My oldest dog loves the rain too.
The last time we had a good rain, I instantly got him into the back yard. I then had to leave to run some errands. When I got back and let him back into the house, he was smiling very broadly, clearly very happy to have gotten to play in the rain some more.
"Look at me, Daddy! I'M WET! YAY!"
