In my fantasy setting, members of the feline race are very knowledge-centric, having a strong curiosity to make or find new things- typically being inventors, tinkers, scribes, wizards.
Although they have a thirst for knowledge, they tend to be a bit reclusive, their diminutive size makes them not exactly the most formidable of foes when matched up against the other races. While most felines would prefer to stay in their homelands and spend their time inventing and learning, someone needs to travel the world for knowledge and materials. Usually the adventuring feline has a variety of inventions or gadgets to level the playing field.
Others, like Claira, rely on their smarts, agility, and occasionally other, bigger, tougher adventurers to travel with.
That's not to say Claira isn't helpful - Claira's desire to know and record everything she can about the world and the things in it - make her very useful for the adventurer who gets lost all too often, or the adventurer who can't tell a magic immune slime from and ordinary slime.
Claira is almost never without her pack full of scrolls, maps, tomes of monster knowledge, and a trusty dagger just in case.
