As far back as she can remember, Lil' Jasmina called the run-down nameless orphanage she was raised in home, and the uncaring caretakers the closest thing she had to parents. Until eventually she was tired the lack of care and attention and at the age of 12, left the orphanage with a small group of kids, running out into the streets of Caída d'Esperanza. There, she and the children made a new home for themselves in an old Church of the Light. It was there that Jasmina found religion, praying for the well-being of her friends in the evening, while protecting them during the day, becoming an expert brawler.
Her skill in Brawling improved by sneaking with the other children into Luchadore fights to watch the matches, especially the matches of the undefeated champion, a Bull named Del Duque, who was beloved of everyone. One evening, after watching the matches, Jasmina and her friends actually tried mugging Del Duque, who laughed off their attempts at distracting and cut-pursing him, and managed to disarm them harmlessly. Then, he surprised them by actually giving them his money, saying he was impressed with their courage, and especially with Jasmina's skill. Saying she had potential, he offered to take her under his wing and train her in Lucha Libre. Desperately wanting a way off the streets, Jasmina agreed, and from then on, she and her friends were welcome into the Wrestling Arena where she could train, her friends cheering her on.
After a year of training (and getting a decent education from Duque's own tutoring), Jasmina heard that some of her younger friends were getting abducted. Not even waiting for her mentor to help her, she investigated the matter herself, discovering that another group of teenagers were abducting the children to induct them into something called "The Orphans", a group of assassins that exploited kids. Filled with righteous anger, Jasmina charged the group and bodyslammed their leader, a lanky bat male. But as brave and strong as she was, Jasmina was soon overwhelmed by the assassins' skill and weapons, and was taken down by a stab through the belly by the bat.
Laying bleeding on the ground, Jasmina's prayers for salvation where answered when Del Duque, in a previously unseen display of superhuman strength, burst through a wall to attack the young killers. Seemingly indestructible to mere human weaponry, he quickly routed them, forcing the bat and some others to flee, leaving behind their unconscious comrades. Then, Duque came to Jasmina's dying form and placed a hand on her belly, miraculously healing her, and leaving her with a slew of questions: it was common knowledge that many Latin Superheroes disguised themselves as Luchadores,
As it turned out, Del Duque was more then a Superhuman. He was a Celestial, an Angel, in a humanoid vessel. Her Courage, Nobility and Kindness had impressed him, and he believed she had what it took to become a Soldier of Heaven in the service of his Superior, Michael, the Archangel of War. In awe of the revelation, she accepted eagerly, and her training intensified from that day on, including knowledge of fighting demons and other supernatural menaces.
Finally, Del Duque presented her before Michael (who appeared in the form of a tall, handsome lion in biker gear), where she was granted a holy artifact, a mask that would grant her superhuman strength and stamina, especially against supernatural foes. Then, she was told to say goodbye to her old friends, who would be taken care of and helped to find caring homes, as she was to leave for North America. Michael intended for her to become better acquainted with superheroics in general, and had arranged for her to study at Claremont Academy in Freedom City, a school for superheroes.
So, after a teary-eyed goodbye, she embarked on a plane for the first time in her life, to travel to her new life in Freedom City.
