If you murdered a clone of someone irl (should one exist of a human) it would still be considered murder, because a clone is a real person. It does make me wonder why the clones acted like idiots and kept repeating 'fun', but were quite sane in the combing through, when they certainly were made of same flesh as PP herself. I think the spell couldn't make difference since it looked at just the flesh itself, not what was their intelligence.

The big difference between the clone pinkies and the real pinkie is how they perceive fun. Clone pinkies are hyperactive ponies who only care about themselves. They want fun no matter how much it inconveniences other ponies and don't even realize they're being a nuisance. The real pinkie derives her enjoyment and fun from creating fun FOR OTHERS.
As for the clones intelligence I read a theory that the more you make the more the smartness is "split" between each clone, which is why the first pinkie was fairly smart, but as they created more and more they dumbed down. Another thing I read was that it was the writers acknowledging that sometimes Pinkie can be really annoying to the viewers by flanderizing the clones.

Except, the clones were indesiguishable from the real pinkie. Pinkie just can't take anything seriously. The only reason she was being so emo, is because the writers wrote her as such. There for that is not to say the clones were any less intelligent.

The writers have the right to claim canon, though, while this isn't. Pinkie Pie was emo and the clones were less intelligent and that's how the canon went. This is "just" an alternate interpretation. That's all that is being said. The thread seems to have started on a statement that someone no longer liked Twilight because of this non-canonical scene, which is like saying they don't like Celestia because of Molestia.

Yes, although they're so wildly different (even the spinoff with humans didn't have actual humans), I personally consider them different realities. But canon anyways. Same with superhero comics, no matter how many retcons they give, the officially hired artists and writers have right to claim canon and fans do not, however accurate fan predictions may be. The only valid show canon contradiction of MLP would be those between would be the funny differences the show and the toy line have.

Now this is a very interesting concept. A clone of Pinkie Pie, who fully acknowledges she isn't the original, yet posses a strong desire to exist in her own right. And yet, Twilight believes the clone must be destroyed, to serve the greater good. This definitely has the makings of a very good, thought provoking story.
