hand a little, trying to feel if the crystal was simply half invisible but would not be the case he never felt a thing, even walking though to the point that he was able to see the visible portion of the gemstone. Taking a step back sonic decides to walk back over to the face of the crystal they could see.

~Somewhere in a forest~

There are a few moments of silence till a boy in orange bolts past, followed after by another boy with black hair, and a girl with pink hair. The second boy shouts to the boy they are chasing,

“Naruto, where are you going you loser?”

The boy in question says as he glances back to the other two,

“Shut up and follow me, its close I can feel it.”

Looking back to the path in front of him he then says under his breath,

“I know someone is calling me.”

They finally emerge from the forest where Naruto stops as he feels another pulse of energy, he then says pointing up a large hill,

“Up there, I can feel it, someone up there is calling me, they need my help.”

His two companions look at each other for a moment before the second boy responds,

“yeah right, who would be calling you for help Naruto you’re such a loser, would be better to ask a slug for help?”

The boy in question turns to the other and says,

“shut up Sasuke, I’m telling you, someone is up there, and they’re asking for my help, now come on.”

The orange clad boy marches up the hill with the other two following after him almost reluctantly, the girl then saying holding her hands behind her head,

“Naruto if this is just a waste of time I’m going to kick your ass.”

Naruto gulps loudly, then leading the group up the hill, they find of all things, a large purple hued crystal standing on the apex of its lower point. Right in the middle of the hill top, two faces of the crystal are clearly visible and as they approach Sasuke says,

“Alright Naruto, you got me, this isn’t nothing, lets check it out.”

With a goofy grin on his face Naruto leads the way, where after a moment the trio begins to examine the large crystal. The girl asks as they look at it,

“well what is it?”

Naruto responds with a strange amount of enthusiasm,

“it’s a giant crystal Sakura”

Sasuke walks around it to see the other side of it, however says,

“hey check it out, the rest of it is gone.”

The other two come over to the other side and see that it just fades into nothingness, and not only that, but from this side there seemed to be no crystal at all. Sakura asks walking back around to the visible side of the crystal,

“this is strange, I think we should go get kakashi sensei.”

~back in the park with the girl Aelita~

Now with her friends who are all looking over the crystal, Jeremie says,

“so we can only see it from one side, only two faces are showing and its standing on its lower point, this is clearly not a natural phenomenon.”

The other blond boy asks,

“think its Xana’s doing?”

Jeremie shrugs his shoulders then pulls a laptop computer from his bag. As he begins typing away at it, Aelita approaches the large crystal and carefully presses her right hand on it. There is then a sudden flash.

~in the forest~

The girl Kagome finally manages to catch up to Inuyasha, who is just standing there, looking at the crystal before him almost dumbfounded; Looking at his right hand for a moment he then reaches out and presses his hand against the crystal, a incredibly bright flash then emits from said crystal.

~in the empty field~

Tails looks on as Sonic, almost like he was compelled to do so, presses his right hand on the crystal, unleashing a bright flash from it.

~Back on the hill~

After arguing with the others over what to do with the large crystal, Naruto suddenly stops, looking at the crystal then walks up to it and presses his right hand against it. Inside of the crystal Alex opens an eye, looking at each face of the crystal looking at the person at each side then holding up his right hand and holding it forward, the crystal then starting to crack and brake. He grins slightly as the fibers that held him retracted allowing him his full movement as limited as it was, then holding his left hand up to join his right he then says taking a breath,

“now . . . . shatter. . .”

A bright blinding light erupted from the crystal blinding everyone at each crystal face, till the light faded and everyone was able to see once again, however nothing was as it was for either of the groups now staring at each other. Surprise and confusion filled everyone’s faces till they saw something no one expected, a fox with blood red fur hitting the ground right where the crystal once stood. It’s Naruto that breaks the silence by stating the obvious,

“hey . . it’s a fox.”

Sakura says walking over to said creature,

“thanks for pointing that fact out captain obvious.”

Sonic is the next to speak asking as he looked around,

“anyone have the slightest clue what just happened, this place looks way different then where we just were.”

Everyone takes a quick look around till the red fox started to stir then looking up. As to be expected his first reaction was to jump away from the humans, the last thing he could remember being the hunters attack on his village. He stumbled a little bit still backing away from the large group till he backed into sonic and tails. With a sigh of relief he turns to his fellow fox and tries to ask him just what was going on, tails however looking confused at his language more so then the others. Looking over to his friend sonic asks,

“uh tails, you understand what he’s saying?”

The young fox shakes his head no then responds,

“not a word.”

Before he could do anything more Alex’s eyes flicker, then stumbling he blacks out. Sonic manages to catch the falling fox then saying as he struggled under his weight,

“little help, he’s really heavy.”

No one moves till Kagome nudges Inuyasha who turns away for all of a moment till she smacks the backside of his head. Grudgingly he walks over to and lifts Alex off of the hedgehog. The groups slowly start to make their ways toward each other before noting the fact the sun was going down, and with absolutely no knowledge of where they were, a decision is soon made to jerry rig some kind of camp for the night. With everyone else doing their best to try and make some kind of comfortable sleeping area as well as a fire to cook some food, two are left to watch over the fallen fox, the high school girl Kagome and Sakura who was trying to see if anything was wrong with him, however any injuries he might have had were beyond her novice skills to detect.

Kagome asks looking as the second girl finished her examination,

“find anything wrong with him?”

She shakes her head no then states,

“if anything is wrong with him then its clearly beyond my medical skills, all we can do is hope that nothing is really wrong with him.”

The first girl nods in agreement pulling a jacket over the fox then says looking back to the other girl,

“I hope he does wake up and soon, I’ve never seen this area before he might have some information on just where we are.”

Nodding Sakura says as she stands and dust off her pants,

“well I’m going to go help the others, just try to keep him comfortable for now, all we can do is wait for him to wake up.”

She nods then watches as Sakura walks over to the rest of the group leaving Alex in her care. Looking up at the sky the sun slowly starts it job of setting beyond a far off mountain ridge leaving the group to deal with their first night being lost in this strange place with minimal supplies, and the strange fox they found inside of the crystal.
